"What were you thinking when you left? Did you find it funny that I was tearing myself up inside? You're a real piece of work, Sasuke." He said, and frowned, looking to the side.
"You're blaming me?" He asked. "I thought you might have gotten over that stupid crap." Sasuke retorted, rolling his eyes as he sat up against the tree he was leaning against.
"Honestly, you always were a fool."
Naruto's eyes narrowed. He wasn't going to take that from him, not this time. The blonde haired male growled and turned away, crossing his arms over his chest, waiting for the raven to speak to him with a clearer tone of voice. The raven wanted to see how much the blonde's mind had improved.
The raven turned, and stared over at him. He had changed on the outside, but what of the inside? What had he learned while he was away? He was more curious than anything else to see what the brat had learned without him there.
"What did you find?" He asked, slowly stepping towards the blonde, and Naruto flinched when he felt Sasuke's hand on his back.
"Don't touch me. You lost that right." He said and looked to the side, pain evident in his eyes as he looked to the ground, forcing himself to look away from the raven haired male.
"I hadn't." He stated and Naruto looked up and glared at him. "What is that supposed to mean?" He asked, glaring up at him as he stared the raven in the eyes.
"It means you were supposed to learn something. What did you learn?" he asked, narrowing his obsidian hues at the blonde.
Naruto looked down, narrowing his eyes as he bit his lower lip.
"Life was hard. It took seven months. You were gone for that long before you finally showed up again. I didn't understand why you weren't there. I didn't understand why I wasn't able to approach others on my own. Without you there...it just seemed impossible..."
Why would he have done that? Why would he have made Naruto do that on his own just to feel left out? He meant well, he was sure, but for what reason.
"I love you."
"...What?"
"How can you say that after everything that happened? After everything you put me through?!"
"I wanted...you to figure it out. What life was all about. Understand?"
"No. I don't. Please, just...tell me what you mean. Your riddles, the mind games. I don't want them. Make them stop." He whimpered.
Sasuke sighed as he leaned forward, pressing his lips against Naruto's. His body tensed, and the blonde reached his hands around Sasuke's neck as they kissed. The raven slid his hands down Naruto's waist, pulling him close.
"So, that we could be together in the end."
That was why it wasn't meaningless to him.
