One step forward, Two steps back
~Author’s Note~
Sorry for the long wait and short chpt. But, Chpt. 5 is already half way written. I’ll put some fluff in it too!

It’s weird, because it seems as though every time we take a step forward, closer to each other, It’s like taking two steps backwards. Sometimes it feels that as soon as she becomes mine someone else is there to grasp her away. I feel like I’m playing a game with her. Sakura why do you drive me to the brink of insanity?

Sakura and Naruto were now with Captain Yamato and Sai had revealed to them quite a bit of information of his actual mission. It was nice for them all to actually see an emotional side of the ANBU ROOT ninja. Letting him go after he agreed to help, the group continued to look for Sasuke.
The damn snake’s lair was filled with doors and mazes that only made Sakura and Naruto more determined to find their lost teammate. The shinobis stopped and decided to split off into two groups. Naruto and Sakura both looked at each other, a look that only them could interpret.
‘Naruto you better not get hurt! Please be safe.’
‘Sakura be careful, I don’t know what I’d do if I lost you.’
Splitting off, team Kakashi continued their search. A few minutes into the hunt a large blast was heard from a corridor. Yamato and Sakura rushed into the direction and caught up with Naruto.
Sai had already gone on ahead to the end of the tunnel that shed light from the outside world.
“Sakura are you ready?” Naruto said holding out a hand.
With firm eyes holding back graceful tears Sakura nodded and grasped onto his hand. Both ran to the end where they just knew Sasuke had to be.
It was rather surprising to see how much Sasuke had aged and matured. But, there was no doubt about it; he still had that look in his eye. The look that said he would let nothing stand in his way to kill his brother.
“Sasuke!” Sakura said tears of happiness starting to well up in her eyes.
‘We finally found him. I’m so happy.’
“Ah, Sakura. Naruto. Don’t tell me you two have still been wasting your lives over searching for something that is lost.”
Naruto now with furry in his eyes, “Don’t be so stupid Sasuke! We haven’t been wasting our lives. You’re nothing to waste our lives over. As long as you’re in our hearts you will never be lost.”
“Still the dumb ass I see. I guess I really should have killed you.”
At that moment Sasuke moved so quickly no one saw when he did so. His arm wrapped around his ex-teammate. The shock on Naruto’s face was evident. Sasuke’s low chuckle was just barely audible to the demon fox vessel. Naruto’s eyes glared.
“You just don’t get it. And you never will. Let’s see. How about I take away the person that means the most to you. Hmm?”
Another chuckle.
“Maybe then? Would you understand? Like I’ve said before bonds make a person weak. But, if you don’t believe me…”
Sasuke turned his head now staring straight into those blue eyes of the blonde.
“I wonder what you would do? So how about it?”
“Shut up! If you dare try to hurt any of my friends I will stop you! I was fully prepared when I took this mission on. Fully prepared to take you back to Konoha even if that means by force!”
“T-R-Y” Each letter enunciated clearly.
“Why YOU…” But, in a flash Sasuke was already gone. Backed away to the furthest wall.
His hand moved out and fingers motioned up for them to come at him with full force. Of course, Naruto was the first to charge and easily Sasuke spun his body around to miss the attack and gracefully pulling his sword out of it’s sheath, the weapon was being thrust towards the blond’s back.
Sai with his quick observations moved and blocked just in time. Another snicker.
“That would be the correct way to block my attack.”
Yet, the Uchiha still was in the lead. His quick arms grabbed both of the attacking ninjas and using an all body chidori, flung them backwards. Out of the shock came his soft menacing chuckle.
Now was Captain Yamato’s turn. With a quick maneuver the captain was running towards Sasuke. Too slow. The raven-haired boy was already attacking. Yamato braced himself. The sword of kusunagi was driven into his abdomen. Luckily with the DNA of the first it allowed the captain to keep the sword from doing maximum damage.
“Looks like the only one left to attack is…” he turned his head towards Sakura, “You. But, knowing from our training back in the day I really doubt there is much you can do. You always were the weakest one…and the most annoying.”
Fear gripped the kunoichi. He was right. No, she had changed. She had gotten stronger. She wasn’t the same and now was the chance to prove her worth. Sakura’s eyes flickered to Naruto. The blonde was on the ground absorbed with pain.
“Sasuke! As Naruto said, you will always be in our hearts but, I WILL NOT let you hurt anyone. If I have to I will put forth all I can to stop you and kill you. Although I'd much rather take you back as a prisoner. NOW…Watch me!”
With an unsure smile on her face she ran with all her force and stopped short before reaching him. Her fist slammed into the ground causing all sorts of debris to fly up. Of course, everyone had to jump to safety.
Through the cloud of dirt his voice was heard again. Snickering. He was behind her. His arm slithered around her waist and secured her loose hands in place at the kunoichi’s side. With the other loose arm, Sasuke reached for his sword.
“That really wasn’t bad. Rather amusing. But, you still are weak compared to me.”
Sakura was desperately trying to control the shock.
‘Calm down. THINK!
Quickly her strong arms were tying to push him off. Success. Sakura moved her leg to do a backwards kick. Too slow. Sasuke’s arm was already moving using his chidori, his sword already put away. Sakura screamed from the pain and fell backwards.
“SAKURA!” Naruto’s shrill voice rang out.
“So Naruto,” Laughter was in the Uchiha’s voice, “you really care about her don’t you?”
“Don’t you DARE! I wont let you hurt her.”
Sasuke’s face grew intensely grave. The thin slits of his eyes were drilling anger into the blue eyes he was staring at.
“Actually I think this is perfect. Now you’ll know what it’s like to lose someone important!”
The Uchiha swooped up the unconscious body of the kunoichi. Another chuclke and the two rivals eyes met once more before Sasuke disappeared into a smoke cloud. They were gone.
“SAKURA!”

At that moment I felt more scared than I ever had in my life. I stared helpless to help the woman I loved. I couldn’t do anything just like when Sasuke left. Now she was gone. Who knows where they went. Who knows what would happen to her. Sakura I’m so sorry I’ll find you and protect you.
One thing is now certain. If Sasuke lays even one hand on her, I’ll kill him.

-Actually i was picturing it all after the time skip but, it really doesnt matter. Which ever way you'd like to picture it...:) Don't worry i plan on finishing it.
