Chapter 7

Fuck!!!! This fucking hurts. “AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!” I let out another scream of agony as I felt a piercing stab of pain on my abdomen. Why the hell is it so painful? It’s not like I have a cervix that’s opening up or something! Maybe, it’s tearing up my stomach? Just where the hell is Kyuubi keeping my baby anyway? “AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!” I released another howl as I felt a strong pull on my back.

“Naruto!” I heard Sasuke scream as he burst inside the bedroom door. It’s about time the bastard showed up.

**************************

I ignored the cold sweat dripping from my forehead as I rushed to Naruto’s side. He really looked like he was in severe pain. I grabbed his hand and squeezed it firmly as I mumbled hushed calming words in his ear.

“Holy fuck Sasuke, it feels like the baby’s trying to tear out of me,” Naruto managed to say after a series of grunts and controlled screams.

I controlled myself from crushing Naruto to my chest. I doubt if that will make him feel any better at the moment, but I just can’t bear to look at his pained face like this. I feel so helpless.

“We should take him to Tsunade-sama at once Uchiha-san,” I spared a glance at the forgotten occupant of the room. That’s right. Shizune-san was here. Without any sign of resistance, I carefully scooped Naruto onto my arms and told Shizune-san that we are ready to go.

‘Please let Naruto be alright,’ I wished to the stars as I ran on the rooftops as fast as my legs could carry us.

Sakura was called by Tsunade-sama earlier tonight to help with Naruto’s condition. Hearing that Naruto was rushed for medical assistance, Sakura quickly called Ino, and in turn Ino called her teammates, and well, you get the picture. I glanced at the line of jounin sitting quietly at the waiting room. It’s been at least an hour since I brought Naruto here, and still no one has come out of the operating room.

“Naruto should have picked a better time to go into labor. We just got back from a mission an hour ago. I haven’t slept in days,” I heard Shikamaru mumble to Chouji as he glanced at the wall clock to our left.

11:03 in the evening.

Chouji grabbed a bag of chips from his backpack and popped it open before he replied, “You don’t need to be here if you don’t want to Shikamaru, but then again we already know that, so here, want some?”

The lazy jounin just huffed at the happily munching boy before closing his eyes and trying to catch a nap.

“Don’t you think it has gotten a lot quieter in there?” I heard Neji ask his cousin.

“H-hai. It has, huh? Perhaps Tsunade-sama did a jutsu to block the noise?” Hinata proposed curiously as she glanced at the double doors beside her.

“That must be it! I swear I could hear Naruto’s screams 2 blocks from the Hokage Tower on my way here earlier,” Kiba recalled before bursting into a series of snickers. “I could just imagine what Naruto must be planning to do to you after this Uchiha,” the dog-boy inserted in the middle of his chuckles.

I simply released a “Hn” before returning my head to a slight bow.

“Just shut up Kiba! Sasuke-kun’s worried enough!” Ino reprimanded the said boy with a loud smack on the head for emphasis.

“Aw! Ino! Did you have to hit so hard? Dammit!” Kiba replied as he nursed the sore spot on his head.

“There’s no need to worry Sasuke-kun! Sakura-san is there with Naruto so everything should be just fine!” Lee tried to comfort me as he placed a cautious hand on my shoulder and offered me a shiny smile. Argh. It’s suddenly too sparkly in here for comfort.

The double doors that separated us from Naruto suddenly opened and revealed a pink-haired fatigue stricken medic nin.

“Sasuke-kun, everyone,” Sakura tiredly started as she leaned on one of the open doors. I swiftly walked towards her and waited for her to continue, “Naru---”

“Sasuke! Shit! You bastard! Why did you have to get me pregnant you arrogant asshole???! This fucking hurts! Why can’t you be the one giving birth?!! Aaaaaaaahhh!!! Bastard, you’re going to get it once I get out of this hospital! Ahhh!!!”

What the? I stared over Sakura’s shoulder to see Naruto throwing whatever he can get his hands on. Suddenly, Kiba’s joke turned out to be more of a very accurate prediction.

“Shut the hell up you brat! And if you throw a pillow at me one more time, I’ll freaking shave your head off!” I heard the hokage scream back at Naruto.

Sakura quickly shut the door behind her, and offered all of us an awkward grin. She sheepishly scratched her cheek before explaining, “You see, Naruto-kun’s being a little difficult at the moment.”

Uhh..yeah, no kidding.

“MWAHAHAHAHAH!!! I was right Uchiha! You are so dead!” Kiba tauntingly exclaimed as he began clutching his stomach and laughing uncontrollably. I turned to glare at him and was ready to kick his ass to hell, when I noticed that Ino already did that for me.

“Just shut up for a second will you?” She glared at the whining boy. “And Hinata-chan, you don’t have to worry about him, I’m sure he’s just overacting.” Ino added with a slight kick on Kiba’s side.

“Argh. Troublesome.”

“Sakura, how’s Naruto?” I turned my attention back to Sakura as I rubbed my temple in frustration. Haa. This entire ruckus is making my already aching head ache even worse.

“He’s doing fine so far. He’s barely begun labor. Tsunade-sama thinks he won’t be ready to give birth until tomorrow afternoon or so.”

Ah. Labor, huh? Nothing to worry about, since it is natural after all. I was about to breath a sigh of relief when I choked the same sigh. Wait a minute? Labor she says??? But Naruto’s barely 7 months old!!!!!!!!

“What are you talking about Sakura? Naruto’s just a little over 6 months?” I exclaimed in outrage at her. There’s no way he can give birth now, the baby won’t survive!

I saw her wince at my loud voice, but I remained unapologetic and waited with clenched fists on my sides. Don’t tell me we’re losing the baby.

“The baby seems to be fine Sasuke-kun. Tsunade-sama thinks the Kyuubi has caused the fetus’ development to accelerate.”

“How’s Naruto supposed to give birth anyway? Is the hokage going to operate on him?” Neji spoke behind me.

“Or did he manage to form a temporary cervix and vagina for the baby to crawl out from?” Kiba, who was still crouched on the floor, added dumbly.

“Kibaaaaaa!!!!!!!!” All the girls screamed, outraged at the vulgar question. I would have felt a little bad for him seeing the multiple blows he was receiving from the girls if I had not remembered the little “joke” he told me earlier. Hn. Serves him right.

The little commotion in the waiting area was brought to a temporary halt as Shizune-san’s head peeked out of the operating room. A series of screams and yells from the other room could be heard through the small opening. “We need you here Sakura-san. Now!” She asked desperately as she ducked in time against another flying plastic cup.

“That’s it you brat! Say goodbye to your blond locks!”

We all heard Tsunade-sama yell before we heard an electric razor being turned on. “Kyuubi’s chakra is the one causing stuff to fly out!!! It’s not me I swear!!! NOOOOOOOO!!!”

We heard Naruto whine in protest before Sakura shut the door behind her.

“Sakura-san said Naruto-kun’s just starting labor, right?” Lee asked as he slumped on one of the couches across from me.

“Yeah, it’s going to be a long night,” Neji muttered before leaning his head against the wall to catch a few blinks.

Lucky bastard. I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep tonight.

“Wake up sunshine,” I rolled my head to the other side as I mumbled, “five more minutes” to my greeter. Is it Naruto?

“You should grab something to eat downstairs,” the unknown voice continued. Nope. Not Naruto. The voice is deeper and it actually sounds like, naaah…can’t be. I lazily shielded my eyes from the bright light by placing an arm over my face.

“Oi,” the annoying morning greeter poked my cheek. Annoyed, at the violation of my personal space, I grumpily removed my arm from my head and peeled my eyes open. I squinted at the rush of light and was ready to start a range of curses at the insistent stranger when my eyes widened in shock.

“Gaara?!??!!?!” What the hell is he doing here?

“Good morning sunshine,” he greeted in a deadpan voice.

I felt chills run up and down my spine at the nickname he gave me. I scrambled a good six feet from him before I spoke, or rather yelled in surprise.

“What the hell are you doing here? More so, why the hell are you the one waking me up?” Sunshine!!!?!??! I am scarred for life.

“All your friends are downstairs having breakfast. They said you just fell asleep so they left you here to rest,” Gaara answered me seriously, his arms crossed boldly across his chest.

“That doesn’t answer why you’re standing right there,” I said with as much composure as I can as I picked myself up from the ground. Some kind of friends they are. Leaving me alone with him!!

He gave me a shrug before replying, “I heard news that Naruto’s scheduled to give birth today.”

I eyed him suspiciously before asking him, “You’re not planning anything are you? We are over this, right? Naruto chose me.”

“Hn. I still think it was a dumb move on his part, but yes, that is history. I’m simply here as a friend.”

“Good,” I stated simply as I glanced at the operating room. They’re still there? Well, it’s only ten in the morning. Sakura did say something about the birth being this afternoon.

“So, have you thought of names for the baby?” The sand-nin asked me as he leaned against the wall adjacent to where I was.

Gaara and I having a small talk as Naruto’s in labor. Odd. Never in a million years would this scenario have crossed my mind.

“Nope. It never came up.”

A few minutes of silence passed before it was broken once again. Really, what’s up with Gaara today?

“I think you should name him Gaara.” I heard him say in a definite without nonsense tone.

“No.” I said with finality. You shittin’ me?

“You better take care of both of them Uchiha.”

I stared at him for a while before answering with conviction. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

“I’m serious. I’m taking both Naruto and his kid the moment he tells you to get the hell away from him. I’m also going to tear you limb by limb for any pain you’ve caused him.”

“That won’t happen no matter how long you wait. Although, I appreciate the concern regardless of how morbid you said it.”

“You’re one lucky bastard you know that. Even luckier now that you can actually start a family with him.”

“I know.”

A long moment of welcome silence engulfed us once more before it was broken by a group of people coming from the cafeteria.

“Hospital food sucks!”

“It wasn’t so bad Kiba. I personally thought they had quiet a large amount cereal varieties.”

“Yes. They did! Did you try their oatmeal as well Chouji-san? It could feel it literally making me healthier with every spoonful I took!”

“Lee…it’s too early to be hyper. Neji, tell him to tone down a bit. It’s so troublesome.”

“Why should I?”

I released a sigh both of exasperation and relief. I’m glad that I’m not alone with Gaara anymore, but their antics are making me feel really tired.

“How much longer are we going to wait?” Tenten asked no one in particular.

I glanced at the clock for the nth time that day and read 3:14 pm.

“It should be anytime now.” Lee answered.

That anytime failed to arrive in the next hour or the hour after that. I looked around and saw half of our friends were already sprawled out on the benches catching naps. I felt my back aching in tension and tried to rub my shoulder lightly for some relief.

The door suddenly busted open and I have never been happier to see Tsunade-sama in my life.

“Tsunade-sama,” I said hastily as I stood up from my seat.

She gave me a small hand gesture, telling me to follow her inside the operating room. I complied with unhidden agitation.

“It was a long process but thankfully it’s all over,” she started as she stopped by Naruto’s bedside.

I stood on the other side of the bed, and gently stroke my blond’s sweat-covered locks away from his forehead. Good. He didn’t lose his hair. “And Naruto? The baby---”

“Are both fine. Naruto used almost all his chakra and probably would not have his strength back till the day after tomorrow. The baby on the other hand is healthy with no problems.”

I released a sigh of relief, feeling all my anxiousness and tension leave my body magically.

“It’s a boy, Sasuke-kun,” the hokage told me before calling Sakura to bring over our son.

A rare smile spread through my face as I held my son in my arms, Naruto and mine’s.

“He’s so cute Sasuke-kun! He’s like a mini version of yourself!” Sakura exclaimed unable to control what I think is something she wanted to say for a long time.

I felt Naruto stir beside me. I cautiously sat beside him on the bed. “He’s perfect.” I murmured as I nuzzled the baby closer.

“Sasuke?” I heard Naruto whisper hoarsely through heavy-lidded eyes. “Is the baby OK?”

“Of course. Here, let me help you hold him.” I assisted Naruto as he slowly reached for the new member of our family.

“Do you have a name yet?” Sakura asked us with a bright smile on her face.

I glanced at Naruto, unsure if he has an answer yet.

“Ryuunosuke. He’ll be known as Uzumaki-Uchiha Ryuunosuke.”

Ryuunosuke? I wonder where he got that name from. But that question will have to be saved for another time since there are more pressing matters at the moment.

“It should be Uchiha-Uzumaki, dobe. Uchiha should definitely go before Uzumaki.”

“Teme!! What the hell are you talking about? Of course Uzumaki’s going to go first!”

“Hn. Wanna bet?” I said with a challenging smirk.

“You’re on bastard!” Naruto accepted with a fist up in the air.

“Naruto!!!!” Both Sakura and Tsunade yelled as he tried to balance the baby in one weak arm.

“Fine. We’ll settle this for another time bastard,” he murmured with a frown as he clutched our son closer to his chest.

“You can have all the time you want Naruto.” I chuckled at his scowl, before placing a soft kiss on his forehead.
