It Wasn't Meaningless.
Author's Note: Thanks so much guys for the encouraging reviews. Keep them coming. I would like to keep having your feedback on this so that I can improve my writing style and continue with this project.

To answer some of the questions:
Sasuke and Naruto in this story had been together for a short time and this is a collaberation of their thoughts on the matter as they are apart from each other. Their relationship had fallen apart and they are thinking back on what had happened to them as older people.
"The Last Night" as the title is referring to a night when I myself had a conversation with a friend whom had helped me through a difficult time. I still have trouble with the flash-backs of that time and this is my way of relieving me of those troubles.
I hope this cleared the air for some of you questioning what is going on here. Thank you for your patience and support.

"Why, Naruto? Why would you go that far for me?" He asked, bewildered that someone would care that much for him could exist.
"Because, you're my friend, Sasuke! You're not just some piece of ass that I had last night!"
He closed his eyes as the memory seeped through. Sasuke turned on his side, trying to get some sleep. No good. He sighed in aggitation and got up, no longer wanting to be in his bedroom. Why couldn't he stop thinking about that day? Honestly...who dwelled that much about something that happened three years ago?
He could still picture it clearly. The rage upon Naruto's kind face. What could he have possibly said that would have made him that angry with Sasuke? Who was fooling who now? Of course he knew what it was.
His own stupidity drove him away. Those hateful words of his own. They were like fire spitting out at his friend that still held a tourch for him. Seven months in this place alone could drive you crazy. And Sasuke knew that for a fact. Being stuck as Orochimaru's puppet was not what he had expected it to be.
Like so many others that had fallen into his trap. He wasn't fooled. He knew what sacrifices for power that he had to make. Leaving Naruto was one of those sacrifices. He wouldn't be forgiven, he knew that. But for some reason...He felt that maybe there was a chance that he could be.
A reason to fight back, wasn't it? A reason to keep going. A new one. Not just some mindless journey of hatred based on revenge. Revenge...Sasuke's life purpose. Or was that really what he was meant for all this time?
Kakashi had told him to let it go. Should he have done what they had told him? No. He made his pact with the Sound and couldn't go back...Wouldn't go back. Not to that life. Feeling so powerless and antsy for revenge when it was just within his reach if only he stopped being so weak.
But alas, it wasn't ALL meaningless. He closed his eyes and remembered.
Soft golden locks against his skin. His body shook at the memory and the tears threatened to pour from his eyes again. He held them back. "I can't do this."
"Can't do what?"
Sasuke turned around. A blonde-haired beauty stood before him, eyes narrowed. He frowned. "Naruto."
"I found you."
"I thought I had told you to stay away from me..."
He had. Hadn't he?
