Running From a Broken Heart
Chapter 6
The first thing Naruto did upon arriving in Mexico was scroll through his contact list and copy down all the numbers he thought he would need, the second was turn off and get rid of his phone- he kept the sim card, of course.
He checked into a hotel before he sat down to decide what he needed to do. The first thing on that list was disappear, he needed time and space to figure things out and heal so his first goal was a kind of extended vacation.
Naruto frowned, his family and friends would never give him the time and space he needed so he would have to take it. He already knew he’d need to disappear and to accomplish that he’d need help. Money wasn’t an issue to the people he associated with so hiring someone to track him down when they discovered he wasn’t there in a couple days time wouldn’t be a problem.
Naruto called his uncle from the hotel phone.
He answered on the third ring, “Kyuubi here.”
Naruto clutched the phone tighter and swallowed hard, trying to sound casual, “Hey uncle, I need your help.”
“The line was silent for a moment before Kyuubi answered, “And how do I know you are who you say you are?”
The blonde answered, “The hag and the lecher send their regards.” His ‘uncle’ was in charge of the underground so his response was simply a security measure to insure that he was who he said he was and that he was safe.
“So what can I help you with?”
Naruto took a deep breath, word hadn’t really spread all that far that he and Sasuke had broken up so telling Kyuubi made it really final, “Sasuke and I aren’t together anymore.”
Kyuubi stayed silent, waiting for the blonde to continue and say what he needed so Naruto continued, “I left today, I couldn’t deal with being around him, being around *anybody* after it all. I just needed some space so I hopped on the first flight and ended up in Mexico. The only problem is I wasn’t really thinking when I did that and would like to continue my extended vacation so I need some fake ids so they won’t find me.”
“How do you know my reach extends that far?” Kyuubi asked.
Naruto snorted, “Your reach is everywhere, don’t give me that. You’ve got contacts in every major country.”
Kyuubi chuckled darkly, “Okay, but what if your guardians find out that I helped you? I don’t think that they’d be very happy.”
Naruto smirked even though he knew his uncle couldn’t see him, “They’d never have to find out.”

The next flight Naruto booked with his fake ID was to Canada; his uncle had sent a man that took care of everything after Naruto agreed to keep in touch and make a little stop to visit him before going back to everybody. All in all he was out of Mexico within 2 days.
When he arrived in Canada he made a call to one of the people he trusted most there: he called Zabuza.
He had met Zabuza when he was with Kyuubi, he had been hired to get rid of one of Kyuubi’s guys and attempted to do so by infiltrating his uncle’s group. Naruto had taken a liking to him so when he and Haku had gotten caught Kyuubi had let him go with a lot of pleading from Naruto after finding out his reasons. His heart was in the right place as he just needed money to help Haku. Zabuza had been living in Canada ever since.
The rugged man met him a couple of hours later at a bar. Naruto sat nursing a scotch on the rocks when a hand landed on his shoulder, he looked up to meet questioning brown eyes.
“Why are you here?”
The blonde shrugged before finishing the last of his drink, “Heartbreak. I’m here because I’m running from a broken heart.”
Zabuza looked mystified, “Why here though?”
Naruto lips twitched upward in an attempt to smile, “Why anywhere else?”

When he got to Zabuza and Haku’s house Naruto wrinkled his nose, “I have to buy new clothes, and take a shower.”
“Take a shower then,” Zabuza said, “I’ll leave you some of my clothes, we can wash these ones then go shopping tomorrow.”
Naruto stood under the shower-head, water as hot as he could bear it pounding down on him, and bowed his head. He had been trying not to think of their last fight, of the things said and just do what he needed to- get away from his family for a bit- but it wasn’t working. He sank to the floor, fist over his mouth to keep from screaming because he had a feeling if he started he wouldn’t be stopping for a while. He just felt completely overwhelmed and tired.
Only when Haku knocked on the bathroom door and asked if he was okay did Naruto get out of the shower, by then the water had long since gotten cold. He joined Zabuza and Haku in their kitchen to eat greasy pizza before going to bed in their guest room. He tossed and turned all night.
A/N: Another chapter update. This would have been posted yesterday at seven if my laptop had just co-operated.
