Chapter 3: His and Her Feelings...

(A/N: Thanks again for the reviews and comments and such! I really appreciate them!)

~*~*~*~*~*~

“Man, I’m really sorry about that, Kiba.”

Kiba could only grin and shrug as he carried the unconscious Hinata on his back. She hadn’t woken up since she’d fainted. Naruto, feeling guilty, decided to walk Kiba and Hinata home.

“It’s okay, I guess she isn’t used to seeing blood.”

“I’m really sorry, Kiba-Kun.”

”It’s no problem, Naruto! It’s okay! You really shouldn’t beat yourself up. After all, you saved her life.”

Kiba let out a small sigh and Naruto watched his close friend’s features change to that of a wistful smile.

“I guess I’m not doing my job as well as I’d hoped.”

”Your job? Oh, yeah, that’s right…! Sakura-Chan told me everything. You’re Hinata’s new guardian, right?”

”Guardian is such a strong term…I guess what I really am with her is someone who wants to protect her. Hiashi-Sama uses the term ‘playmate’.”

”Is that what you’ve been up to for the past month?”

Kiba nodded and stopped once standing in the shadow of the enormous Hyuuga mansion. Naruto’s eyes couldn’t have gotten any wider. Sure, he’d passed by it several times, but he’d never been so close. He’d never had any reason to get any closer.

“Naruto,”

The blue-eyed boy turned to look at Kiba who was staring upwards at the mansion with a relaxed expression on his face. Hinata continued to rest peacefully on his back and Naruto could have sworn he saw her crack a small smile in her sleep. Kiba release a deep sigh and smiled.

“This is where I first met Hinata and where I first came to care about her.”

”C…care about her? You mean…?”

Kiba grinned, a slight blush staining his cheeks. He shook his head and sighed.

”No, not like that. When I first met her, she seemed so delicate and scared. Neji’s so damn reluctant to do his duties and protect her and watch over her, she’s virtually helpless. It angered me to no end and I don’t know why, but I decided to become her new guardian, well, atleast an outside source of protection. For the past month, I’ve played with her, kept her company, read to her and stayed with her until she fell asleep at night…”

Kiba felt Hinata stir a little and looked at Naruto.

“I want to protect her without fail and know that even though it may seem like she lives in this prison she calls home, there will always be someone to help her and protect her and show her there is more to living than just what’s inside of the Hyuuga manor.”

Hinata stirred a little more and Kiba smiled at waved at Naruto.

“Well, I need to get her inside! I’ll talk to you later, thanks again, Naruto.”

”No problem.”

Naruto waited until Kiba was out of sight, beyond the walls of the Hyuuga stronghold. He stuck his hands in his pocket and gave a small grin. He knew Kiba’s feelings for Hinata ran a little deeper than just wanting to protect her. Naruto started off, Kiba waving back at him for a brief moment before continuing on. The maids came and bathed Hinata, despite her dream-like state, while another maid led Kiba to eat dinner with the Hyuugas who’d graciously accepted him, especially because it took a large amount of patience to deal with Hinata’s mannerisms, such as her annoying stuttering or her shyness. As Kiba took his place in between Neji and Hiashi, the older Hyuuga leader could only smile.

“I heard you took Hinata out to play today, Kiba-San.”

”Hai…I didn’t do anything wrong, did I?”

“Of course not. Truth be told, I’m glad she feels safe with you. Hopefully getting her to meet some of the other children will further her training!”

“Training?” Neji rasped, almost choking on his rice.

Hiashi nodded a little and addressed Kiba, more so than Neji.

“I’ve been thinking about Hinata’s training lately. As an heiress, she must know all of the proper training to become a great kunoichi. Moreover, Kiba, I believe that with your guidance, my daughter may not be as useless as I took her to be.”

“M…me? But, I don’t think I’m skilled to train someone else! I’m barely learning myself!”

“Nonsense. I can’t trust Neji to train her without killing her,” Hiashi chuckled.

Neji huffed, turning his attention back to his food. Kiba couldn’t tell if Hiashi was joking or kidding.

“I have arranged for Kurenai-Sama to take Hinata under her wing. Kiba, on the days when Hinata is not with Kurenai, you are to take care of her. She’ll be your charge from this day on.”

“But…!”

“I won’t take no for an answer.” Hiashi smiled.

Kiba froze on the spot. That smile usually meant ‘And by I won’t take no for an answer, I’ll have to kill you if you choose to reject this offer’. Kiba looked at Neji who was still sulking. Kiba turned to finish eating his food, excusing himself when he found out Hinata was awake. The third floor where Hinata’s room was barely illuminated with the light from the full moon. Kiba knocked on her door politely before entering. Hinata was sitting up on her futon, staring out of the window.

“Hinata-Chan, what’s the matter?”

“Kiba-Kun, how are you?”

”I should ask you the same thing.”

Kiba sat down beside Hinata’s bedside with a small smile. When he could just sit at her side like this, he knew he didn’t have to wish for anything more.

“Did my father tell you about the training he’s having me do?”

“Yeah, don’t worry, I’ll take good care of you and I’ve met Kurenai-sensei! She’s really nice.”

Hinata released another sigh before looking at Kiba. When he glanced at her, she looked at her lap once more. Kiba noticed she began playing with her fingers and he just knew there was something wrong.

“Hinata-Chan…?”

“Um…N…Nar…Naruto-Kun…is a friend of yours?”

”Yeah, he’s pretty good, though…Well…he hasn’t had it easy.”

”What do you mean?”

”People shun him for one reason or the other. We don’t really know why, me and the other kids I mean. He lives by himself, I think both of his parents died a long time ago.”

”Then who’s been taking care of him?” Hinata asked, alarm filling her pale eyes.

“The Third, I believe.”

“I see…”

“Why do you ask?”

Hinata shook her head and turned her attention back outside to the window. Hinata laid down and Kiba tucked her in with a smile. He waited until she was sound asleep before finally taking his leave. He stood up, silent as a shadow, and headed for the door. A floorboard beneath his foot creaked and Hinata stirred. Kiba turned silently, to see if she’d waken, but the only sound she made resembled a whisper. Was she dreaming? Kiba kneeled down, faintly hearing her whisper,

“…daisuki…”

Kiba blushed with a small smile and kissed her forehead. She was so damn adorable sometime. Kiba stood up and left the room, catching Neji in the hallway.

“Kiba,”

”Neji, I’m going home.”

“I see.”

Kiba walked past Neji, not really wanting to get into it with him right now.

“A word of advice, Inazuka-San,”

Kiba didn’t even turn around, just merely stopped to hear him out.

“There will come a time where Hinata will be your downfall. Weaklings never change.”

”What did you say…?” Kiba replied with a low growl.

Neji said nothing else and turned to head to his own room. Kiba released the tension in his body and left, heading to his own home. Tomorrow, his training with Hinata Hyuuga would begin. As he laid in bed, he stared at the ceiling, a small grin breaking out on his face at Hinata’s word; ‘Daisuki’...

(A/N: Hope you guys liked it and for those of you who don’t know, ‘Daisuki’ means ‘I like you’, romantically. Awww, cute moment! Anyway, thanks for the reviews, they make me very happy and as for the comment to me finishing the reversal for Unfaithful, I’ll get on that as soon as I finish this story! I promise, I won’t make it too long, but when I’m not working on this one, I’ll be working on Unfaithful Reversed. Thankies all!)
