Yamoto(Tenzou)

Wow! Chapter four already, I really must like this story. I still don’t own Naruto… makes me kind of sad actually. The name Yamato will be used because I didn't feel like explaining the double identity thing.

To say that Ebisu was having an odd day would be an understatement. It had started off normally enough, but somewhere between eating breakfast and arriving at the training grounds where he was to meet his team that had all changed. He had been about to issue a greeting to his team, since it was only polite to say good morning, but he found that he couldn’t. Not because he was physically incapable of uttering the sentiments, but because he had been interrupted. People seemed to be doing that a lot lately- interrupting him that is.

“Oh, good morning…” Ebisu couldn’t quite place the man who had approached him, but he was positive that he had seen him before… somewhere.

The other man offered him a smile, “I see you were about to begin,” he commented. Ebisu inclined his head in an affirmative gesture, still uncertain as to why exactly the man was there. “Then you wouldn’t mind if I stayed?”

Logically Ebisu could think of no reason to object. After all, all his team was going to do was pull a few weeds (spar if they finished early) and then later, he would dismiss them. He could always do with a little more adult to adult interaction, and it wouldn’t hurt having another pair of eyes to watch over Konohamaru- honestly, that boy was one hell of an escape artist; he always managed to sneak away, even if you only turned your back on him for a fraction of a second. The boy was comparable to, if not worse than, Naruto. So, Ebisu adjusted his glasses, and looked to make sure the deceased third Hokage’s grandson was in fact still standing with his two teammates, preparing for the D-rank mission that lay ahead of them.

“No, I wouldn’t mind.” Ebisu said in that self assured manner of his that somehow always seemed to come off as perhaps a bit too arrogant, before turning to his Gennin team, and explaining what they were supposed to be doing that day.

As it turned out, Ebisu rather enjoyed the company of the other ninja. Yamato was good company, he decided. He rather enjoyed having someone to talk with in between reminding his team to only pull out the weeds, not the flowers, and blocking their few escape attempts.

Yamato found that he too was enjoying the company of the somewhat stiff Jounin instructor. He wasn’t as bad as everyone let on. A tad bit formal perhaps, but that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing; he had no doubts that Ebisu would be one hell of an asset in a diplomatic setting.

Yamato also found the way that the other man played with his glasses extremely enjoyable. He had noticed that when ever Ebisu was irritated he would push his glasses upward so that they sat more firmly on the bridge of his nose. He also noticed that when the other man was concentrating he would toy with the frames of the round tinted glasses, ghosting over them lightly with his fingertips. It was very… sensual, or at least Yamato thought so. But then, he had always been a sucker for glasses. Smiling he continued to watch as Ebisu ran his slender fingers over the edge of the frame, and along the arm in a smooth, fluid motion, that nearly elicited a moan from his throat. The Jounin instructor had no clue what it was that he was doing to the other nin, as he continued to finger his glasses.

It was nearly noon when Ebisu was satisfied that every weed had been pulled from the rather large garden. He offered his team a lopsided smile, which somehow everyone always mistook for a smirk- it, really wasn’t; his smile was simply crooked- and began to speak, “Alright, dismissed. Don’t forget to bathe when you get home, some of those plants you were handling can make you rather itchy.”

All three Gennin smiled brightly before running off, leaving Ebisu and Yamato. Ebisu was about to thank the other man for his company when he was interrupted yet again.

“It’s awfully close to when I usually eat lunch, would you care to join me?” Yamato’s question was met with a surprised stare, followed by an assenting nod.

It wasn’t a date, or at least Ebisu didn’t think it was a date. He didn’t really know the man sitting with him, and though he enjoyed his company, he didn’t truly believe that the other man would be interested in him in that way, so there was no possibility of this being a date. It was simply lunch between two shinobi who happened to serve the same village. Then again, Ebisu had never really been on too many dates in the past, meaning that he didn’t have much to compare it to.

It did seem vaguely like a date though, with the way Yamato watched him, and smiled, and brushed against him lightly every so often; not enough, mind, to be considered indecent, but too often to be simply accidental.

They talked for a while even after their meal was done, Ebisu still refusing to believe it was a date. It was quite likely that Yamato was simply an affectionate sort of person, much like Izumo or Kotetsu.

“We should do this again sometime; dinner possibly?” Yamato spoke as he paid their bill, waving off Ebisu’s offer to pay for his portion.

“Dinner?” asked Ebisu, his dark eyes looking at his companion over the rim of his tinted glasses.

“Hmm,” Yamato nodded, “We could get some drinks as well, or a movie if you prefer.”

Ebisu now felt utterly flustered. Yes, flustered was definitely the word for it. But he didn’t say no, he couldn’t, and not just because he couldn’t think of a nice way to decline the offer. He had found that he actually liked the man looking at him now, and since he had enjoyed lunch it would follow that he would enjoy dinner with Yamato as well. Logically speaking it made perfect sense, and it wasn’t as if he had a boyfriend, so he was technically available.

“I-” Ebisu started and then stopped. It was definitely an odd day. He had just been asked out on a date, after being taken on what he could only assume was a pseudo-date. “I think… I would like that.” After all, he couldn’t mope around forever about Ibiki’s lack of interest in him as anything other than a one off- he couldn’t even be considered a fling as it had only been that once.

Yamato offered him another smile, then leaned close, and dipped his head slightly so that he could engage the other man in a brief kiss, “Tonight then? I’ll pick you up at eight o’clock,” he said quietly after releasing Ebisu’s lips and heading off in the general direction of East.

For a moment, Ebisu sat perfectly still, in a sort of stupor. The quiet shock didn’t last too long, however, as Yamato’s leaving was soon followed by a loud squealing sound.

“That was so cute!” rang the collective cry of three of his stalkers, who continued to gush. Luckily he didn’t have to put up with it for too long as soon found himself being led back to his apartment by none other than Moegi.

“Uh, Moegi-chan,” Udon asked, sniffling a little as he did, “what are we doing?”

The young Kunoichi gave her teammate a look as if to ask if he was stupid before opening her mouth to answer; “We’re going to get Ebisu-sensei ready for his date!”

Yup; the day kept getting weirder.

When eight o’clock rolled around, Ebisu found himself once again wearing casual clothing, and being literally shoved out the door by his young female student. He was actually a little glad to be away from her. The constant chatter, and high pitched squeals, accompanied by disturbing giggles, was a little too much for him.

Dinner was interesting, to say the very least. It was as if somehow every Chuunin and Jounin he had ever worked with had found out where he was going to be that evening and had stopped by to say hello. Yamato was, needless to say, more than just a little peeved, though he did a good job of hiding it. The rest of the night wasn’t any better; it was all rather embarrassing actually and by the end all Ebisu wanted to do was to go home and curl up in his bed, while Yamato had every intention of having a conversation involving a variety of sharp pointy objects with several of his fellow nins’. At least he had gotten to see the Jounin-sensei fondle his glasses some more.

Ebisu, upon entering his apartment, had come to a conclusion; to put it simply, he was cursed. Hopefully by the time morning came, things would have gotten back to normal, and he would once more be the unpopular Jounin-sensei of a Gennin team, with few friends, and absolutely no stalkers.

Unfortunately, things never seemed to work out quite the way he wanted them to.

Meh- another chapter of complete crap! Sorry! But I just liked the idea of Yamato having a glasses fetish. Again I apologize for the suck of it all. I hated writing this chapter, because I just couldn’t get my mind around it…

Thanks for the reviews… I don’t deserve any for this chapter.

Eventually I will address the issue of Ibiki, I promise!
