Chapter 5

 

**two weeks later**



Ariana awoke only to find herself in a room covered in nothing but white everywhere she looked. She tried to sit up only to find that her arms were strapped to the bed. She looked around to see if she could see anyone that she recognized. She sighed softly when she saw Eric asleep in a nearby chair.



“Eric,” she called out in a hoarse tone.



Eric slowly opened his eyes and looked towards the bed that Ariana was in. He smiled slightly as he got up from the chair that he was sitting in and walked over to her bed. He sat down on the edge of the bed. He gently reached out and pushed some of Ariana’s hair out of her eyes.



“How are you feeling, Ari?” he asked her.



Ariana smiled weakly up at Eric. “I’m feeling okay,” she said quietly and then looked away from Eric. She sighed slightly as she continued to look at the wall beside her bed. “I take it Uncle Kakashi thought it best to restrain me just in case I lost it again?” she asked Eric.



Eric sat down on the edge of the bed beside Ariana. He gently reached out towards her chin and made her look at him. He could see the tears that were getting ready to fall from her raven eyes. He then reached up and wiped away a stray tear as it fell from her left eye.



“It’s not that your uncle was afraid that you would lose it again, Ari,” he said to her. “Kakashi-sensei just thought that it would be in your best interest is all.”



Ariana slowly nodded her head as she looked away from Eric and up to the ceiling. She just hoped that her cousin was okay and that she didn’t hurt him to badly.



“How’s Sasuke?” she asked suddenly as she looked back at Eric.



Eric sighed as he looked down at the floor of her hospital room. He really didn’t know how Sasuke was doing since no one was allowed in his room. Eric then looked back at Ariana.



“I really don’t know how your cousin is doing,” he said. “Lady Tsunade won’t let anyone into his room right now. By the way, Ariana, why did you stick your kunai knife into Sasuke’s curse mark?”



Ariana just looked at Eric with a shocked expression. She didn’t know that her cousin had the same mark as she did. She also didn’t know that she had stabbed Sasuke in his curse mark.



“Sasuke has the same mark as I do?” she asked in a quiet tone. “Why did Orochimaru mark both Sasuke and me?”



Before Eric could answer Ariana, there was a knock on the door to her room. Eric got up and walked over to the door and opened it only to come face to face with Kakashi. Eric nodded his head at Ariana’s uncle and then stepped aside so that the older man could enter the room.



“Eric, can you please leave me and Ariana alone for a few minutes? I need to talk to my niece alone,” he said.



Eric nodded his head as he walked out of the room and shut the door behind him. He knew that Kakashi needed to talk to Ariana alone so he just waited outside the door until it was okay for him to go back in.



**inside Ariana’s hospital room**



Ariana didn’t look over at her uncle as he entered the room. She knew that he was going to want to know why she attacked Sasuke. She sighed heavily as she turned and looked at her uncle.



“Hello, Uncle Kakashi,” she said just above a whisper.



Kakashi walked over to his niece’s bed and sat down in the same spot as Erich. He could tell that she knew what he wanted to know. He smiled slightly at her as he began to speak.



“How are you feeling, Ariana?” he asked her in the same tone that he uses with all his genins.



Ariana couldn’t take her eyes off her uncle’s eyes. “Fine, I guess,” she whispered quietly and then more forcefully. “Why don’t you just come right out and ask me why I attacked Sasuke?”



Kakashi got to his feet and stared down at the girl laying in the bed. He crossed his arms over his chest and stood up straight. Ariana shrunk into the bed to try and hide from her uncle’s glare.



“So then why don’t you tell me why you attacked your cousin, Ariana?” he asked her.



Ariana sighed once more as she prepared to tell her uncle who was responsible for making her attack Sasuke. “It was Yue Mizrahi who caused me to attack Sasuke, Uncle Kakashi,” she said as the tears that she was trying to keep from falling fell from her ebony eyes. “Somehow Yue can control my mind without me knowing about it.”



Kakashi uncrossed his arms and then sat back down on the bed beside his niece. He reached out and wiped away the tears that were falling down Ariana’s face.



“So she is back and traveling with Itachi,” he whispered more to himself than to Ariana.



Ariana nodded her head as she looked over her left shoulder, revealing a mark of sorts on her right shoulder. Kakashi reached out and pushed Ariana’s head more to her left so that he could get a good look at the mark on her right shoulder. He quickly noticed that it was the same mark that Sasuke had. ‘Orochimaru,’ he thought to himself.



“Where did you get that curse mark on your right shoulder and on both of your wrists, Ariana?” he asked worriedly.



Ariana pulled away from Kakashi and looked up at him as more tears started to fall from her eyes. She could tell that he already knew but was wanting to hear it from her.



“Orochimaru,” she said just above a whisper. “He gave them to me right before he left the Akatsuki and went on his own.”



Kakashi just nodded his head. He then got up from the bed and started heading towards the door. He stopped just as he reached the door and looked back at Ariana. “Sasuke is doing just fine, Ariana,” he said as he turned back around and opened the door. He then walked out while shutting the door behind him. He then looked over at Eric and smiled slightly. “Come with me, Eric. There is something that I need you to do at the moment.”



Eric nodded his head as he followed after Ariana’s uncle. “So what do you need me to do, Kakashi-sensei?” he asked the man beside him.



Kakashi stopped walking and looked at Eric with a worried look on his face. “I need to know exactly when Ariana received her curse marks,” he said to Eric. “And you are the one who can get me those answers.”



Eric nodded his head once more. He knew what Kakashi was asking but he himself didn’t have the answers. “I will do my best in getting you those answers, Kakashi-sensei,” he said as he ran off from the hospital.



Kakashi watched as Eric ran from the hospital. Once Eric was gone from his sight, he headed towards Sasuke’s room. When he reached Sasuke’s room, Kakashi walked in and closed the door. He then walked over to the bed and stood next to Tsunade.



“How’s he doing?” he asked the fifth hokage.



Tsunade turned and looked at Kakashi with a sad look in her eyes. She had done everything she could for the young Uchiha boy.



“I’ve done everything I can for him. The rest is up to him,” she said quietly. “He is going to want to get back at Ariana for what she did to him though.”



Kakashi nodded his head since he knew what the hokage had said was true. “I have sent Eric to find out when Ariana had received her curse marks from Orochimaru,” he said as he looked at Tsunade. “By the way, Tsunade. Ariana also has a curse mark on her right shoulder. That makes three curse marks on her.”



Tsunade nodded her head at Kakashi. They had found out that Ariana had the two curse marks from Orochimaru on her wrists when they had brought her to the hospital two weeks prior. And now to hear that the poor girl has a third curse mark from Orochimaru was hard to believe. ‘What could Orochimaru be thinking with marking Ariana three times?’ she thought to herself. ‘Why is he after the power of the Uchiha clan so badly?’
