I do not own Naruto, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
First Day
Sorry for the ever so long wait but here it is. I promise to try and get a more study flow of updates up for now on.
Sneakyfox- Thanks for the tip, I'll do my best to remember that.
Chapter 4: First Day
Naruto walked around the kitchen in a daze. It was only 5am, even Iruka wasn't up, but he couldn't sleep. Reaching for his smoke, he remembered that he was still in his pajamas', so he made the trek back to his room.
Stepping out onto the porch, wearing his blood red bottoms, he felt the chilly wind across his bare, toned, chest and back. Lifting a smoke he was glad that Iruka wasn't up. One look into his blue eyes and he was sure the older man would see the anger and sadness in them. He was a light sleeper, and was woken up by the sound of receiving a text message. Two guys in the group were informing him about Deirdra's death. His friend was shot two days ago, as a warning to him, and Deirdra finally passed in the middle of the night at the hospital. He knew that he should have slipped away to finish off his 'business' before he was dragged out of town by Iruka.
He was currently debating whether or not to hop onto his bike and go kill the guy. Forget the warning he last sent, because clearly, that hadn't worked. This time he would just kill the leader. His musings were interrupted by the sound of the front door opening. Realizing his smoke was done he pitched it away before lighting a new one.
"I was wondering why the lights were on. What are you doing up?" Iruka looked worriedly at Naruto.
"Couldn't sleep." He avoided looking at the older man.
"Ah, nervous about school?"
"Nope, not really."
"Oh." He could here the confusion in the older mans voice. "Then what is wrong?"
Naruto sighed, there was no point in putting it off. Jiyara could easily pass the news on to Iruka. Still avoiding the other mans gaze he spoke like he was talking about the weather." Deirdra passed away in the middle of the night."
There was a moment of silence before Iruka gasped. "That was your friend that was shot!" Naruto only nodded. "Oh, Naruto, I'm so sorry to hear that."
Naruto took one last puff of smoke before pitching it too. "oh well, he was lucky to have lasted as long as he did." He commented in a deadpan voice, as he went back inside the house.
Iruka stared at the door. He had seen the emotion in Naruto's eyes. "Oh please Naruto, don't do anything stupid." He whispered into the air.
-- -- -- --
Naruto spent the rest of the morning the same way he did the night before, cleaning and unpacking whatever needed to be. Yesterday when he and Iruka got home, he had decided to take his bike out for a ride around town. It gave him a chance to blow of some steam and see if anything had change since he was last here. The bike was his 16th birthday present from Jiyara, claiming he gave one to his father when he had turned 16 as well. It became something that he held dear to himself. It helped provide a small connection to his father, even if it wasn't the same bike, and was one of the few things that would really clear his head and give him a slight piece of mind. When driving around he noticed that, minus a few new buildings nothing had really changed, but he wasn't sure if he was happy or not about that small fact.
After Iruka had left to go to school Naruto had showered and dressed in the school uniform. At the moment he was still trying to work it into his own style since it was to plain otherwise. A loose long sleeve button up black shirt, white tie, and black slacks with only 3 pockets, and that was including the one on the shirt. That was something he was going to get use to, most of his pants tended to have at least 6 pockets.
He glared at himself in disgust before putting his contacts in. He smirked at himself as an idea hit him. He tucked the shirt in loosely, and undid the top two buttons. Rolling up the sleeves, he tied his bandana around his left upper arm, as usual, and took a look at himself in the mirror. The look he gave off was unapproachable as always. This look would be tolerable if he was stuck wearing the uniform.
Grabbing his bag and making sure everything was in it he headed for the door. He knew he was early, but at least he could take a look around for his classes so he knew where to go. He wasn't the type of person to ask other to show him around schools, and this would help him avoid having to talk to anyone. As he grabbed his keys and slid on his leather coat and shoes, his phone rang. Looking at the number he frowned.
"Kyuubi speaking."
"Did you get the message?"
"Yeah, but listen, I'm heading to school, need to go do the once over before it starts." There was silence as the caller seemed to think something over to himself.
"Call me when you get there, we need to talk." The caller left no room for argument, as they hung up. Naruto just flipped the phone close before sticking it back into his shirt pocket.
After locking up the house, he approached is red and silver bike. Throwing on the helmet he started the bike, after kicking it into gear he tore out of the drive and sped to school. He knew the phone call was serious if his friend was calling him, then things were getting worse then he had thought. He was pissed and it showed in his speed.
Pulling into the school parking lot, he ignored the few glances he got from the few guys that were already there. He pulled out a smoke for his short trip from his parking spot to the school entrance. He was going to need it till he could call his friend back.
-- -- -- --
Walking through the halls he glared at anyone who got into his way, or even thought to approach him as he waited for his friend to answer the phone. He hadn't fully realized the time till after he had found all his classes easily and went to make the call, so he was on his way back outside to have a smoke, since class wouldn't start for another half hour. Once outside he pulled out and lit a smoke just as his friend answered on the other end of the phone. "Sasori here." Was finally said after four rings.
"You called." He said as he blew smoke out. He glanced around noticing a few more people arriving as his friend explained the reason for calling.
"Well you got the text messages this morning, but I left out some things that were too important for a text."
"I'm listening." He stood causally against a tree looking up towards the sky.
"Word had it, He was looking for you. Doesn't buy the whole story that you just up and left due to your guardian. He's trying to find out where you are."
Naruto snorted, "Without my real name he'll have a fun time trying to find me."
"Apparently we were given two days to give your where-bouts or for you to show yourself." He could hear the worry in his friends’ voice, and knew there was more being left out, but decided not to push.
Naruto just chuckled at that. "Does the guy have a death wish?"
"Apparently, so what's the plan?"
Ah, well that answered Naruto's question, they did still think of him as their leader, Naruto smirked even though Sasori couldn't see it. "Plain and simple my friend. Tell them they can either back off or if they really want to die, then inform them that since I don't want my guardian hounding my ass, that I'll only be able to be there on Saturday, and I'll even show up with bells on."
"So you can really get away and take care of it then?"
"Hells yeah, this shit isn’t really worth the trip though. Just some punk who wants to be the bigger dog at the park. I'll even strangle him with my own hands so he knows who the better man is. I'm not letting another one of you guys get hurt or die on me, so make sure to watch each others back eh? Were family, I hate seeing you guys go." He said the last part with in a gentle tone filled with sincerity. They were the only ones that Naruto had let himself care about in any way.
"I know Kyuubi; we feel the same way, that's why we contacted you." And Naruto knew it was the truth. "Oh, speaking of the others, the two headed your way are expected to leave a little later today. Guess that school will be expecting two new students instead of just one this week eh?" His friend said laughing.
Naruto just raised an eyebrow, even though once again his friend couldn't see. "I didn't know he was coming to this school."
"Well after hearing where you were going, we talked him into going there. You’re one of the only few, who can keep that guy inline. Chances are he has almost if not the exact schedule as you."
"I wish the rest of you could move too. I know you can handle yourselves, but if another one dies I might just go back to protect your sorry asses." He jokes but knew that Sasori could tell he was half serious.
"Were tough, we'll be fine. I'll let you get back to school, and I'll inform the rest of the guys. I'll talk to you later love."
Naruto chuckled. "Love you lots Hun!" He said in a sickly sweet voice, and could hear his friend laughing before exchange one last good-bye and hanging up. Flicking away his smoke and putting away phone, he turned only to look straight into brown eyes. Naruto groaned, as the brown haired boy stared open mouth at him.
Kiba realized he was gapping and closed his mouth, trying to take in what he had over heard. Realizing the new guy, 'Kyuubi' he called himself, was starting to leave he blurted out, "You killed a guy?"
"Recently no, but I will." He winked.
"You've killed a guy before?" Kiba asked wide eyed.
"A guy no, a few guys, yes."
"How could they let you in here?" Kiba asked, beginning to get freaked out by the other guy.
Naruto tapped his chin in though, after a moment he gave a small shrug before replying, "Maybe they thought I would kill them if they didn't." He walked away from the other boy, one of his 'fox' grins in place, heading back into the school.
"I don't believe you. I think your lying." He said matter-of-factly.
Naruto just looked over his shoulder and raise a blond eyebrow at him. "About?"
"Every thing!" Kiba shouted. "You never killed anyone." He pointed an accusing finger at the red eye boy.
Naruto simply shrugged. "What ever, believe what you want." Entering the school he figured by lunch everyone would know, and could only hope for the day to get a little better.
