Chapter Three

“I love you.”

The air around Juni seemed to grow thicker, making it hard to breathe. There was no way this was real. The words Kakashi spoke rang in her ears. Her eyes were wide as she stared up at him. Juni lifted her hand, lightly touching his cheek. She could feel him. If she were dreaming, she shouldn’t have been able to feel him.

“Tell me you’re joking,” she whispered, scared to use her voice. “Tell me this isn’t real.”

“Why wouldn’t this be real?” He asks, trailing a finger down her cheek and down her neck. “And why would I be joking?”

“I don’t know!” She whimpered, her eyes closing. “Why are you admitting this now?”

“Because I’m tired of denying the truth.” He paused a moment, still hovering above her. “Do you not feel the same?”

“That’s not it at all,” she answered, her eyes opening again. “I… I love you too, Kakashi.” She smiled at him, even though there was a pained look in her eyes. “This is dangerous.”

“I know. Believe me, I know.” He smiled at her then. “But I think I’m willing to take that risk if you are.”

Juni grinned at him, wrapping her arms around his neck as he lowered to kiss her again. She ran her hand along his bare back, feeling the rippling muscles under his flesh. Her other hand ran through his hair, pulling a purr from him. While she was able to innocently touch him, he moved a hand along her side. His fingers dared inch up her night shirt, wanting to touch her flesh as well. Juni let out a soft sound, arching into him.

Kakashi sighed against her, moving his hand more. He went slow, not wanting to rush things she didn’t want. While she was okay with his hand along her side, she let out a soft gasp when his hand found a breast. It was like a shock of pleasure that ran through her body when his palm brushed her bare nipple. He gave her a gentle squeeze and caress, running his thumb along the quickly hardened nub. Juni groaned softly, pulling away from the kiss to catch her breath.

Part of her wanted to stop him. The other part of her didn’t want him to stop. Her hands clutched his shoulders, biting her lip to keep from moaning in pleasure. Heavens knew she didn’t want people hearing them in the nearby rooms. She didn’t need people looking at her the next morning, knowing what they had done. She certainly didn’t need people judging her.

“It’s okay to make some noise,” Kakashi purred near her ear. “I want to hear you.”

How could he say that? Juni whimpered again, lifting her eyes to look at him again. He grinned at her, tilting his head. He then gave her nipple a light pinch. She gasped, crying out softly in shock.

“There we go.”

Satisfied that he’d gotten a reaction out of her, he lowered his head to her other clothed breast. It didn’t take him long to find the unattended nipple through the material. His mouth closed over it, wetting the shirt in the process. He suckled on her through the shirt, lifting his eyes to see her face. She was watching him, curious. Her hand, shaking, lifted to run through his spiked hair.

Kakashi let out a soft growl, pulling from her. He wanted that shirt off. He pushed the shirt up her frame, tugging her up. Juni let out a soft whimper in protest, but allowed him to pull the shirt off. She lifted her arms in aid of helping him. He smirked at her, tossing the shirt to the floor. She bit her lip, now topless in front of him. The cool air ran along her heated body, making her shiver. Kakashi smiled at her, looking over her body. He licked his bottom lip before leaning to kiss her once again. His hands roamed over her tanned skin, making her arch with every caress.

His hand inched towards the boy shorts she wore. She had every right to stop him if she desired. Daring, his hand ran along the mound of her covered womanhood. She gasped softly, arching again. Half closed, magenta eyes watched him, a smile on her face as well. Her legs moved, parting for him, and giving him more access. He rubbed harder, his fingers moving in small circles against her. Juni groaned as he found a sensitive spot. She was already wet, he could tell. His fingers deftly pulled her shorts from her body, tossing them to where her shirt lay on the floor.

With the cloth out of the way, his hand moved back to her, rubbing her again. Juni groaned again, her head falling back against the pillows. Kakashi smiled slowly, running his fingers along her slowly, rubbing them in the moisture that had gathered along the lips of her core. Without much warning, he slid two fingers inside of her, pushing as deep as he could. Juni gasped again, her back arching, crying out again. Her fingers gripped the bed sheets, head tossing on the pillows. How could his touches do that to her? How could just the smallest of things make her feel like she was on fire? He continued with those fingers inside, working them in slow circles.

“Oh god,” She whispered, tugging on the sheets. “Please…” she whimpered, looking at him.

“Please what?” He asked, looking down at her. He grinned slowly, still stroking her.

“Please… take me.” She blushed, pressing her hips up to his hand trying to get them deeper inside. She whimpered again. “Please take me.”

With his free hand, he pulled the towel away at last, his erection being freed. She watched him as he stroked himself, watching it harden even more before her eyes. She licked her lips, anticipating what was to happen. His fingers moved from her then. She groaned in protest, but, he silenced her with a kiss. He lifted a leg, bringing it around his waist. Being ever so delicate with her, he lifted her hips as well, holding onto her. He positioned himself, running the head of his member along her opening. He kissed her again, distracting her. With a swift thrust, he pushed deep inside of her.

Juni gasped loudly as she jerked and flailed awake on the inn’s bed. Her heart pounded as she looked around the semi-dark room. She blinked, her brain registering that she’d been asleep. She was also alone on the semi-tidy bed. Her hands shook as she lifted her hands to her head, running them through her hair. She was still clothed. There was no wet spot on her shirt where she had dreamed her partner sucking. Her shorts were still firmly in place, save for the now unwanted moisture from her dream.

“Goddammit…” She growled, hitting her hands on the bed in frustration.

It was only a dream. Of course it was only a dream. There was no way that the real Kakashi would ever do that with her. Cursing again, she stood to pace the room. She needed the movement to calm down. She felt the slight sting of tears gathering at her eyes that she hastily wiped away. There was no way she was crying over this dream.

Her heart still pounded as she walked back and forth, trying to get the steamy images out of her head. She thought about home and the mission at hand. She even tried imagining the third hokage in the nude. It worked for a short moment before her thoughts drifted back to Kakashi and his nude form in her dream. She’d seen him naked before, but never like that. She cursed her imagination and perverted mind. She blamed the book and promised to give Jiraiya a few swift slaps for distracting her the way he did with her book.

“You okay?” a voice purred behind her. Juni froze, turning to look at the one behind her, almost afraid to. To her relief, he was clothed, wearing a pair of black sleep pants and black tank top along with his ever famous mask. He ran the towel through his wet hair, looking at her when he could.

“Yeah, I’m fine. Just… had another nightmare.” She smiled, nervous. A nightmare was definitely what it was.

“About the fire again?” He asks, frowning.

“Yeah,” she lied, looking down. “It’s okay though. Really.” She didn’t want him worrying over something she hadn’t dreamed about.

“Okay…” he murmured, still looking at her. He yawned. “Mm… we should get some sleep. I have a feeling we’ll be traveling a lot more tomorrow and we’ll need our energy.” He was already under the covers of the bed when she looked at him again. She nodded a moment, hesitantly moving to him. She crawled into the bed next to him.

“You’re right,” she says quietly, smiling. “Rest would do us both good.” She nodded. She looked to him again, seeing his eyes were already closed and his breathing evened out. She shook her head. He must have been extremely exhausted to have already gotten to sleep so fast.

Sighing, Juni curled onto her side, keeping a few feet between them. She was afraid to get to sleep, afraid of what would be waiting for her in her dreams. She lay there, not knowing for how long. She tried to stay awake as long as she could. But, after a while, her eyes began to cross and she was soon asleep once again.

**********************************************************

The morning came far too fast in Juni’s opinion. To her, it felt like she’d just closed her eyes when the sun approached the horizon. When she awoke, she found Kakashi had already risen and had joined up with a few of the men from their caravan party and was setting things up with the wagon for the second string of their trip. Shifting her bag on her shoulder, Juni walked towards the group. A few of the men looked at her and nodded their heads. Kakashi glanced at her with his visible eye; a lingering gaze fell on her that made her inwardly shiver. She still didn’t get how he was capable of making it feel like her skin was crawling.

“How long until we leave?” She asks, setting her bag up in the wagon. She feigned a strained muscle in her shoulder, rubbing it tenderly.

“We plan to leave in less than half an hour,” one man responded, giving her a once over as well. “If you wish to gather food before we go, it would be best to do so now.”

Juni nodded, turning to head down the dusty path of the city to find a dealer open at this hour. She was lucky to find a small shop open, but was disappointed to see that the only thing the merchant had to offer was a few slices of day old bread, cheese, and a couple of thin slices of bacon. Thankful that there was food, Juni bought an order to eat. Some food was better than none after all.

The kunoichi munched on her small breakfast as she wandered back to the slowly growing group as more of their party arrived. More workers greeted her with a small nod when they noticed her standing there. She was to act like a woman now and less like a ninja. It meant not showing the strength she had to hide away. If she could help, she could have had everything finished in half the time it took the current men to set up.

She felt Kakashi join her at her side, his presence both soothing and nerve wracking. While she was looking away, the copy nin stole a slice of her bacon. Hearing him crunch on the piece, she turned to see him chewing. Her eyes narrowed when she noticed he had stolen her food and gave him a quick pop on the arm.

“If you had wanted some, all you had to do was ask,” she pouted. He smirked and poked her pout.

“Ahh… but then I would have missed your cute expressions,” he answered, an amused crease finding its way to his eye.

A few short claps from their caravan leader let them know that he had wanted everyone’s attention. Finishing up with her breakfast, Juni turned towards the man that had gathered into the center of the small group.

“I would like to first say good morning to everyone and glad to see you all here on time.” Juni took the time to look up at Kakashi and smirk, as him on time to anything was usually quite a shocker. “Also, I would like to give warning on this journey through the next few areas of bandits and rogues. A few patrons of the town bar last night spoke of rogues who have been stopping caravans and looting their supplies. We should be careful and alert to all of our surroundings today and into the evening. That being said, I believe we are ready to go.” He gave another few claps and the group began moving.

The walk along the path through rogue territory seemed peaceful for the group as they traveled along. Both Juni and Kakashi kept their chakra levels to a minimum to avoid having any trouble with bandits and rogues that might be on the look out for other ninja trespassing on their turf. So far, their trip had been safe. Juni was both worried and relieved that nothing had gone wrong, save for a few hormones that needed to be put in their place before something did go wrong.

It was late in the afternoon by the time they had reached the borders of the land surrounding the Water Country. The trees around them were growing scarce and less barren than the trees of Fire Country. The two shinobi could feel moisture in the air much different from what surrounds Kirigakure. This moisture was heavier and at the same time, perked up both ninja’s senses. Juni glanced to Kakashi, who in turn looked back to her.

“Something feels missing,” she murmured to him, studying their surroundings. “This mist feels too thick.”

“Agreed,” the silver haired man replied. His fingers itched to reach for a hidden kunai, but knew if he drew a weapon, it would likely cause panic among the group.

Juni felt a surge of chakra to both their left and right. Her heart skipped a beat in her chest. She used her senses to trace down how many there were that were hidden in both mist and trees. The horses pulling the wagon whinnied in uneasiness. The green haired kunoichi stepped closer to her partner then.

“There are two chakra signals on either side of us,” she whispered quietly. “They’re not even bothering trying to mask their identities. They’re circling around us, I’m guessing to set up an ambush.” Kakashi nodded in understanding.

“Stay calm and act naturally,” he murmured to her, giving a light and comforting pat on her shoulder. “All we do now is wait for their move. We cannot give ourselves away to them.” Juni nodded then.

“Understood.”

She knew he could feel them too, even as two lingered from behind and two moved on ahead of them. So that was their plan; they were going to try and trap them. Juni did everything in her power to stay calm and natural, as well as keep her chakra masked. She moved to the front of the caravan, lightly patting the nervous horses. Feeling the signals directly in front of them, she knew it was about to hit the fan.

In their path, the two ninja stood, blocking the way. Once again, the horses whinnied nervously, stamping at the ground with their hooves. A few of the men showed their uneasiness as well, quietly chattering amongst themselves. The leader of the caravan looked to both Juni and Kakashi not knowing what was going on. Juni moved her hand in a slight signal for him to stay calm. The man nodded, glancing to his men.

“Well, well… what do we have here?” One of the ninja in front of them spoke up. His posture was relaxed, while his partner was tense. She could tell the other wanted to either flee or kill without mercy. She would have to keep an eye on him. “Merchants? Farmers? And what’s this? A whore?” Juni’s eyes flashed with a suppressed anger. The tense man made a short chuckle, moving to join his partner.

“What say you to killing the men and taking the little lady back with us?” His voice was low, acid dripping in his tone. Juni felt a burning on her exposed skin as icy green eyes scanned over her. “I’d like to break her, feel her writhing under me, screaming. I want to feel her blood on my skin as I-“

“That is enough, Kizune,” the calmer one spoke, pressing a hand to his deranged partner’s shoulder. “There need not be any unnecessary killing today.” The saner of the two addressed the caravan again. “What business do you have in these parts?”

“We’re hoping to make it to the ferry before nightfall.” The caravan leader spoke up. “Please, step aside and let us pass.”

“I’m afraid we can’t let you do that,” the man spoke softly. “However… we will trade with you. We will trade your freedom and allow you to pass in exchange to the girl.”

“She’s not for trade,” Juni heard a voice behind her. She knew it was Kakashi. She smiled inwardly when she felt his hand on her shoulder. Juni looked up at him questioningly. He leaned closer to her. “The rear two have been dealt with.” He spoke in a very quiet whisper. She nodded ever so slightly.

“Perhaps we can change your mind,” the deranged one spoke, pulling forth a kunai blade in each hand, moving in a battle stance. He growled at them, baring his teeth.

Kakashi touched the small of her back, and she knew he had slipped a weapon into her obi for protection. He gave her a small glance before looking back to the two left. The calmer of the two didn’t seem to care to stop the other, even as he lunged at them. Kakashi blocked each jab thrown his way. Juni knew he had to focus on using only taijutsu and suppress his chakra so his identity would stay safe.

While Juni was so focused on the battle in front of her, she didn’t notice the other ninja sneak behind her until she could feel the chakra radiating off of his body as well as his heat as his arms snaked around her, a kunai to her throat. She gasped, startled. Kakashi, distracted by her gasp looked up towards her, taking a blow across his shoulder. He hissed in pain as he stumbled back. Injured, he continued to fight off the berserker ninja, dodging and blocking his blows.

When the silver haired jounin got an opening, he went for it. His leg lifted and served a harsh hook kick to the side of the smaller ninja’s head, followed with a round kick to his sternum. Juni heard the sickening crack as the ball of Kakashi’s foot hit his opponent and watched the man fly back and skid across the ground.

“Stop,” the man behind her commanded, pressing the kunai closer to her neck. She felt the point pressing into her skin, that sharp bite of the point and the sting of skin splitting. She grit her teeth, struggling in his hold. Stupid for the man holding her arms behind her back. Her fingers fumbled into the obi, grasping around the hidden blade there. “Take one more move and she dies.”

Groaning, the one known as Kizune was picking himself up. Even with cracked ribs and what looked to be a broken collar bone, the other still had stamina to fight. In his uninjured hand, he gripped his kunai, glaring at Kakashi. Blood dripped down his lip and chin as he growled at them both.

The sharingan user glanced to Juni again to make sure she was okay. His visible eye flickered as he saw the thin trail of blood along her throat. He clenched his hands into tight fists and made to run at them. With a snarl, the injured ninja darted at Kakashi to block him. Steel met steel as the kunai collided with Kakashi’s weapon, holding the other back.

“Ninja!” The man holding Juni gasped, loosening his grip on her ever so slightly. She took her chance then.

Juni lifted her foot and brought it down hard on her captor’s foot. He yelped in pain, jerking his arm back. The blade of his kunai pierced deep into her shoulder. She hissed in pain even as she pulled her kunai from her obi. Before she could turn around, however, the man lashed out with his weapon, striking her across her back. Juni yelped, feeling the burn as her flesh tore and blood immediately poured from the wound. This wasn’t supposed to happen.

The lithe kunoichi whipped around, striking with a back-fist jab to his jaw, laced with chakra. Magenta eyes glowed in adrenaline and panic as she attacked with speed and strength. She punched and jabbed at the man, sending kicks to both his knees and solarplex level. One swift kick to his right knee snapped the bones at the joint. He howled in pain, doubling over. She grinned wickedly and jumped.

“Juni! No!”

Too far gone in her own rage, she didn’t even hear the scream as she kicked in mid-air. The ball of her foot caught the man’s jaw. She both felt and heard the crunch of his jawbone and neck snapping. Blood spurted from his mouth, nose and ears even before he hit the ground several feet away. She didn’t have to check, she knew he was dead.

Kakashi cursed as he saw his partner fall into her rage. She’d used too much chakra than was needed. Cursing under his breath, he dodged more wild attacks before getting behind his enemy. When the other turned to lunge at him again, Kakashi struck.

He lashed out, his kunai slicing across the ninja’s exposed throat. Kizune’s eyes bulged as he dropped his weapons, his hands coming to his neck. Blood poured through his fingers and dripped to the ground. Realization hit him as he looked up at the silver haired man. His mouth opened to speak, but only a bloody bubble formed. Once it popped with his last exhaled breath, the ninja collapsed to the ground.

Kakashi looked to Juni as she turned toward him. Her skin was flushed, blood staining her clothes at her shoulder. He moved to her, concern on his face. He reached out to her with his good arm, but she brought her arm up to block him.

“Don’t,” she muttered, frowning. She couldn’t figure out why everything was so fuzzy around the edge. “The bodies… We must do something with them.” Kakashi shook his head.

“The bodies can wait. You’re hurt,” fear and panic was obvious in his tone. Blood was dripping from her clothes to the dirt path below them.

Juni ignored his words as she went to one of the men, trying to pick the body up. She struggled, not understanding why she was feeling nauseous and weak. Kakashi pulled her away, even as she tried to struggle from his hold.

“No.. we have to move them.” She shook her head, pulling from him. She stumbled, a hand moving to her head. She coughed. Why was it so hard to breathe? Slowly, she turned to Kakashi, confusion in her eyes. The way he looked at her scared her. Why were there tears in his eye? Why was everyone looking at her so grimly? “Kakashi… I…” her words cut off as she took a step forward.

Everything around her blurred even more around the edges. Her head felt heavy. In fact, her entire body felt heavy. The last thing she remembered was Kakashi rushing to her and the ground coming up fast before everything went black.
