So sorry for the late update, I’ll try to do better from now on! As for the betaing of this story my lovely Sister in arms, Lili-sama, has started to work on it and I’ll edit it as we go, but I’ll keep updating it in the un-betad chapters for now.

However, a billion thanks to Hestia and Lindystar for the offer of help!!!
Also, Pam, I hope you’ll like this chapter, though I have to say that Neji is darn hard to write…

Thanks to everyone that has reviewed!!!!!!!!

Warnings are the same that usual, only add Lemon this time =) N I still don’t own Naruto or make any money from this.

R&R?

Neji smiled to himself and shook his head as he closed the bathroom door behind himself. Genma might be a great singer, he’d never argue with that, but the man should really try to learn English before trying to sing in the language.

As he rinsed the conditioner out of his hair he sighed softly as he realised exactly how lucky he was to have someone like Genma, someone that just read him so easily… That always seemed to know what he needed before even he did…

He dried of, got dressed and wrapped a towel over his shoulder to prevent his cloths from getting wet. At home he’d just ignore putting on a t-shirt before his hair had dried, but they had learnt early on that that was just too hard on Genma… Something that Neji actually hadn’t understood until Genma had pointed it out… He looked at himself in the mirror and blushed faintly at the memory. He had always been told he was beautiful, and he could even see it himself. But to see himself as sexy… He still couldn’t.

He shook his head and walked out of the bathroom and went to lean against the doorframe to the kitchen. He watched Genma cooking and raised an eyebrow.

“Pancakes?” He asked.

“Yep. You like pancakes.” Genma mock pouted and flipped another pancake.

“Yes, I do… But for dinner?”

“Your point is?”

Neji laughed and shook his head and walked over to jump up and sit on the counter next to the stow. Life around Genma never seemed to be boring, not even eating… Even though Neji had a strong feeling that being as obsessed with western food as the senbon chewing Jounin was, was not healthy.

“Tell me Genma, is being eccentric a request for becoming a Jounin?”

Genma visibly tensed for a second but then shrugged. “I’ve heard that there are countries in the North West that actually eat pancakes for dinner.” He said and smiled at Neji briefly before turning back to the food.

Neji frowned and grabbed Genma’s wrist.
“Genma, that was the last pancake… What’s wrong?”
Genma sighed and closed his eyes. “Being eccentric isn’t a request… But it helps you stay alive. Iruka could never make it as a Jounin, and thank God that he realises that himself… You have to have something that reminds you that you’re a live… That you’re human.” Genma turned his head and met Neji’s cloud white eyes straight on. “Until you… What made me human was making sure that I knew as many Western foods as possible.”

Neji frowned slightly and took a deep breath. “What about the others? The ones before me…?” He asked silently but to his surprise Genma just shook his head and twisted his hand in Neji grip, weaving their fingers toghter.

“That was just fun Neji-kun. If I would have been forced to choose between my cooking and them, the food would have won every time. But with you… Heck, I hadn’t made traditional food in years before you started coming by.”

Neji shook his head and jumped of the counter again to grab the plate with the pancakes and led Genma to the table.

“Well, aren’t you lucky that I’ve started liking your crazy food?” He asked as he grabbed a pancake with his fingers, making Genma laugh.

Genma looked at the youth lying beside him on the couch, the long hair was still damp and there was a deep frown on Neji’s features as he read through the scroll in his hands. Genma ran his fingers absentmindedly through the damp strands and occasionally brushed over the uncovered green seal. He loathed the mark and at the same time he loved it above everything. He loved it because it had brought him Neji. Brought him a deadly ninja that at the same time was the most innocent Genin Genma had ever come across.

Neji growled and tossed the scroll on the floor, making Genma chuckle again.

“I can assure you that there’s absolutely nothing funny with being forced to read a scroll on the so called “importance” of the use of spandex to a Ninja.” Neji glared at him and wriggled his eyes brows as Genma once again ran his fingers over the seal.

“Ahh, well, I wouldn’t say that… Gai seems to do pretty fine…”

“That’s said by a man who said that being eccentric helps when you’re a Jounin.”

Genma ran his fingers through Neji’s hair and smiled softly as the white eyes closed. “Actually, I was more amused by the fact that you tossed the scroll on the floor. Five months ago you would have had my head if I had done that. And now you’re doing it yourself, you even ate with your fingers today.”

Neji sat up and shrugged as he looked out of the window and Genma noticed that his entire body had tensed.

“I don’t have to be any one else then the one I am with you… Genma…” Neji turned and looked straight into Genma’s eyes. “Please don’t interrupt me now… When we were in that forest I realised that the worst thing that can happen isn’t that I fail… It’s that I die and-“

“Shut up! Don’t talk like that Neji!” Genma hissed as he grabbed his young love by the arms.

“Let me finish Genma!” Neji glared at Genma and breathed hard. “It is reality Genma, I might die, just as you might die every time you go on a mission. You KNOW this, I know this, and we have only refused to see the truth for what it is… And I… I don’t want to die without ever being with you…” Neji whispered the last sentence and Genma’s eyes widen as his hands fell from Neji’s arms.

“You want us… to… You want to break the law…” He breathed finally.

Neji swallowed hard and nodded. “Give me tonight Genma, just one time and I won’t ask you until I’m legal… Genma… Please…” Neji shifted his hands and weaved their fingers toghter.
Genma looked down at their joint hands and tried to remember to breath. He was a prankster, he had done a lot of crazy things in his life but he had NEVER broken any law… But were the laws really worth more to him then Neji? He already knew the answer and smiled faintly as he pulled the boy on to his lap.

“I can’t deny you what you seem to want so badly Neji… But only tonight, and you have to promise me that if you want to stop at any point, you’ll tell me.” He whispered and Neji nodded with a relieved smile before he crushed his lips to Genma’s.

Genma’s hands slowly wandered under Neji’s t-shirt and both of them shivered at the contact as the trembling hands travelled up along Neji’s spine. Never before had they allowed them self to touch this way, to have real skin on skin contact. Genma’s eyes slipped shut as the kiss deepened, Neji’s hands fisted in his hair and the youth’s back arched gracefully. So smooth… Everything about Neji was smooth… His hair, his skin… His touch as the inexperienced hands travelled down from his hair, along his jaw line, his neck… Down his chest and ever so slowly under the lining of his shirt. Genma broke the kiss and his head fell back against the couch as he tried to regain his breathing.

“I think… I think we might want to move this to the bedroom…” He panted as he finally looked at Neji again. The mere thought of what they were about to do made his pants become way too tight and he felt that Neji was having the same problem.
Neji swallowed hard and nodded, his cheek was flushed and his entire back was tingling from where Genma had touched him. He stood up on shaky legs and reached out his hand to Genma who took it and stood to with a smooth grace. His movements never letting Neji forgetting that even though right here and now Genma was his lover, on normal days the man was an assassin.

They tumbled down on the bed, lips locked to each other and hands finally, finally exploring everything they could reach. Their breathing swallowed as clothes was removed with feverishly haste, needing to be closer, to be one.

Genma was straddling Neji’s thighs, his hands planted on the pillow on either side of the youth’s head, panting hard. Wide eyes roaming over the pale and now naked flesh beneath him.

“I… By all the gods Neji… So…” He breathed.

Neji’s tongue darted out to wet his kiss bruised lips and he stared up at his older lover. He reached up and curled his fingers around Genma’s neck and brought him down into a chaste kiss. One of his hands continued to travel down over Genma’s chest, gracing his nails lightly over Genma’s hard nipples. Genma arched into the touch with a moan as their straining members grind against each other. He slid down along Neji’s body kissing his way down the pale skin, lapping over the taunt nipples and sliding along the pelvic bone. He stopped as he had moved to lay between Neji’s legs and glanced up at the younger with a faint smirk.

“If we only have tonight I better make sure that it’ll be enough to make you happy.” He whispered before he sucked Neji’s cock into his mouth.
Neji let out a strangled gasp as one of his hands fisted the sheets next to him and the other in Genma’s hair. His eyes fluttered close against his will, he so badly wanted to watch this but the pleasure was just too much to handle. The tight, wet heat that surrounded his member seemed to spread through his entire body. He fought hard to remain still and not thrust up, so hard that at first he didn’t notice the slick finger that circled his entrance. He didn’t understand when or how Genma had gotten the time to get the lube, but he didn’t care as the finger slipped inside of him, making him squirm slightly.

Genma moved up along Neji’s body again as he moved his finger in and out of that velvet heat, finally sealing his lips over Neji’s. As they broke apart he stilled and moved some strands of hair from his love’s face.

“You ok with this Neji? I’m not hurting you?” He asked silently and to his surprise Neji blushed slightly. “Neji?”

“I’m fine. I’ve… I’ve touched myself before… pretending it was you…” Neji whispered back and looked away. Genma squeezed his eyes closed and breathed heavily for short while, the mere thought of Neji doing that was almost enough to make him cum. He finally forced his eyes open again and cupped Neji’s cheek to make him look at him again.

“That has to be the most erotic thing I’ve ever heard Neji… I’ll try to live up to your fantasies…” He breathed before kissing Neji with wild passion, at the same time entering another finger and slowly but surely stretching his young lover.

Neji’s legs were spread wide, his feet against the sheet, inviting, wanting as Genma finally, slowly inched inside. The two of them stayed like that for what seemed forever. Just kissing and savouring the feeling of being completely connected.

The slow, shallow thrusts soon developed into a more passionate, frantic pace and Genma swore that he saw a slight piece of heaven as Neji’s body turned rigid and in turn milked him dry as well.

Genma gathered a towel to clean them up before they crawled under the covers, knowing that Neji would go crazy otherwise. He held the young ninja close to himself and buried his face in the long hair.

“This was much better then any fantasy…” Neji sighed and snuggled closer to Genma and the older man chuckled.

“See to that you make it in the exam, and you won’t have to fantasise anymore.” He purred against Neji’s neck and the proud Hyuuga prodigy laughed softly.

“If you put it that way, I just have to pass, won’t I?” He whispered before his eyes slipped shut in sleep and Genma soon followed him.

The next day Shikamaru was awaken by the loud banging on the door and the screaming that indicated that his mother had realised what was going on. He rubbed his temples and got out of bed and thanked the gods that he was one of those few lucky people that just didn’t get hangovers. Not that the sleep depravation didn’t affect him and he really wanted to stay in bed for his free day… But he had also realised that it would come to this.

He opened the door to let his screaming mother in and suck a finger in one of his ears to at least save some of his hearing. He knew from experience that it was best to let his mum scream herself tired before starting to argue… So he ignored what ever was coming out of her mouth and headed for the kitchen and put some coffee on. But as he was leaning against the kitchen wall and waiting for it to finish and his mum to be done screaming he was suddenly grabbed by the arm and twisted around to stand face to face with his father. His mum was always scary but the look on his dad’s face was something that he had never seen before… Suddenly he realised that his father was holding one of the empty sake bottles…

“Shit…”

A sharp slap landed on his face and he was forced to turn his head and blink away some tears that had appeared in his eyes from the unexpected pain.

“What the hell is this Shikamaru!?! It’s bad enough that you just leave without even telling us and thinking that you’re old enough to live on your own, but this! You’re just a kid Shikamaru! Who the hell was stupid enough to buy you this??? Do I have to spank you like you were an insolent child?!?”

“Why don’t you try?” The defiance in Shikamaru’s voice startled both his parents and they could only stare as they realised that they both was tied down by Shika’s shadows. “I’m not having you treat me like a kid anymore, I’ve had enough of that already. Don’t you understand that that was why I left? I’m not a kid anymore, no matter what you want or think. If you wanted to keep me a kid you shouldn’t have let me enter the chonin exam. For the fact is that the second I was appointed Chonin, I stopped being a child. It was decided that I had the ability to lead others and for that… Even according to law, I became an adult.”

His parents stared at him for a while, then his father was the one to finally start talking.
“What do you mean even according to law? And when did you become this strong?”

“I’ve become this strong because I had to, all the missions Kakashi-san and I have done has been hard, some even on the verge of impossible, but if he could do it I swore that I wouldn’t let him down. And as for the law, well, I’ve found out that according to Konoha law, you are counted as an adult when you become a Chonin. That means that you have no right to say anything about my life anymore. If you don’t like it I suggest that you take it to the Hokage instead of bugging me about it.” He glared at them before sighing and scratching the back of his head. “I don’t like fights or screaming, you know that. But I can’t be a kid one second and an adult the next. I know that I have a lot more to learn, but those things I have to learn on my own.”

One hour later, a lot of coffee later and actually a calm talk his parents left. His mother wasn’t very happy about it all, but with the surprising aid of his father he had managed to make her understand that he needed to do this. His father was however still not very happy about him drinking and still tried to find out who had bought him the sake. He had blankly refused to tell them and had thrown Kakashi’s favourite argument at them, sending his mother into shock.

“If I’m old enough to get married I’m old enough to drink.”

But his mothers parting words had him frowning. ‘I know you think Kakashi is your friend… But he’s a Hatake, and no Hatake has ever brought the Naras anything but pain. Be aware of him, don’t let him to close… He’ll only betray you in the end.’ He had no idea of what she meant, but he couldn’t for the life of him see Kakashi betraying him.

It wasn’t after he had taken a shower to rid himself of the argument that he started to think about previous night, about Iruka and Gaara and… He flopped down on the floor and cursed as he realised what had taken place between himself and Kakashi. Where did this put them now? He knew what he had told Kakashi, but he now realised that the Copy-ninja had told nothing about his feelings, or what he wanted. Would he really betray him like his mother had said? Would every body know what had taken place between them by now? But no… Kakashi wouldn’t do that to him. The Copy-ninja hadn’t mocked him, or ever done anything to make Shikamaru doubt him. But still… He had merely reacted to what Shikamaru had said. But in away he guessed it made sense… The older man had probably had his share of relationships and wasn’t about to chase after a insecure boy that kissed him one second and then said that he didn’t know what he wanted the next.

Shikamaru was startled from his thoughts as there was a soft knock on the door. He frowned and got up and answered the door. To his surprise he found his old sensei outside.

“Iruka-sensei? Did you forget something yesterday?”

“No… I… Well… I was sort of wondering if I could talk to you…”

The blushing and the fear in Iruka’s voice made Shikamaru realise that Kakashi once again had been right… Iruka and Gaara… What was coming next?

“Sure.” He let Iruka in and closed the door behind him. “It’s about Gaara isn’t it?”

Iruka paled and his eyes widened. “How on earth did you know?”

Shikamaru shrugged and smirked. “Kakashi thought that something might have happened between the two of you considering the way Gaara acted when we returned, and I must say that it seems as if he was right once again… So, spill.”

Inwardly Iruka couldn’t help but smile at the way that Kakashi had already affected the young chuunin, but he was also terrified about what was going on in his own head. They both sat down at the small kitchen table with a cup of coffee each.

“I’m not sure what to say Shikamaru… My head is just so screwed up at the moment. Yesterday… I didn’t see a kid, I saw him. And… And I liked that person. But…” Iruka failed to put words to his thoughts and Shikamaru sighed and took pity on his old sensei.

“But he’s the same age as me and Naruto, and he’s a he and beside all of that he has a monster locked away inside of him… Yes, I could figure all of that out. But he’s also someone who always has been forced to take care of himself, always been the outcast. I think that if you should fear anything when it comes to Gaara, it’s his insecurity. He has no idea of how to behave towards other people and his declaration of likening someone usually comes combined with death treats. What you should ask yourself is would you be able to handle that? To guide him without forcing? Besides me and Neji, you’re the one from this village that actually has spent most time with him, and that was only work. You shouldn’t be here, go to him, try to figure out what you really feel about him. And if it’s worth it.”

“You really have changed Shika…”

“Nah, changing is troublesome.” He smirked at his old sensei and stretched. “Why did you come to me though Iruka? Why not go to talk to Genma or Kakashi?”

“Genma is training with Neji and I didn’t have the heart to interrupt that. And Kakashi and I have never really been that close, just both friends of Genma. Besides, he left on a mission this morning, didn’t you know that?”

Shikamaru paled slightly and shook his head before grinning slightly to hide his disappointment. “Guess he forgot to tell me, not surprisingly when it comes to him.”

Iruka had a strong feeling that he was missing something but let it slide for now and decided to take Shikamaru’s advice and go and see Gaara. Maybe he could help the sand ninja train or something….

Once again Shikamaru was alone with his confused thoughts. Why had Kakashi just left? Was he that appalled with what hade taken place between them? Cause no matter what he had said to Iruka, Kakashi had never left before saying goodbye since they first teamed up. He tried to occupy him self with unpacking his stuff for the rest of the day. But as he finally hit the bed late at night his mind was still buzzing with questions and his body was aching in exauchion. He was actually glad that he wouldn’t have another day of until after the third exam.
