There was snow on the ground, white undisturbed beyond the occasional person tromping through the thick white fluff, and the sky was heavy with new clouds, heavy and low. Neji was gazing outside, eyes wide as he watched from the apartment of his boyfriend, Naruto. He had started to date the blue eyed, blond haired man nearly a year ago and had spent the Christmas holiday holed up in his apartment, just enjoying the time together. Both of their families were away for the time being but were due back in a few days time, just in time for New Years.

 

“Thinkin’ hard?” Naruto asked as he strolled in with two cups of steaming chocolate coffee, Neji smiling as he took one of the cups carefully.

 

“Just a bit. Mostly just staring,” Neji admitted, shrugging as he sipped at his coffee. “Delightful,” he sighed as Naruto sat, long legs stretched out before him.

 

“Thank you,” Naruto teased as Neji left the window and sat down, legs drawing upwards once he was comfortable on the couch. “I take it you’ve been enjoying yourself.”

 

“Of course,” Neji hummed, smiling over his cup rim, light lavender eyes glowing in pleasure. ‘Away from my family, aloud to spend some much needed time with my boyfriend, away from our classes? I’m feeling more relaxed then I have in a long time.”

 

“Good, and you’re the one who wanted to take some of the newer medical classes,” Naruto drawled, Neji giving him a dry look. “I’m quite happy with my art degree.

 

“Now if you would stop messing with those glass pieces so often that you come home smelling like molten sand,” Neji teased, reaching out and picking up a delicate glass sculpture. It was of a small gray tornado that curled around a lily that looked as if it was blowing in the wind. Naruto had give it to him as a present when they had started dating and was still one of Nejis favorite pieces. Most of the ornaments on the tree had been created by his lover over the years, creating a beautiful tree laden with glass blow ornaments, a mix of glass and pottery and other forms of created art.

 

Neji loved every piece and the way they flowed together, and Naruto knew it.

 

“Complain, complain,” Naruto drawled, Neji smiling sweetly as he placed the glass piece down.

 

“Not really,” Neji chuckled, standing up to move to settle into Narutos lap, the mans arms coming around his waist to rest on his hips. “So, what are we going to do this year since it’s our first official one as a couple?” he asked.

 

“I figured that we’d stay around her and have a private dinner, just us,” Naruto mused, squeezing his arms around the lean waist. “Buy a bunch of food and hole up for the rest of the year. Since Jiraya and Tsunade took mom and dad on a cruise and your uncle is still being twitchy about us dating.”

 

“My uncle has never liked any of my boyfriends,” Neji snorted, smiling at his lover as the man removed the thin glasses that sat on his nose and put them aside. Light lavender eyes blinked as they locked with blue ones as they sparkled at each other.

 

“Yeah, well, he’s gonna have to deal with us being together,” Naruto hummed, playing with the rather unstated ring on Nejis finger. It was a thin band of white gold with one blue and one purple gem inlaid in it, the color as close to their eye colors.

 

“To true,” Neji hummed, blushing as he stared at the ring on his finger. Naruto had surprised him with it only two days previous, but Shino had only accepted that morning, having been stuck at his job as a forensic pathologist, having been stuck with a new body. “So, when will we tell everyone?” he asked, Naruto humming and pressing a kiss to his neck.

 

“Once my parents back from their cruise,” Naruto replied, nuzzling into his throat with a smile. Neji laughed lowly and stroked his hands over blond locks, just petting them lightly. “We’ll get everyone together and have a big dinner and before your uncle complains, we’ll make it clear that he’s not allowed to complain about it,” he drawled, seeing worry creep into Nejis eyes.

 

“And if he does?” Neji asked, tugging a bit on his fiancés hair, getting a low chuckle.

 

“He won’t be allowed to see his only nephew get married,” Naruto said, wiggling an eyebrow, causing the other to burst into bright laughter.

 

“Only you would be able to get away with saying that to my uncle,” Naruto snorted, brushing their lips together.

 

“Comes with being able to tell stuck up snobs to shove it,” Naruto drawled as they pressed their lips together firmly, licking at the full bottom lip of his lover.

 

“So full of yourself,” Neji teased, yelping when Naruto stood up, easily holding him in his arms.

 

“Oh, someone will be full of me,” he purred, Neji rolling his eyes.

 

“So cheesy,” he snorted, allowing Naruto to carry them to their room.
