A/N: Written for the September ’09 five-sentence fest at the kakanaru comm. on lj, with the theme “Kakashi’s birthday.”
Summary: With this many candles, he’ll have to take off his mask… right?!
For Kakashi’s thirtieth birthday, Naruto and Sakura bring him a cake with candles, grins splitting their faces as they light them.
Naruto is practically bouncing in anticipation as they finish the song, looking forward to watching Kakashi blow out the candles.
When the warm glow filling the room suddenly turns to darkness, Naruto belatedly realizes that Kakashi’s sudden gasp and throw of a kunai was merely a distraction, and he can tell from Sakura’s groan of disappointment that she fell for it, as well.
Naruto’s disappointment turns to shock when he feels warm lips pressing to his in the darkness, and shock turns to elation as he drops his kunai and pulls Kakashi closer, thinking all the while that this will definitely earn him some kind of mask-less-Kakashi bragging rights.
When the room suddenly fills with light again, Naruto wonders in bewilderment why Sakura gets to see Kakashi’s face first, despite the fact that Naruto is the one currently doing his best to keep up with Kakashi’s skillful tongue.
