Red or Blue?
Chapter Three - Red or Blue?
She’d asked for two weeks, and she’d gotten it. The decision was not a light one, and she’d certainly put a lot of thought into it, but still an answer was not forthcoming. Not that she didn’t love them both, just the opposite, in fact. She loved each of them dearly, differently.
Sasuke’s cool stare sent shivers down her spine, and Naruto’s heated gaze warmed her to the core.
Sasuke was the heir to a vast fortune and owned not only a house, but an entire neighborhood, while Naruto was completely on his own with only a small, one-room apartment that smelled of stale ramen.
But Naruto was one of the strongest ninja in the village, a recognized favorite of the Hokage, and well on his way to achieving that title himself, while Sasuke was the village traitor, who had left on a quest for power, willingly giving himself over to their worst enemy.
It would have been so much easier if they’d been stupid, arrogant boys, just like they’d always been. If they’d just fought it out on their own, and one of them had stepped aside, it wouldn’t be her fault that one of them was going to go home that night heartbroken.
She’d hoped two weeks would be sufficient time to make a decision, but it wasn’t. She didn’t dare ask for advice on this one. No one could understand her inner struggle, and everyone’s opinion would be biased, one way or another. Some would be biased for a candidate, some against, and some by their own desires. No, she had to figure this out on her own.
Why are they making me choose? I don’t want one and not the other. I want them both!
She was being selfish and cruel. Perhaps it would be better to turn them both down and date someone else for a while. Lee certainly wouldn’t object, even if she did tell him up front that it would never go anywhere. The thought made her smile, and she drifted off to sleep.
