Mission Backfire
The others return at the end of the hour and Jade sets about preparing dinner while the others set about clearing the ground of debris so they can sleep relatively comfortably. Raven gives Hinata his cloak after showing her how to undo the inside flaps to turn it into a sleeping bag. After dinner Raven tells them to get some sleep as he takes first watch. Linking his mind to the shadows again he watches up to half a mile around the camp to ensure that the others could sleep soundly.
‘Did Tsunade-sama know those three were with the others? She couldn’t have or else she would have held off on the mission till Fei-sensei and a few of the other Jounin had returned. But those three are out of our league. I mean they’re Jounin level A-Rank criminals in the Bingo Book for Kami-sake.

They head out early the next morning and near late afternoon arrive less then a mile from their destination. “We’ll wait her till after dark to make our attack.” he tells them. “We can’t risk a fire so it’s berries and mushrooms only I’m afraid.”
After they eat Raven tells them about the tree Jounin with the bandits. “They’re all Mist-nin and A-Rank criminals,” he says. “If there was only one of them I’d say let me handle it and leave the others to you five but since that’s not the case and neither is walking away we need a strategy that won’t get any of us killed in the process.”
They spend almost an entire hour debating the situation before it’s decided that Sapphire and Jade will handle the twelve other bandits while Hinata’s team take on one of the Mist-nin leaving the other two for Raven to deal with. ‘So instead of the entire team being screwed I’m the one whose fucked.’

As night descends so do the missin-nin, with their plan shout to hell they scramble to try and fight back as best they can. Sapphire and Jade manage to lead their twelve away while Kiba and the others force their target to another part of the forest leaving Raven alone with his two. ’This was a bad idea.’
Raven hadn’t counted on the bandits attacking them so they had set up camp near a large stream that feed into a nearby lake. No sooner had the first Jounin attacked then the other performed his “Hidden Mist Jutsu” leaving Raven nearly blind to the four water clones each man created. ’Great, now there‘s ten of them and only one of me. Well let‘s even the odds a bit then shall we?
Raven back peddles quickly as he rapidly performs a series of seals, “Shadow Replication Jutsu.” In an instant ten more Ravens appear as they begin fighting back while the real Raven kneeled trying to figure a way out of his current situation. “I‘ve got no choice, it‘s either that or the memorial.”
He performs his longest series of seals he’s ever had to use in over a year as he calls out, “Darkness of Shadows Jutsu.” Slamming his palms down against the ground an inky blackness begins to ooze from his hands as it slowly makes its way across the ground before leaping into the air to completely encase Raven and the others around him in total darkness.
“How’s it feel to be helpless?” Raven’s disembodied voice asks from behind the men though Raven stood far to their left. Raven’s eyes are now completely black allowing him to see everything within the dome of midnight. His voice moves to the men’s right. “How does it feel to know that you’re about to die?” Raven’s arms transform into long “Shadow Blades” beginning at his elbows and extending two inches past the tips of his middle fingers.
The men never even feel the blades touch the sides of their necks before their heads roll off their shoulders. Releasing the Jutsus, Raven drops to his knees as exhaustion threatens to claim him. Suddenly the icy fist of fear closes around his heart. ‘Hinata.’

A/N: Sorry for the short chapter. The original version was so long I ended up breaking it down into three shorter chapters. Raven’s Darkness of Shadows Jutsu creates a dimensional pocket of pure darkness that allows him to use his other Shadow Jutsus without seals or saying them aloud. The Jutsu requires a tremendous amount of chakra to use and even more to maintain. His disembodied voice was actually his Talking Shadows Jutsu. It’s a type of Genjutsu that allows him to throw his voice to confuse his opponents. His pure black eyes was his Shadow Eyes Jutsu that allows him not only to see in absolute darkness but also allows him to see through the illusions created by Genjutsu.
