Chapter 7
A/N: Yes, this fic apparently contains all sorts of permutations between Pein, Kakashi, Itachi and Kisame, though the main pairing is PeinKaka.
CHAPTER 7
Kakashi stayed by the orphanage for the next several hours, asking the girl and the other children who wandered by the fence various questions – when the orphanage was built, how many were there, did all of the children in Ame cared for in such a way… The children answered with obvious delight. As Kakashi learned, Pein had ordered the reconstruction of the village right after he was finished with his bloody coup… and the first people that had been helped were the children – those children who were trampled over, abused and exploited by the previous regime, they had been given home and food and education, and when it was possible, love too.
The revelation was more than shocking for Kakashi, perhaps more so than all the things he saw in Ame that day. That practice was highly unusual for a hidden village. Even in Konoha, which considered itself one of the most humane in their world, the orphans were often left to their own devices if they were old enough to dress and wash themselves. People occasionally went by their houses to bring them their allowance, but no one really cared for them, and whatever social skills they got were taught in school. Kakashi knew that he had been lucky that Minato-sensei had taken him under his wing. Naruto, despite all he had suffered at the hands of the villagers had had Iruka… but it was Sasuke who had had no one. Despite the widespread admiration and awe that people expressed for him as the last of the Uchiha clan, no one had bothered to try and look after him. Perhaps that was why he had ended up the way he did.
Deep in thought, sitting on the ground by the orphanage’s fence, the jounin hadn’t realized how quickly the day had gone by until the sun slid below the horizon and storm clouds began to gather once again. Not wishing to end up looking like a drowned cat all over again Kakashi stood up and hurriedly made his way back to the tower.
He had just got in his room when there was a knock and Kakashi recognized the massive chakra signature of the person behind the closed door – it was the large Mist nin.
“Come in.” the jounin called. The door opened and Kisame entered noislessly. Once again, Kakashi couldn’t help but marvel at the fact that someone as huge and heavy as that man was able to move so quietly and gracefully. In his hands he was carrying a bento box.
Kakashi gave the man a curious look.
“There are not enough servants in here so you’re bringing me my dinner?”
The large nin gave him a smile that showed far too many sharp teeth.
“I could always return it, if you wish.” He answered.
Kakashi’s stomach, which hadn’t had anything since the morning, growled. Loudly. Kisame’s smile widened.
“I thought not.” He said and handed Kakashi the box, then moved to sit down on his bed as he watched the jounin unpack the food.
“Make yourself at home.” Kakashi muttered.
“I am at home, Kakashi-san.” The man answered cheekily, but there was no malice in his voice. Strange.
Unwilling to sit next to the Mist nin on the bed, Kakashi pulled the chair by the desk closer and sat down there.
“What do you want, Hoshigaki?” he asked and took a small bite of the tempura. Oh, that was delicious. “I doubt that you’re here just because you wanted to play servant and bring me my food.”
Kisame shrugged.
“I have no particular agenda, Kakashi-san. Other than, ah, perhaps tell you to try and be a little more polite. After all, we’ve shown you nothing but courtesy ever since you’ve been here.”
“Only you wouldn’t let me leave.” Kakashi said.
“Courtesy does have its price.” Since Kakashi kept frowning at him, Kisame continued. “You have not been harmed so far, have you? Pein-sama could’ve ripped you to shreds the other night, if he wanted to.”
“This Pein… he is your leader?” Kakashi asked and watched closely at Kisame’s expression, but the man was too experienced and too well-trained to show any sort of weakness or surprise.
“Indeed.”
“And he rules this place. Like a Kage.” Kakashi paused and then corrected himself. “Making the villagers think he’s a god?”
“That he does.”
“Why the charade?”
Kisame shrugged again.
“People full of blind faith are easier to rule.”
“Ah.” Kakashi snorted sarcastically.
“I assure you, Kakashi-san, he does not abuse his power over the people. He loves them.”
“If your…Leader, god, Kage, whatever he is, is so damn benevolent, why does he mount the attacks on everyone else?” Poison dripped in Kakashi’s tone. “Why does he cause so much misery?”
Kisame looked at him for a while, expression closed off and thoughtful.
“He does it exactly because he’s such a benevolent ruler, Kakashi-san.”
“…That is the biggest load of crap I’ve ever heard.”
“Believe what you will. I am not at liberty to tell you more at the moment. Perhaps, in time, Pein-sama himself will explain things to you.”
Kakashi gave him a dubious look and sighed.
“Whatever.”
After a few more bites, he asked.
“Where is the Uchiha? The two of you are usually attached at the hip.”
Kisame smiled again.
“He’s…aah, with Pein-sama at the moment.”
Indeed, high above the floor where Kisame and Kakashi were having a not so friendly talk, the Akatsuki-leader was doing something far more pleasant. He rarely had time to indulge himself in such a way, but sometimes, when he saw the quiet desperation in the Uchiha’s eyes, the creeping madness which not even Kisame could chase away, he called the younger man to his quarters.
Sometimes, he just held him, offering the quiet comfort of someone who knew what loss and betrayal felt like, what festering guilt felt like. Sometimes, that was not enough, and he took Itachi to his bedchamber, laying him down on the bed, undressing him and covering him with kisses.
The brunette was most pliant in these sessions, content to be pleasured and looked after, pampered, even. He held onto Pein as his leader thrust into him, the bed creaking under them.
The red-head looked down at his lover as he rocked into him, watching the expression on his flushed face as he paused for a moment and rotated his hips, pressing even closer against his spot and teasing it mercilessly. The full, moist lips opened and his little pink tongue came out to wet them further as Itachi panted and groaned at the onslaught of sensation. Pein couldn’t help himself and leaned to suck on his tongue before he continued to thrust again. The Uchiha’s mouth always tasted sweet, probably from all the sweets he not so secretly gorged himself onto and Pein couldn’t get enough of kissing him when he took him.
The pale legs around his hips tightened and one of the Uchiha’s small hands travelled down to Pein’s firm ass, gripping a taut cheek and urging him on.
“Harder.” He begged in his pierced ear, warm breath caressing his skin.
Pein buried his face in Itachi’s shoulder, his long silken hair tickling his cheeks and complied with the quiet plea.
Itachi’s fingers were digging in his back as he moaned softly with each thrust and the brunette instinctively turned to kiss and suck on the numerous piercings in his Leader’s ear. His erection was trapped between their sweat-slick bodies and all it took for Pein to make him come was to reach between them and run his index finger over the leaking tip. Itachi mewled and his back arched, the walls around Pein’s own organ rippled and tightenedg as the Uchiha rode out the wave of his ecstasy. A few more thrusts afterwards and he was there too, chocking a moan and finishing inside the young man, eyes closed and head thrown back in pleasure.
Afterwards, they collapsed on the bed and Pein pulled Itachi in his embrace. The brunette murmured something under his breath and curled up in his arms, his petite form fitting there quite well. For a while, Pein watched him and wondered if the reason for the Uchiha’s emotional distress earlier hadn’t been the other Konoha nin – and all the memories his presence brought back.
