The troubled Hokage was struggling to keep his wits about him,as his humble advisors attempted to calm him; however,it simply wasn't working.

"I know,I know!" Naruto moaned, raking his fingers through threads of tangible sunshine. It was about the seventh time that Tsunade had scolded him for allowing Sasuke to leave his office. Honestly,he hadn't been the only one in the room! Why had he been the only one expected to stop him? Naruto still couldn't figure out why Sasuke had suddenly changed his attitude in the first place; whatever. He would definitely talk to him sooner than later. Right now,the Uchiha and the village intruder were probably battling it out,toe to toe. Fortunately,he hadn't heard any crashes or explosions yet. For now,it was safe to assume that things were under control.

For now.

"Naruto!" Tsunade screamed, slamming a red nailed hand down onto his desk. He'd managed to avoid her wrath eariler, rightfully shifting the blame on his younger rival, but karma sure had a shitty way of coming back to bite you in the ass. The Seventh Hokage straightened himself up,and forced himself to look into the amber eyes of the woman glowering before him. Naruto knew he had to stand up for his own actions,no matter who was against them. The Fifth herself, had told him that during his apprenticeship; perhaps, she was just testing him.

"Sorry,Baa-chan. I understand why you're angry, but this has a lot to do with Sasuke and his clan. If anyone can do anything about the current situation,I'd place my bet on him. Wouldn't you?"

"Not a chance," the blonde woman replied without hesitation, gritting her teeth. Naruto held back the urge to shake his head at her conflicted display. Of course, she wouldn't take that sort of gamble. This was the Legendary Sitting Duck they were talking about here. If,for whatever reason, she'd place her bet on something this reasonable, the world would most likely go up in flames or cave in on itself. The thought of Tsunade winning a bet was just unthinkable; she probably never would.

"Just what we need," Tsunade continued, crossing her arms over her chest. "Not one,but two Uchiha roaming around Konoha. Naruto, you'd better have a way to deal with all of this,"

"They could multiply," Sai's voice spoke up from the corner of the room, where he and Sakura were leaning against the wall. "Baby Uchihas everywhere..." his expression didn't seem to be reflecting any thoughts on what he was saying. Naruto's eyes narrowed. Was he just spewing bullshit?

"God,help us," Tsunade sighed, slapping a hand over her diamond adorned forehead. "If that sort of thing should happen,I don't know what I'll do,"

"It's not something you need to worry about,Lady Tsunade," Sakura said

"This is all Naruto's responsibility now. Let's just allow him to handle things, okay?"

The Fifth's hand slipped away from her forehead, and she allowed her shoulders to fall in apparent relent. "Well,I guess...Do you think you can handle this,Naruto?"

"H-huh?" the blond frowned, scratching a whiskered cheek with one finger. His fingers drummed idley on his desk for a moment,as if he actually needed to consider the question. "W-well,if Sasuke wants to revive his clan, then that's really none of my--"

"Not that, you idiot!" Tsunade bellowed. Naruto winced beneath the magnitude of her voice. Why did this woman always insist on being so loud? While her appearance clearly shown that she was all woman, she seemed more like a short-tempered barbarian in the body of a goddess. Naruto sighed and rolled his eyes, about to ask what she'd really meant, when suddenly there came a knock on the office door.

"Just go in," said a familiar, leveled voice, baring a hint of irritation. All heads turned to the closed door, including Naruto,as the knob slowly began to turn and then...

"I've come for your Hokage!"

"Idiot!" Sasuke hissed, following into the room after a woman who was petite in comparison to him. Naruto's gaze shifted from his friend to the unfamiliar presence. Dark, wild hair and fierce, navy blue eyes pierced like daggers in his direction, almost sizing him up and anaylzing him intently in their wake. It had taken him all but five seconds to figure out who she was.

With threatening words in tact, the intensity of the room had suddenly surged, almost tangibly. The female Uchiha's eyes wandered cautiously over her new surroundings, taking in and briefly studying every startled face that stared back at her. When they last turned to the center of the silent room,Naruto couldn't help but leaned back behind his desk, betraying the slightest bit of discomfort.

Those eyes were mentally disecting every fiber of his being.

"You the Hokage?" the woman asked, crossing her arms. Her question had been directed straight to the blond, who frowned inwardly at her lucky guess. Well, perhaps it wasn't luck. He was the only one sitting in front of a desk, after all.

Sure, this woman came off as rather intimidating, but with only Sasuke to use in comparison,Naruto could only conclude that this just came with the territory of an Uchiha. It was something he was familiar with,so he should be able to deal with it easily. Right?

"Y-yes,that's me--" Naruto began to say.

"Bang!"

"Nagisa!" Sasuke growled. The entire room suddenly jumped to their feet, crowded around the Hokage's desk as they briskly assumed a defensive stance. The woman held up her hand, pointing two fingers in Naruto's direction, and though he'd anticipated some sort of attack, nothing had come. With this realization registering with the group of unnerved shinobi, the tension in the room gradually diminished, and they fell into a lessened, though still cautioned state.

"See,you could have been dead right now,if I wanted you to be," Nagisa laughed haughtily, coat tails flying out gently behind her as she sauntered over to the Hokage's desk. Naruto's cerulean eyes rose to meet hers, suddenly startled with a small jump as she slammed her hand down on top of the wooden surface. A genuine, playful grin curved up at the corners of her pouty lips, brightening up the rest of her face. "Good thing I'm not an enemy, huh?"

"I wonder about that," said the voice of Shikamaru. With a deep sigh,he titled his head back, eyes closed as if the task of even looking at the girl was something he found entirely troubling. From the moment the two Uchiha had entered the room,he'd managed to slip in unnoticed, taking refuge at the wall to the far right of the room. As he'd predicted, the mischevious Uchiha woman had already begun to cause trouble, without having stepped two feet into the room. Unlike her male relative, who was silent and brooding, this girl was as loud-mouthed and unpredictable as the current,wide-eyed Hokage in question.

"That was completely uncalled for," Yamato said, all but authoritiveness and professionalism in his tone. "Making such threats to someone of Naruto's status--"

"She's right," Naruto said, his expression still owlish. He continued to look at the woman who's grin became even wider then. Yamato's eyes narrowed, the blond's reply having left him at a loss for words.

"W-what? But Naruto..."

"Security really could be a lot tighter on this floor," Naruto said, offering the female Uchiha a smile of his own, while scratching the back of his spikey blond head. "We've been a little lax since a couple years ago, since things have been going well. But I guess that's no reason not to keep our gaurds up,"

"Uh-huh,that's right," the woman nodded,matter-of-factly. Without another word, she turned her back on the blond to study the rest of the group. Their expressions ranged from curious to mildly discouraged. It was only to be expected, but not to worry. Nagisa would explain herself soon.

The male Uchiha that had previously been her opponent brushed past her without so much as a glance, and walked over the Hokage's desk. "Naruto. I'd like to know your next course of action," he told the blond, his dark eyes betraying no hints of genuine concern. Naruto knew why he had asked, but he wasn't going to hold it over his head. He was sure that everyone else in the room shared the same curiousity, though probably a lesser amount.

"That all depends on why she's here," Naruto replied, looking past the man. All eyes fell on the woman,as she took a step forward next to Sasuke. Naruto lifted his calm gaze from his friend, and shifted it onto Nagisa, waiting for her response.

"W-well..." Nagisa began, trying her best to avoid Sasuke's stern gaze. For some reason, she had a feeling that her previously fabricated sob story wasn't going to work as well on these people,as it had the pair of gaurd nin; especially the Hokage. Nevertheless, she had already told it,and she was sure that there were others that were aware. Nagisa would just have to vamp it up a bit.

"It's been about nine years since I stepped into this village," she continued. "I've been traveling for a while now,and--"

"What made you return?" interrupted the blond man, blue eyes narrowed skeptically. Gone, was the friendly, inviting grin from before. A serious expression replaced the look on his face, and Nagisa found it suprising how well it touched his eyes. The silence in the room was deafening, and it suddenly felt as though if she spoke again, her voice would lose all of its sincerity under the weight of pressure.

But she was a shinobi. Someone well trained in the art of deciet by the great Itachi Uchiha. Remembering this nearly brought a smile to her lips, and once again, her confidence was refueled.

"I heard about the one called the Orange Ninja. The Seventh Hokage. It was you, who's brought the shinobi world to its current level of peace. My family perished in a violent death on just the outskirts of this village, you see. That's why..." Nagisa leaned over the desk, causing the whiskered man to tense up instinctively.

The woman extended her hand suddenly, navy eyes staring intently into Naruto's cerulean blue ones. He swallowed thickly, not quite sure at first what this abrupt gesture meant. Once again, the wide grin appeared on her full, pouty lips, highlighting every inch of her angelic face. The room remained as it was, dead silent, and Naruto could feel every eye on him, everyone ready to strike should they catch even the slightest scent of blood in the water.

Nagisa tilted her cherub face, and turned her hand over, palm up.

"Let's be friends,"

Sasuke's head whipped to the side, his dark eyes reflecting with disbelief at the unforseen proposal of the woman next to him. So that was her objective? To just be friends? If that was the truth, then the Uchiha had no choice but to admit that the effectiveness of his blond friend's charisma had grown to be practically limitless. To be able to draw someone so impossible out of the shadows by only attracted curiousity at a time like this was just so unreal. Sasuke, himself had thought he'd long ago built up an immunity to the ruthful charm that his rival had always carried about him,but Naruto, even after all these years, had proved to be just as unpredictable as ever.

There truely was no escaping or shunning the essence that was the Orange Ninja,Naruto Uzumaki.

"Friends?" Naruto repeated, all skepticality now melted away,as he grinned from ear to ear. "Aw,man. Well, sure why not. Hahaha,"

A series of sighs and grumbles sounded throughout the room, and Nagisa could feel them shifting around almost reluctantly where they stood. Had they wanted a fight? Well,it was out of the question now. Her attention was drawn back to the blond man behind the desk,as his hand reached out and took hers into his with a gentle squeeze. "I'm Naruto Uzumaki," he told her.

"Nagisa Uchiha," Nagisa replied, allowing her hand to slip away. It settled back down onto the desk where she flexed her fingers. His touch had been warm, and almost too friendly. 'Too friendly?' she frowned at the thought. 'How can anything as simple as a handshake be too friendly?'

"Well,Nagisa," Naruto laughed. "You sent us all on a really wild goose chase today. But since you're here now,I was hoping that the three of us could talk alone," his eyes shifted to Sasuke, who then righted himself and crossed his arms. Tsunade, who'd made her way towards the front of the room acted as if she would object, but Naruto turned her away lightly.

"The three of this?" the raven male repeated. "As in...?"

"You,Nagisa and I," Naruto replied. Without a word, the other ninja had begun to file out of the office, suddenly leaving the room practically bare. Sasuke's posture eased up,and he dropped his hands to his sides, while Naruto propped his legs up on his desk and leaned back in his chair. "My next course of action..." the blond's lips curled up into his usual goofy smile. He looked between the two Uchiha before him, dragging out the intensity and silence between the division of his sentence. "...is up to you,"

Sasuke's brow furrowed. "Up to me?" he repeated. Nagisa idley tilted her head up to the ceiling, getting lost in the various painted swirls drawn along the surface. Her attention had easily been lost from the conversation,as she was not one who focused well.

"...Well,I figured that you'd want to take her in," was the startling sentence that had brought her back down to earth. Nagisa's head snapped down from the ceiling, eyes wide and suddenly alert, though the presence of her returned attentiveness seemed to go unnoticed by the raven and the blond.

Sasuke sighed, scratching at the back of his choppy black hair with a troubled frown. It wasn't like he hadn't expected this to be Naruto's final resolve. He'd known from the start, and even considered himself, that no one other than him would be better to keep watch over his new female counterpart. What he hadn't expected, was her to be awnry about the suggestion. Sasuke was angered that she in fact, had brought herself back into the conversation just to object.

"No," Nagisa said, crossing her arms over herself. She held a look of such defiance that not even Naruto tried to persuade her. Sasuke was no smooth talker, but he knew that he could be the only one to change her mind. Letting his hands fall away from his hair, the raven's shoulders dropped and he turned to face Nagisa.

"Look..." he mumbled, not quite looking into the woman's eyes. He found it to be a difficult task to even look at her face. By no means, was she hard on the eyes, but the intensity of dark blue orbs was, perhaps even more intimidating than his own. "I don't want to force you into anything, but it would probably be in your best interest if--"

"I'm not interested in you,Uchiha," she replied, brushing him off as if he were a fly in her way. Her attention turned back to Naruto, and an almost flirtatious smile drew up on her lips. A flare of heat rose to Sasuke's face, immediately angered that he'd been disregaurded in such an arrogant manner. That was supposed to be his way of doing things; not hers. And what was this pet name she'd given him, simply calling him Uchiha? Did she see him as an equal,or did she feel superior? All of these troubling thoughts began to boil up inside Sasuke, until they bubbled over like a pot of water overheating on a stove. An audible hiss sounded from the Uchiha's lips, and before he could stop himself, his hand slammed down on the desk between his friend and the woman.

"You are coming with me," he told her,and before she could argue, his hand snatched her wrist and he dragged her angrily out of the room.

"H-hey!" she cried, her free hand flying out desperately out to a helpless looking Naruto. "Naruto! Make him stop!"

"Shut up," growled the raven, yanking open the door and jerking her through it.

"This isn't fair!" Nagisa screamed, nails clawing their way into the door frame. Sasuke, hardly capable of even the slightest amount of patience, wrapped his arms around the woman's slender waist and ripped her away with more effort than he thought he would need. She was quite strong for her size,he admittingly gave her that much.

Naruto chuckled as Sasuke gave him a brisk glance before subdueing the woman completely and slamming the door to his office shut. 'What a mismatched pair. It's ironic,' the blond thought to himself, settling back into his chair. Despite the woman's obvious objection against the male Uchiha's self-made decision,Naruto knew that she would end up not win the losing fight. 'Sasuke has a charm of his own...' the Hokage smiled. 'It's a little something called ignorancy,'
