“Alright, I know I said I would focus my time on Sakura, however this is a VERY difficult exercise that I think you could all do with mastering,” causing all three to lean forward in anticipation, “the exercise is to attach senbon to your fingertips using only chakra,” he explained causing both Naruto and Sasuke to facevault, “seriously… it is the hardest chakra control exercise Konoha possesses, most Jōnin are still learning it,” he explained in a serious tone of voice.
“That’s not the point Kakashi-sempai… the point is that it was invented by Naruto,” Sasuke stated as he removed his face from the ground, causing Kakashi to blink in disbelief.
“Why would Naruto invent a new chakra control exercise?” Sakura asked in confusion.
“Because he has too damned much chakra to create a basic bunshin without it,” the onyx eyed teen told her.
‘I’m going to have to asked Genma about this later,’ the one eyed ninja thought to himself before asking a simple question, “show me the exercise.”
And without complaints, the pair each attached a senbon to the tip of each finger, cementing the fact that they already knew the exercise.
“Fine then… go do whatever you normally do,” Kakashi said, before the duo went back to their normal activities, “well you know what to do, now get to it!”

Sakura was surprised… the exercise had proven to be a LOT harder than she thought it would be. The first couple of senbon were easy to attach, but as she added more, she soon found herself having to regulate a precise amount of chakra in several miniscule areas rather than a couple of large ones like with the previous exercises. Keeping your concentration on maintaining the chakra in each area got harder as you had to split your concentration among a larger number of areas. Chakra control came into play simply because the better your control was, the less you had to adjust your chakra output in order to keep it a constant, which in turn reduced the amount of concentration you needed to apply to each area.
Kakashi had told her that he had difficulty with eight upwards and that he was still practicing the exercise himself… which made her inability to go above five seem a lot less embarrassing. However comparing herself to her teammates, she realised that they had better chakra control than their sensei… something that was unheard of in heavy hitters.
What surprised her though, was her teammates lack of desire to show off. Even when given the opportune moment in which to boast about their skills they didn’t, though Sakura was surprised at Naruto’s offer to teach her some basic iryōjutsu. That was another thing about them, they were well rounded. Even their weakest area’s were still Chūnin level, not genin or academy student level like her.
But at the moment that didn’t matter… she was supposed to be enjoying her lunch with the rest of her team. “Pfft, speak for yourself, unlike you I don’t have the chakra capacity to make bunshin capable of practicing ninjutsu for any length of time,” Sasuke said in response to his comment.
“True… but you can still focus on your taijutsu, kenjutsu and genjutsu at the same time,” retorted the blond.
“Fair point.”
The quartet sat in silence, save for the sound of eating, with Sakura and Kakashi not coming up with any good conversation starters, while Naruto and Sasuke didn’t really care about starting one.
After several minutes though, a conversation starter walked in the front door.
“Hey Sei-chan!” was heard throughout the store, as the dark haired teenager walked towards team 7’s table.
“Hey Naruto-kun, Sasuke,” she said with a smile, before squeezing in next to the whiskered genin and stealing a sausage.
“Um Naruto… who is she?” Kakashi asked as he watched another person join the all you can eat barbeque.

“Yep.”

Less than a millisecond later, the dark haired boy had a purple clad girl with long blonde hair tied into a ponytail, latched onto his neck.
“Ino-san… please get off me before I apply for a restraining order to be placed on you,” Sasuke said calmly.

“There should be a small merchant caravan waiting for you by the north gate, your objective is to protect the owner from random bandit attacks until they reach Tanzaku-gai,” Sarutobi informed them.
“Hai Hokage-sama… alright team, you have an hour to prepare, pack for a month, there’s a good chance the merchants will stop off at other towns along the way so it will be better if we’re prepared,” Kakashi ordered them, earning three ‘hai Kakashi-sempai/sensei’ from his underlings as they vanished to get ready.

“Sei-chan… can’t… breathe,” and with that she let him go, “look Sei-chan, I was okay thanks to Itachi-san and the bastard’s dead… there is nothing to worry about so I never felt it was important.”

“Yeah, I understand that… anyway, my teams just been given a C-rank mission to escort a merchant caravan to Tanzaku-gai, so I’ll be gone for a couple of weeks at least, I just came to say bye.”

“Yeah… I love you, you know that… I just didn’t want you to worry about something that didn’t matter,” he said before vanishing via shunshin.
“Yeah...” the brown eyed teen muttered before heading back to work.

“Hmm… I guess we could,” the Jōnin said before jumping into the trees, with the trio of genin quickly following him.
It only took them a day to get back to Konoha at their speed.
