All Alone

Chapter Six

That night Naruto didn’t look forward to sleeping on the couch and sighed.
‘Maybe Sasuke will let me share the bed with him.’ He thought and an image of the raven haired teen laying on the bed with a flushed face came to mind. With a shake of his head the image cleared, but clinged to his brain.
‘On second thought the couch is perfect.’ Naruto thought and got ready for sleep.
In the bedroom Sasuke stood up and groaned at the tenderness of his wound. Heartburn raged up from his stomach to the back of his throat and it made him want to puke.
‘Maybe some milk will help.’ He thought and walked out to the kitchen. He tried to be quiet as he walked through the living room, seeing the blonde sleeping. Or trying to sleep.
‘What’s he up to?’ Naruto thought and slinked. He saw his teammate drinking a glass of milk and frowned.
“What’s wrong?” Naruto asked and Sasuke nearly choked.
“Goddamn it! Don’t do that when I’m drinking!” Sasuke yelled.
Naruto looked sheepishly with a arm behind his head.
“Sorry about that, I was just wondering what you were doing out here.” He said.
“Just having some milk.” Sasuke said wiping some off his chin.
“Yeah, but why?”
“Because I have heartburn that’s why.” Sasuke said. “I have too much acid in my stomach so I usually have to drink this or baking soda water to get it to go away for a while.”
“Oh. I had that a couple of times.” Naruto said.
“Everyone does. I just wish it wasn’t so bad I want to throw up.” Sasuke said and his eyes slanted. “Why the hell am I telling you all of this?”
Naruto laughed and gave the Uchiha a light pat on his shoulder.
“I’m just the type to talk to. Believe it.” He said
“Stop saying ‘Believe it’. It is stupid.” Sasuke said.
“I can’t help it. It’s just habit.” Naruto pouted.
“Anyways go to bed, I’m fine so just get some sleep.” Sasuke said.
“Aren’t you going to bed?”
Sasuke shook his head and Naruto sighed this time.
“I’m not tired.” Sasuke said.
“You should try anyways. At the hospital you slept all the time so you must not sleep much either.” Naruto said and Sasuke didn’t say anything. “Well come one and get moving.” Naruto grabbed him and Sasuke didn’t resist. Resisting would only mean the wound could reopen and he would be out of duty for longer than the 2 months that he’s ordered to do right now.
“Why don’t you just smother me in my sleep.” Sasuke asked and Naruto threw him on the bed.
“What!? I’m not going to do that!” Naruto yelled and the dark haired boy didn’t move. “Do you want to die or something?”
Sasuke remained quiet and Naruto frowned.
‘Is all this because of his accident?’ Naruto thought. ‘No. This seems old, like he’s been holding it in too long and now it’s starting to boil over.’
“Sasuke….” Naruto began.
“I’m not serious.” Sasuke said, but the blonde wasn’t convinced.
“I’m going to sleep here.” Naruto said and Sasuke went to complain. “I’m going to make sure you’re not going to do anything to harm yourself.”
Sasuke just moved under the covers and Naruto did the same after removing his orange jacket.
“Don’t do anything funny to me when I’m asleep.” Sasuke said and Naruto blushed.
“What the hell would I do to you?”
“I don’t know. Take pictures of me or strip me then take picture to use as blackmail or something.” Sasuke said and the blonde rolled over with a roll of his eyes.
“You need to work on your trust issues.” He said and they both went quiet to get some sleep.
