~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Lee-kuuuunn!!!” A feminine voice drawled startled the green nin out of his thoughts of a certain Kazekage.
“Nani? Oh good evening Sakura-chan!” Lee turned in his seat to look at the pink haired girl as she bounced up to him. Ever since Sasuke had chosen to be with Naruto she had given up on him and fixated her attentions on Lee. The only problem was that Lee didn’t have anymore romantic feelings for her; he had grown out of them after being turned down so many times.
“What are you doing up here all by yourself?” She asked plopping down beside him then turning to face him with a big flirtatious smile.
“Well I heard there was going to be a beautiful full moon tonight so I didn’t want to miss it.” He may not like Sakura in a romantic way anymore but he still held her in a high status as a good friend and he would protect her, if needed die for her.
After the ‘incident’ with Gaara, Lee had gone back to Konoha to rest and think a bit on the roof of his house. The threatening clouds had scattered about the sky, now only a few cotton candy shaped ones lingered and as the sun set the grey clouds were reflected on in warm rosy and orange colors. Although the peaceful scenery would soon change, Lee had noticed earlier that more dark clouds were blowing in from the east soon it would snow again. The sky was a cold blue only the very lower parts of the heavens were faded slightly in deep rich violets and pinks. The snow also reflected the dream like colors making the very air take on the appearance like it were shaded the same tone as the sky and earth. And just rising directly in front of them was the moon, making the perfect finish to the picture perfect setting.
It truly was a romantic surrounding, perfect for lovers to gaze at from a balcony while sipping hot cocoa and wrapped snugly in a big fuzzy blanket big enough for two. The only problem was that the person who was there with him wasn’t the person he wanted to share this with…
“It shouldn’t be wasted alone…” She snuggled up to his right arm and leaned her head on his shoulder making Lee wince involuntarily.
“That’s why I’m here.”
Both heads turned in shock to gape at Gaara as he came walking from the behind them, sending snow powder puffs in the air as he glided forward menacingly.
“Kazekage-sama!!” Sakura jumped up and missed the satisfactory glint in the redhead’s eyes as she stepped away from his Lee. “What are you doing out here?” Sakura bowed deeply before straitening herself, cheeks flushed and a look of fear in her eyes like he would try to kill her at any given moment.
Gaara hadn’t really meant to be spying on Lee; he had been out walking when he had caught sight of a green jumpsuit and the black of his leather jacket Lee still wore from a roof top, so of coarse he went to check it out. And there well and behold sitting on a blanket at the edge of the snow covered roof, still wearing his jacket was his object of desire. He had his legs dangling off the side and was slightly leaning back, propped up by his elbows and whistling a sweet tune. Yes Gaara had been admiring the ‘scenery’ himself until the annoying pink haired nin had shown up and approached Lee so boldly.
Gaara fixated the girl with a pair of his best brooding eyes and locked his eye contact with her, mentally smirking when she visibly trembled. Gaara had no intention on answering her previous question, that wasn’t any of the girls business. So he would just stare her down till she left. That probably would have worked if Lee hadn’t interfered.
“Gaara-kun, Sakura was just admiring the moon with me I would appreciate it if you wouldn’t glare like that at my friends.” Lee stood beside her and as he said ‘friends’ he put a wrapped hand on her shoulder calming the girl slightly from Gaara’s enraged glare.
Gaara gritted his teeth as he saw Lee touch the girl hating every moment that his fingers were in contact with her body, even if it was just her shoulder. His teal eyes flared as Lee guided the girl to turn to face him gently.
“Sakura I think Gaara wants to talk with me so if you would please excuse us.” He smiled warmly and it was more then enough to reassure the girl from her fear of the menacing Kazekage, as long as Lee was near he wouldn’t harm her.
“Hai good night Lee-kun.” She then turned and bowed to Gaara missing the slight growl that came from his lips as she walked past Lee daring her silently to touch him again.
“What’s the matter with you?!” Lee had stood calmly and watched Sakura leave before turning on him. “You can’t treat my friends like that! Why did you act so rudely to Sakura-chan she was only being friendly!” Lee marched up to Gaara and stared up at him anger flashed dangerously in his onyx eyes as he looked up into the one’s of cold teal.
“She was coming on to you.” He replied simply he brushed past Lee’s shoulder as if the conversation had ended.
Lee hated that he hated being pushed aside.
“So what if she was? It’s not any of your business if she was!” Lee was just about to grab Gaara’s shoulder and spin him back around to face him but the redhead beat him to it.
Spinning around Gaara took a threading step toward him making his face extremely close to Lee’s, until their noses were almost touching. Lee wouldn’t be intimidated by him; he held his ground and kept his eye contact with Gaara his eyes just as challenging and fiery as the redheads.
“I don’t like it when people flirt with you.” With that Gaara pulled back and stood directly in front of Lee looking at him in a less threatening way. This caught Lee off guard…
“Huh? Wh…why?” He tried to meet Gaara’s eyes’ again but the redhead kept his eyes glued downward as if fining the snow very interesting at that moment.
Gaara didn’t reply but Lee saw him move his hand up to his forehead’s tattoo, he brushed his fingers over the symbol before looking back up at Lee with a hint of sadness in his eyes.
“Because.” He then stood there awkwardly waiting to see what Lee would do next.
Lee wasn’t stupid though at the moment he felt stupid and guilty… he had mouthed off to Gaara when the other nin had only reacted the way he did because he didn’t know how to interact with others very well. Lee was however extremely confused about why he had touched his tattoo symbol ‘love’ a moment ago when asked about his odd behavior and why he had looked at him so sadly. For some reason he felt that this situation’s oddness and the feeling that surrounded it was linked with the situation that had happened that afternoon with Gaara touching his cheek and shoulder so intimately.
“Ano Gaara-kun..? Would you like to sit with me and watch the full moon?” Lee decided to drop the previous conversation knowing he wasn’t going to get the answer his heart so craved so he would settle for thinking about it later. The feelings that were swirling around inside him at that moment were too much to fathom, so he pushed them to the back of his mind and sat back down on the blanket motioning for Gaara to follow.
To say the Kazekage surprise about Lee’s sudden change in behavior would be an understatement, so would the feeling of relief as he realized Lee had decided to drop it. He watched Lee intently as he plopped down on the thick blanket and patted the spot beside him looking forward at the moon as if the fight they just had never happened at all.
Gaara sat down next to Lee and looked at him curiously as the other sighed and closed his eyes when a cool gust of night air brushed past his face, making his black shiny hair rustle and billow dramatically in the wind. With his eyes still closed he leaned slightly into Gaara as more cold wind blew around them, a few ice crystals swirled up into the wind and glided on it’s current dancing and sparkling with the chilly air before settling back to earth again.
Lee was cold even though he was still wearing Gaara’s heavy jacket and he didn’t think the other would mind if he snuggled up to him a little bit for some warmth. After a few more gusts of cold wind Lee turned to the redhead.
“Ano Gaara-kun…it would be a lot warmer for the both of us if you were to...” Lee looked away blushing a little at what he was about to ask. “If you were to…hold on to me…” He finished.
Gaara was once again suprized but soon realized that Lee was right it was very cold out, looking to the side he noticed another blanket folded up on the far corner of the one they were sitting on. Pulling away from Lee, Gaara reached out for it.
When Lee felt Gaara pull away he had thought he had angered the sand nin with his forward request, but it was cold and all he wanted was-
Two firm arms wrapped tightly around his shoulders and pulled back until Lee was half laying half resting againced Gaara’s chest. Gaara’s hands pulled with them a huge wool blanket that he wrapped around both himself and Lee, the blanket was so long it came to a stop a little after Lee’s toes. Lee’s head came to a rest in the crook of Gaara’s neck as the sand nin’s arms pulled him toward his body. Gaara leaned back until his back came comfortably to a rest on Lee’s house’s roof wall and his chin on top of Lee’s head. He inhaled deeply as he took in Lee’s sweet sent of soap and a fragrant shampoo he had used on his silky hair.
Lee didn’t say anything but felt his blush intensify in such an intimate position with Gaara. He hadn’t really thought Gaara would comply…it was Gaara after all, the indifferent and stoic Kazekage who only recently seemingly hated his guts. But after awhile Lee relaxed and snuggled back into the sand nin’s embrace sighing at how comfortable the position was when he got use to it.
It started to snow but neither of the two noticed or stopped them from their watching of the night’s beauty. The only thing that changed was that if you were to look at the roof you would see a small dome of sand covering the two, sheltering them from the wind and snow leaving a small opening to continue the storm gazing as they continued to sit in each other’s embrace.
