Chapter 4

 

Sasuke stood his ground as he watched Ariana come at him. There was no way that he was going to let his cousin kill him. He then charged after Ariana. He had his own kunai knife poised to kill.



Sasuke and Ariana met in the middle of the path. They blocked each other’s kunai knives. Sparks flew as they connected. That was when Sasuke got a good look at his cousin’s eyes and noticed that they were the Mangekyou Sharingan. He quickly back stepped away from Ariana. ‘It can’t be,’ he thought to himself.



“What’s wrong, cousin?” Ariana asked in an evil tone.



Sasuke just continued to back away from Ariana. It had been awhile since he had seen eyes like Ariana’s. He suddenly tripped over a rock and fell back on his butt. He then looked up at Ariana.



“Your eyes, Ariana,’ he replied to her. “How did you get the Mangekyou Sharingan?”



Ariana giggled evilly as she advanced on Sasuke. Once she had reached her cousin, Ariana towered over him.



“Wouldn’t you like to know,” she chuckled evilly as she brought her kunai knife above her head. Ariana was just about to bring her kunai down on Sasuke when she heard her name being called.



“Ariana, stop!!” a voice yelled from behind her.

Jenn had finally reached the hokage’s office. She busted through the door and fell to her knees breathing heavily. Once she had finally gotten her breathing under control, Jenn finally looked up at Kakashi, Nekona, Tsunade, and Eric.



“ERIC!!” Jenn yelled as she launched herself at her brother. Eric quickly caught his sister in his arms and hugged her. Jenn returned her brother’s hug and then pulled away from him as she remembered about Ariana and Sasuke.



“You have to stop her, Eric. She’s going to kill Sasuke,” Jenn said to her brother in worried tone.



Tsunade stepped up to both Jenn and Eric. She gently placed a hand on Jenn’s shoulder. Jenn turned her head slightly and looked at the fifth hokage.



“Who is going to kill Sasuke, Jenn?” Tsunade asked worriedly.



Jenn looked away from everyone including Eric. She knew that it would break her brother’s heart when he heard who was going to kill Sasuke.



“A-Ariana,” she whispered.



Eric released Jenn and backed away from everyone. He sighed heavily as he looked down at the floor of Tsunade’s office.



“How did Ariana look, Jenn?” Eric asked as he looked back up at his sister.



Kakashi watched the siblings before him. He, too, needed to know what had gotten into his niece. He leaned up against the wall behind him as he kept his eyes on Eric and Jenn.



Jenn looked up at her brother with tears shining in her own blue-grey eyes. She slowly walked up to Eric but stopped a couple of feet short of him.



“She had a blank look in her eyes. Not to mention, there was something odd about her Sharingan,” Jenn said as she looked up at Eric.



Eric and Kakashi’s heads shot up when they heard what Jenn had said. Both of them knew what Jenn was talking about.



“Mangekyou Sharingan,” both Eric and Kakashi said at the same time.



Nekona looked up at her teacher with a curious look in her eyes. She had heard something about the Mangekyou Sharingan before.



“Didn’t Ariana have to kill her best friend in order to get the Mangekyou?” she asked to break the tension that was building in the air.



Eric didn’t look up at Nekona or the others. He couldn’t understand how Ariana had acquired that level of the Sharingan. He had been with Ariana all the time since they had left the village a few years before.



“Yeah she had to. Ari and I have been together ever since we left the village a few years ago,” he said quietly.



Kakashi looked over at Eric as a certain thought crossed his mind. He quickly remembered what Eric had said earlier about his niece.



“What about when Ariana was with Yue and Itachi?” Kakashi asked in a calm tone.



Tsunade looked over at Kakashi as she, too, remembered what Eric had said moments earlier about Ariana.



“You mean when Ariana was with Itachi?” she asked the silver-haired man.



Kakashi slowly nodded his head. “That is exactly what I am talking about. What if Yue and Itachi made Ariana kill someone close to her while she was with them?” he said.



Eric looked up at both Kakashi and Tsunade. He had totally forgotten about Ariana being with Yue and Itachi. He fell into the nearest chair and put his head in his hands. He then looked up at everyone in the room as he suddenly got to his feet.



“I have to go stop Ariana before she does something she will later regret,” Eric said as he ran out of the room.



Tsunade and the others all looked at each other. They all knew that they had to go after Eric to prevent him from harming Ariana. Just then, Tsunade looked at Jenn with a soft smile.



“Where did you leave Sasuke and Ariana, Jenn?” the female hokage asked in a calm and caring tone.



Jenn looked up at the fifth hokage as she tried to smile. “I left them in the forest near the training grounds,” she said in a quiet tone.



Tsunade nodded her head as she looked over at Nekona and Kakashi. She didn’t want the young girls to get hurt if they couldn’t get Ariana under control.



“Nekona, I want you to stay here with Jenn while Kakashi and I follow after, Eric,” she said.



Both Jenn and Nekona looked at each other and then back at Tsunade. Both younger girls had angry looks on their faces.



“And why can’t Nekona and I go with you and Master Kakashi?” Jenn asked the fifth hokage angrily.



Tsunade turned and glared at Jenn. She knew that both Jenn and Nekona wanted to come with them. But Tsunade couldn’t risk Ariana killing the two girls.



“You two can’t come because I don’t want you and Nekona to get hurt or even killed if we aren’t able to get Ariana under control,” Tsunade said as she looked over at Kakashi. “Let’s go, Kakashi.”



Kakashi nodded his head as he followed Tsunade out the door and shut it behind him. He quickly caught up to Tsunade and fell into step next to her.



“How do you plan on stopping Ariana?” he asked as both him and Tsunade walked towards the forest.



“I don’t know yet,” Tsunade whispered. “I will have it figured out by the time we get there.”



Kakashi nodded his head as they both continued to walk.



**with Eric**



Eric ran as fast as he could towards the training grounds where he last knew where Ariana and Sasuke were at. He continued running until he came upon two people fighting. The closer Eric got to the scene, he soon realized that it was Ariana standing over Sasuke with a kunai knife in the air.



“Ariana, stop!!” he yelled at the top of his lungs when he got close enough to the cousins.



Ariana stopped just before she brought the kunai knife down on Sasuke. She then looked back at Eric and growled. She hated being disturbed when she had her mind set on doing something. She then looked back down at her cousin below her. She grinned evilly once more down at Sasuke.



“Time for you to die, Sasuke,” she said to the younger Uchiha beneath her as she brought the kunai knife down towards Sasuke’s heart.



Before Ariana could make contact with Sasuke’s chest, Eric dove at her and knocked Ariana off her cousin’s chest; the kunai knife stabbing into Sasuke’s left shoulder in the process. Eric landed hard on his back while he held Ariana tightly in his arms. He then stole a quick glance at Sasuke and saw the boy screaming in pain with the kunai knife stuck deep into his shoulder.



“Calm down, Ari,” Eric whispered in her ear just as he saw Kakashi and Tsunade come into view. He continued to struggle with Ariana as Kakashi and Tsunade came closer. “Sasuke’s hurt,” he called out to them both.



Kakashi and Tsunade both ran over to Sasuke. Tsunade fell to her knees beside Sasuke as she looked at his shoulder. Kakashi knelt down next to Tsunade as well. Tsunade looked up at Kakashi with tears in her eyes.



“How bad is it, Lady Tsunade?” Kakashi asked worriedly.



Tsunade looked from Kakashi back down at Sasuke, who was still in quite a bit of pain. She slowly shook her head.



“Ariana plunged the kunai really deep into Sasuke’s shoulder. Not only that, she sank the kunai knife into the curse mark on his shoulder,” she said to Kakashi as she looked over at Eric still holding a struggling Ariana.



Kakashi looked at Sasuke’s shoulder and saw what the hokage was talking about. He couldn’t believe what his niece was thinking when she did it.



“Now why would Ariana do that for?” he asked himself as he walked over to where Eric was laying on the ground still holding Ariana.



Ariana looked up at her uncle with blank red eyes. She immediately stopped fighting with Eric as she continued to stare up at Kakashi. Her eyes quickly returned to their normal ebony color as she fell limp in Eric’s arms.



“Uncle,” Ariana whispered as her world went dark.



Itachi and Yue watched what was happening below them as they stood in the trees. Itachi smiled to himself when he heard what Ariana had called Kakashi.



“So it is true,” he said more to himself than to Yue.



Yue looked at Itachi with a confused look in her eyes. She inched closer to Itachi so she could ask him what he meant.



“What’s true, Itachi?” she asked calmly.



Itachi turned his eyes on Yue.



“Ariana is related to Kakashi. I always suspected that she wasn’t a full-blooded Uchiha,” he said to his companion as he looked back down at the others.



Yue just continued to stare at Itachi. She couldn’t believe what he had just said. ‘So Ariana is related to Kakashi,’ she thought to herself as an evil idea flowed into her mind. She then gently placed a hand on Itachi’s shoulder.



“We can use that to our advantage, Itachi,” she said to him.



Itachi once again looked at Yue. He need to know what she had in mind.



“What are you planning, Yue?” he asked her.



Yue just continued to grin evilly at Itachi. She would tell him the moment she finished planning it all in her head.



“I’ll tell you in a bit, my dear,” she said to him. “I need to work everything out first.”



Itachi nodded his head as he stole one last look at Ariana and the others below them. He then turned his back on Yue and started hopping through the trees.



“Let’s go,” he called over his shoulder. “We need to get back and see what Kisame has to report.”



Yue nodded her head as she quickly followed after Itachi while she still worked out her plan to use Ariana against the others.
