Dark Temptations

fallen_angelz: Hey, everybody! Thanks for the review, I seriously enjoy reading them. Okay, one question: How do you get the italics and stuff to stick? I can't seem to figure that one out so if anybody can help me out with that, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Chapter Two

They had gone on a simple investigation and came back with a child?
Tsunade watched with slight amusement as Naruto attempted to get the dark haired girl they called Mahina to calm down. All it took for Mahina to start panicking was look at Tsunade. “Hey, Mahina, it’s okay. She’s a nice lady.” Naruto said as he patted the little girl’s back.
“Mahina?” Tsunade questioned.
“Naruto named her.” Kakashi answered.
“Naruto named a child and it’s actually rather decent?”
Naruto made a face at the insinuation before answering, “Hey, I just said a bunch of names and she responded to that one the best!”
“That was the only one she’d even answer to.” Sakura reminded Naruto.
Tsunade waved her hand a little, drawing their attention back to giving their mission report. “Where exactly did you find the girl?” Tsunade asked patiently.
“In one of Orochimaru’s experimenting facilities. Naruto found her first then he called Sakura.” Kakashi explained. “From what the both of them say, she was staring off into space and seemed to be in her own little world. Naruto’s the only one who can pull her out, it would appear.”
Had the bastard been experimenting on the child? What the hell had he done to her? “Take her to the hospital for testing. I’ll even do the tests myself.” Tsunade said calmly. “Sai and Sakura, you two are dismissed. Naruto, go ahead and take Mahina to the hospital. Kakashi, I believe you want a word with me?”
“Yes, Lady Tsunade.”
The two waited until they were alone before Tsunade nodded slightly for Kakashi to begin. “After retrieving the girl, I noticed how she’d shy away from Sai and myself. She won’t even allow Sakura to be near her.” Kakashi said calmly. “The only one she’ll allow near her is Naruto.”
“Well, he did find her.”
“Yes, but I think there’s something else to it. It’s like she senses that Naruto’s different and feels that they’re alike.”
“It’s not exactly a secret that Naruto does get lonely sometimes and that girl just screams that she was lonely.”
“I also request that she’s checked for sexual abuse.”
Tsunade raised an eyebrow slightly as she looked at the copy-nin. “Kakashi, I highly doubt that Naruto would…” Tsunade started but fell silent when Kakashi shook his head.
“I know Naruto wouldn’t have done anything to harm her, but I have a feeling that Mahina had been abused.”
The woman was silent for a moment as she thought, knowing full well that Orochimaru didn’t have any morals. She wouldn’t have put it past him to molest a child and wouldn’t be surprised that if Sasuke came back, he’d be screwed up because of the bastard. “Alright, I’ll check.” Tsunade said with a small nod. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a child to check over.”

“Mahina, you’re safe. This stuff’s okay.” Naruto said, trying to calm the little girl down.
Mahina looked around anxiously, her heart racing frantically against her chest. She halfway expected Kabuto to go through the door and into the room, holding onto a needle filled with a green liquid that made her feel strange. She nearly jumped out of her skin when someone knocked on the door and darted behind Naruto as Tsunade came into the room. “Mahina, calm down. It’s only Tsunade.” Naruto said trying to get the girl out from behind him. “Mahina, knock it off. You’re fine.”
Tsunade internally winced at the look of wild terror in Mahina’s eyes but managed to keep looking as professional as she could. “Mahina, I’m not going to hurt you. I want to see what Orochimaru did to you.” Tsunade said gently.
That got Mahina’s attention.
The little girl rolled up her sleeves and stuck her arms out, showing them bruises and needle marks. When she was satisfied with their reactions, she covered her arms back up as if they had no right to see what had been done. “Do you know what they put into you?” Naruto asked gently.
Mahina tilted her head back a little and shook her head, not really caring anyway. “I want to run a blood sample to see if she’s in any way related to any clans or any family here in Konoha.” Tsunade explained.
Tsunade’s words grew fainter as Mahina felt all forms of reality slipping away. “Mahina? Mahina, come back…” she heard Naruto say, his voice growing fainter until she heard absolutely nothing.

It didn’t make sense.
Tsunade was silent as she looked at the little girl that stared blindly into space, wondering if the child was at all aware of the fact she had just been admitted into the hospital for an overnight stay. She remembered being told that the girl spaced off and that Naruto was the only one who could pull her out, but for some strange reason the blonde was unable to.
It was obvious that the girl was suffering from stress brought on from being one of Orochimaru’s test subjects as well as being molested and raped only God knew how many times, but Tsunade couldn’t shake the feeling in her gut that something was seriously wrong. It was as if there was something lurking deep within the child that was hidden deep within the child’s flesh.
The girl’s blood tests had come back revealing that some unknown components had been injected into the child while scans revealed nothing out of the ordinary. No, that wasn’t right. The portion of the brain that controlled memories was flaring constantly and the part of the mind that allowed people to imagine was flaring just as constantly. A war within the child’s mind, Tsunade mused grimly.
The woman watched as the child laid back onto the bed, resting her head down onto the pillow, her eyes still rather distant. Was she even aware of what was going on now or was her body acting on its own accord? Just what the hell was going on?!
Fear gripped the old woman’s heart as the blankets that rested at the child’s feet steadily slipped up the child’s body, resting at her chin. Was she a freak of nature or part of a clan? Was she able to move the blankets and tuck herself in because of a natural ability or because of Orochimaru’s experiments?
Was she even human?
Deciding she’d have more tests run in the morning, Tsunade left the room and closed the door behind her. Before leaving the hospital, she warned the nurses to be careful around Mahina until the child was discharged. “After all,” said Tsunade with a serious look, “it’s still unclear what happened and we don’t want an accident.”
Or even a death.

fallen_angelz: Okay, now that the chapter's done, I'm gonna leave it to you guys to read and review. Again, if anybody can tell me how to make the italics and stuff stick, I would greatly appreciate it.
