Memories
Hundreds of kilometers away, outside the village of Konoha, two men were sitting on a cliff and gazed at the great walls. One of them was sitting down in a meditation stance and the other was leaning against a tree a few meters away from his partner.
"How long has it been since we last came here? Ten years?" the one which was leaning against the tree said.
"Thirteen."
"Oh that's right. Thirteen. We had to capture the Kyuubi but we failed because of his guardian. He was a mere Gennin then, but now he is the Rokudaime. It will be harder."
"Hn." his partner said and didn't show that he wanted to say anything more. The other one eyed him curiously because of his strange mood.
"What's with you today? It's not like you." he said.
Itachi made a long pause and moved his gaze at the Hokage Monument where he could see all the six faces of the Hokages. Suddenly, he got up on his feet and turned his red gaze at his partner.
"This day, also thirteen years ago, she joined us." he said and passed him. Kisame smirked at his back as it disappeared through the bushes.
"I knew that there was something between them." he said and followed his partner so he wouldn't be left behind.
Itachi walked deeper and deeper in the forest not turning his head after his partner. Inside his cloak his hand brushed against a hidden pocket and he felt the square box which was in it. His eyes narrowed, the memory of what he wanted to do with that box three years ago crossed his mind and he found himself taking a deep sigh. But the question was, why didn't he throw it? Why did he still have it? It's not like she was still allive so he could use it.
He frowned, use it? She betrayed everyone including him and he still thought about her. But the box was there, the evidence that his thoughts, no, feelings were true that day when he wanted to give it to her was there, in his pocket. Inside his cloak, he clenched his fist. How could he be so fool, how could he, Uchiha Itachi let his feelings go over him that made him weak against a mere woman? A woman. He couldn't believe it, a woman who was his teammate, his partner in sparrings and in killing missions, took over his heart.
'My heart?' he thought. Since when he had a heart that was used for feelings? He didn't have a heart for anything or anyone just for living but she, a simple girl from Wind Country changed that thing. Just with her presence near him, she changed him.
Since that faithful day when he went with Deidara and Sasori to Kazegakure, a village in the Wind Country where they found her, she changed him little by little. She was a twelve year-old girl back then, she was very small but she had an amasing power within her that's why Pein sent them to get her. "She can be a great weapon for us" . These words came from Pein and Itachi thought about them all that day. Why would a little brat be a good use for them? She was only going to be a nuisance.
He remembered very well that day. When he entered the village thirteen years ago, a strange feeling went through his body. It was a very deep feeling and didn't knew where it came from. But as he went more in the village along with his two teammates the feeling intensified. He thought only where that great ammount of chakra was coming from. He believed that it was a Jinchuuriki but he remembered that Pein told them that there was none in Kazegakure.
When a blood-red haired girl crossed his way he knew that the chakra ammount was coming from her. He told her to stop and she obeyed only to pierce him with a red glare. He stared back at her with his own red one as well. Her eyes told him that she was strong, she possessed a powerful bloodlimit called Ryakugan which was considered only a myth. But the thing that suprised him the most was that she wasn't afraid of him.
Of course, she was still a little girl and little girls always lose against stronger men. At her test he went even further and used his Mangekyou Sharingan against her. At first she fought it but the illusion was too strong for her and finally she put the katana at her neck laughing evilly that she won. He knew that he had to stop the illusion or she'll die but something made him not to do it. Even today he doesn't know what it was. He found her face very strange, her eyes which kept changing their color and hair that was red like blood made him realise that this little girl would be a great assasin.
Deidara stopped the illusion yelling the release word right when she was about to cut her own neck making the girl to startle in surprise. She threw away the katana and pierced Itachi with an even more red glare. He, of course stared at her bored but she rose her index finger at him. He rose an eyebrow at her act but she kept her state. "Someday, I will defeat you! You just watch!".
Her words full of rage back then echoed in his head and he found himself leaning forward against a tree with his both hands beside his head. He panted hard, he didn't realise that he had been running non-stop since he got up from the cliff. He remembered that all those years, the little girl spent on improving her skills and senses just to defeat him. She was very ambitious but a very shy girl in the same time. He couldn't believe that an excellent assasin like her was such a shy person. The first blush that he saw at her lasted for a few hours. She was getting red like her hair and Itachi found it very amusing so he kept on mocking her about it, but only to receive a red glare and a darker blush at the same time.
"Damn that woman." he murmured to himself. "Damn her." he whispered and started to walk again.
He walked this time at a slower pace and his partner managed to catch up with him. Seeing that he wasn't in a mood of speaking he decided not to say anything. Kisame looked over his shoulder only to see that the sun was setting in orange shades. It was a beautiful setting but he had to hurry or he would have been left behind again.
If he would have turned his head a little more late he would have caught the little glimpse of something shining in grass. The rays of the sun setting kissed the shining golden ring with a diamond on top of it. They made even visible the kanji for Love written in the interior of circle.
