Nikana: The last reveiw was fine. It made me laugh after making Sasuke such a bastard and Naruto depressed.

Chapter 3: Naru-chan's Gone?!
Kyuubi made good time. He was already 4 hours away before somebody decided to check up on Naruto. Well, it was more like Sasuke was forced to get him when he didn't show up for a team lunch at Ichiraku's.
Sasuke knocked, but nobody came to answer the door. Not wanting to waste time, he decided to let himself in...until he figured out that the door was locked for the first time in 5 years. 'The one time I need to get in, and he locks the door.' Sasuke went to the window, and found it unlocked.
"Naruto?" Sasuke walked from room to room, listening for any signs of life. "Naruto? I know you're mad at me, but we have a team lunch at Ichiraku's. Ramen always makes you feel better." The only answer was the sound of a mouse running away from the loud noise that was Sasuke.
When he turned to leave through the window, something shiney caught his eyes. Looking at it, he saw Naruto's headband on top of a note. Sasuke read through it quickly, and his normally emotionless face was replaced with shock.
"Damn it. Tsunade's going to kill someone." With that, Sasuke ran off to the Hokage tower.
"Come in," a voice called through the door. She already sounded irritated, which only made Sasuke even more nervous. But he knew that if he hesitated, then she'd get mad.
"Hello Hokage-sama," Sasuke said once the doors closed behind him.
"Uchiha? What are you doing here?"
Instead of answering, he walked up and handed her the note and headband. Just seeing Naruto's most precious artical of clothing made Tsunade freeze. 'This can't be good.'

Dear Tsunade-sama (and whoever that else reads this),
Naruto can live with the hate and the beatings. He can live without knowing his parents,without having any family at all. He can live with having his old sensai as a father and the Hokage as a sister.
But he can't live without love. Naruto loves his 'family', but the one person he'll accept as a mate does not love him back.
He just needs a break. I convinced him to leave the village for a while, but left his headband here. Don't classafy him as a missing nin. We are not going to tell random people about Konoha's weaknesses, nor will we join another ninja village.
Normally this is where I say 'don't try to track us', but I know you will anyways. You won't have any luck, though. I've lived for thousands of years; I know how to cover my tracks.
I promise to take care of him.

Kyuubi was right, of course. Tsunade couldn't just sit by while her little brother ran around to unknown places. A few members of the Akatsuki were still out there. She wanted her best stratagest to help figure this out. "Go get Shikamaru."
"Hai Tsunade-sama." Sasuke ran as quickly as possible.
Tsunade took this time to compose herself. It would not look good for her to break down in tears in front of other people. She grabbed a bottle of sake and drank straight from it.

Shikamaru was about to complain about how troublesome it was to run as fast as possible to the Hokage Tower, until he heard that it was about Naruto.
"What happened to him?"
"He's gone."
Shikamaru sped up. He knew how fast the Kyuubi vessle could be when he wanted to get away. The boys stopped and walked in the room without knocking.
"You wanted to see me, Hokage-sama?" Shikamaru asked.
"Shikamaru, you're here already. Sasuke must have told you."
"Only that Naruto is gone."
Tsunade handed Nara the letter. He didn't look as surprised as she thought he would. "You won't be looking for Naruto if you do try track him."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"I was passing by the traning grounds earlier and saw Naruto in the middle of red and blue chakra. I couldn't feel it, but it looked like almost all of his chakra had come out of his body. Before I could go check on him, red eyes opened as he stood up. His teeth were sharper than usual and his movements more gracefull. If you try to find him, you will be looking for Kyuubi."
Sasuke's eyes went wide. "He let Kyuubi take over? Why didn't you say anything sooner?"
"I didn't know he was leaving, and he made sure that I felt the killing intent if I tried."
Tsunade massaged her temples. "How do you track a demon?"
"Kurenai-san's old team. From the rookie nine. They are some of the best trackers in Konoha."
"Right. Go get them. Sasuke, don't you have some place to be?"
"Yeah," Sasuke said softly. He went to see if Kakashi and Sakura were still at Ichiraku's.
"Sasuke, what took you so long? And where's Naruto?" Sakura asked as soon as he walked in.
Still staring at the ground, he answered. "Naruto's gone."
Ayame had been refilling Kakashi's drink when she heard that, and almost dropped the glass. "Naru-chan's gone?! Why? Where did he go? Who is he with? What happened? When did this happen? Father, Naruto disappered!"
"Gone?! Naruto doesn't just get up and disapper like that! I had a surprise for him, too."
Sasuke answered the question as best he could, not wanting to say anything about Kyuubi. "He left because he needed a break, we don't know where he went, but Tsunade is already sending out Shino's team, as far as we know, he isn't with anybody, I don't know what happened, and I think it happened around 8:00."
Sasuke and Sakura were acting like Naruto and Sakura did when Sasuke went to Orochimaru. Kakashi sighed. "All we can do is wait for the team to come back."

Shikimaru, Hinata, Shino, Kiba, and Akamaru stood in front of Tsunade. "Shikamaru, show them where you saw Naruto change. The rest of you track him from there."
"Shino?" Hinata asked quietly.
"Yes Hinata?"
"What about that Bikochu beetle?"
"It died last year."
"Oh. Well, I guess we should get going, then."
The team followed Shikamaru to the training grounds that Naruto was on when he changed.
Hinata activated her Byakugan. "I see it. There's Naruto's chakra, Kyuubi's chakra, and what seems to be a mix between the two. It goes this way." She pointed to her right, which is the direction of Naruto's appartment.
"Well, I did all I can do. Good luck, guys." Shikamaru left.
On their way to Naruto's house, Hinata stopped.
"What is it, Hinata?" Kiba asked.
"His chakra splits off here. He must have gone to his house, them come back and went that way," she said as she pointed towards the village gates. "He already left the village."
"Then let's hurry!" They followed the stronger chakra path.
An hour away from the village, Hinata stopped again. "Now what's wrong?"
"It stopped."
"What?"
"The chakra path. It just stopped. I can't see it anywhere."
Kiba and Akamaru sniffed around. "I can't smell him. Can you, Akamaru?" The large dog whined a no.
Shino let out a bunch of male bugs. At the confused looks, he explained. "When Naruto got back from the Valley of the End, I put a female beetle on him so that we could find him if he decided to run off on his own."
Out of other ways to find him, the team followed the bugs.

Kyuubi stopped and dug around in his hair. After a few minutes of searching, he pulled out one of Shino's female beetles. "I can't believe I forgot about this. Ah, well. Bug boy won't miss one little beetle." With that, the fox squished it so that she couldn't show anybody of his location.

They followed the small swarm for another two hours. Suddenly, all of the bugs gathered around the ground. Shino when to see what was wrong, and got a little irritated. "He killed her."
"Who killed who?" Kiba asked.
"Kyuubi. He found my beetle and killed her."
Activating her Byakugan again, Hinata looked around. "I still can't sense his chakra."
"And we can't smell him," Kiba said.
Shino sighed. He was going to miss the loud blonde, and Hinata would be worse. "We failed the mission. Let's go back."
