I like to watch him sleep

 A/N I know I know...it's been forever. Bad writer...bad writer. But I really didn't want to be distracted when I wrote this so I waited for the right frame of mind. *shrug* I know I'm weird.

Thank you for the really great reviews everyone. I really really like reading them. I'm glad people like this story even though it has like... no storyline lol.

Sasuke surreptitiously stared at Naruto over their morning campfire. Something was definitely different. His body moved with barely suppressed energy and he seemed like he was about to burst out with some good news. Now when the hell would he have gotten good news in the middle of the night?

Sasuke caught Naruto’s eye and Naruto gazed directly back at Sasuke with a clear challenge in his eyes. Sasuke stilled in surprise but before Sasuke had time to react, Naruto’s face suddenly split into a wide grin and with a wink he went back to preparing his breakfast.

A wink? Awink?!? Sasuke sat stunned. What. The. Hell. His mind felt totally blank.

His dobe was not behaving normally. Well, normal as in Naruto-normal. While it was true that Naruto had been looking at him a lot over the last few weeks, Sasuke was pretty damn sure that there had been no winking going on.

Sasuke continued to stare at Naruto, ignoring the conversation going on between Naruto and Sai about their duties for the day. Naruto’s body seemed to slow down slightly. Move more carefully and a small smile seemed to tip the corners of his mouth that had nothing to do with what he was talking about.

‘He knows’Sasuke thought to himself. He knows that I’m watching… and he likes it. Gone was the skittishness and slight embarrassment Naruto had shown before. Now he seemed to be acknowledging the attention… enjoying it… Sasuke felt a smile of his own coming on. Naruto was encouraging it.

Naruto sat down next to Sasuke with his cup of instant Ramen and began to eat. Sasuke watched him out of the corner of his eye waiting to see what his next move would be. He didn’t have long to wait. As Sasuke took a sip of his coffee, he felt Naruto’s leg barely brush against his own.

Sasuke turned to look at Naruto but did not move his leg away. This was getting interesting. That’s when he felt the subtle pressure of Naruto’s leg as it pressed against his own. Sasuke looked down to see Naruto’s legs spread wide as he rested his elbows on his knees. He felt his mouth go dry and his body begin to harden. Sasuke almost choked on the large gulp he unthinkingly took.

There it was again… Sasuke could see that slight smile on Naruto’s face as he continued to slurp his Ramen. Since when did the dobe ever eat that slow?

And was he… licking his chopsticks?! Naruto’s tongue went in a half circle around his chopsticks as he chased a stray noodle. As Naruto slurped up another bite he made a humming noise deep in his throat showing his obvious enjoyment. The noise went straight to Sasuke’s groin as he thought of other ways to make Naruto make that noise. With a slightly dazed look on his face, Sasuke continued to watch Naruto eat.

As he finished his Ramen, Naruto put his finger in the leftover broth and strongly sucked it off his finger, making a loud popping sound as his finger came out of his mouth. Sasuke thought his eyes would cross.

Sasuke opened his mouth, panting slightly because he suddenly felt in need of more air. Naruto’s smile widened.

Across the campfire, Sai looked curiously at the pair who seemed to be having a whole conversation without any words. After all his progress on trying to figure people out… he was back to square one.
