The Revelation
A/N HAI GUIZE SORRY THERE'S NOT MORE HINATA IN THIS CHAPTER. ALSO SORRY FOR SHORTNESS.
She'll get a chapter all to herself soon, I promise. Also, yes, there IS a point to all this Sakura/Jiraiya interactiion. a HUGE plot point Seriously. Rates and reviews are LOVED. Especially con/crit <3 Enjoy. 888888888888888888888888888 “Tak tak tak” Sakura drums her fingers across the desk-Tsunade's desk, as she'd never been assigned a proper office, and had been forced to share the already cramped fileling space with her former teacher. Fuck Tsunade for keeping her here this long. Fuck Jiraiya for managing to ingest enough alcohol to kill a small village. Actually, fuck Shizune for being called away on an emergency S rank (cough Genma cough) mission so SHE had to run the Graveyard shift. Fuck Kakashi. Fuck Sai. Fuck Ino. Fuck Naru- Sakura feels an uncomfortable heat welling up in her forehead, from embarrassment, stress, or flat out anger, she doesn't know. Well /fuck/ She doesn't want to think about it right now. Actually, she /can't/ think about it right now, because she's got two patients in intensive care she's supposed to be watching over. Right then. Thinking about Naruto could wait. She chews nervously at the tip of her pen, glancing over her shoulder. She'd had Jiraiya moved into the room next to Hinata, just to make things easier, and wonders absently if she should check on either of them. It's been almost three hours, light was beginning to peel in through the blinds. Fuck it's late-early-whatever. As much as she wants to check up on Hinata, she knows her girlfriend's condition is far more stable than the aging sannin. And as much as she doesn't want to chance having him wake up and quite possibly unload another three hundred pounds of emotional baggage onto her, the nagging medic-nin part of her conscience wins her over, and she reluctantly lets herself -quietly- into his room. “Really? So early?” /Shit/ “Have you been awake this whole time?” Sakura says softly, hiding the frustration in her voice. “Off and on.” She frowns. “Odd. Given your condition you should be out cold. Anyways, you should at least /try/.” “I have. ” he replies gruffly. “It's not like these hospital beds are the most comfortable things. And it's, not like mental turmoil is exactly relaxing. ” Great. Sakura sighs inwardly. Looks like she's going to have to play psychiatrist to get anywhere with him, though she wonders if the damage control is even worth it at this point. Exhaling, she kneels down level to the bed “Jiraiya-sama,” she starts softly. “Do you mind if I ask you something?” “Depends.” Sakura swallows audibly the tiniest twinge of nervousness welling up inside her throat. “It's not Tsunade-seisshou, is it?” He closes his eyes, and much to her surprise lets out a throaty laugh. “Tsunade? Have my kid? In my dreams, maybe.” “Does she even know? “I'm still alive, aren't I?” A smile tugs at the corners of her lips. “I suppose you two, whoever it was, weren't really official then? I mean-” Sakura covers her mouth, cheeks tinted pink. “Sorry, that was rude. ” “No, it's not. It was rude of me for bringing this up back at the bar.” he sighs heavily. “No, we weren't in a relationship. Not 'that' kind anyway. She was a student of mine." He chuckles softly, the beginnings of a smile on his face. “Y'know they always warn about these kinda situations when you become a jounin, before, during and after you have a squad. I never took it seriously. I suppose I should have. ” Sakura's eyes widen. “So, she was one of your gennin?” “No, not quite. And I know what your thinking-” dark eyes dart over to meet hers. “She was young when I was teaching her, but nothing happened until years later. I'd been doing routine reconnaissance missions to their village. Our meetings from that point on were secret, and one huge lapse of judgment and nine months later. . .” he trails off. Sakura feels uncomfortable with the silence. “A little boy, you said. ” she coaxes warmly, smiling again. “What's his name?” “Tenshi. She wanted to name him Oru.” he snorts. “Poor kid would've been beaten on the playground.” “What's he look like?” “Either dark blue or black hair, not enough to tell when I last saw him. Pffft. His hair could be as long as mine now, for all I know. It has been three years. ” “Three years huh?” Sakura feels her heart sinking, and finds herself wondering not only who this woman was, but how she could be so fucking heartless. And she finds herself wondering how the most notorious womanizing drunken pervert in the known ninja world was managing to act this fatherly. Wondering if she'd be able to feel even an iota of this for her own kid. /Hinata's baby. Not hers/ And she suddenly finds herself feeling truly, deeply scared. “Then,” She pauses. “I mean I can understand if you don't want to tell me, but-” “Under one condition” She raises an eyebrow. “Huh?” “You promise not to breath a word of this to anyone. Not Tsunade. Not Naruto. No-one.” “Why would I-” “Promise?” Sakura lets out a defeated sigh, wondering just when, and how hard this will come back to bite her in the ass. ” “Okay, promise. Now who is she? Do I know her?” “No. And I hope you never will. She's an S-rank criminal and missing-nin. Extremely dangerous. ” Sakura's jaw drops. “Wha-how would you even-?” “Look Sakura-san, there's a reason I haven't seen my kid in three years. ” Jiraiya lets out a long withheld breath, his narrow eyes meeting her ever-widening ones. “Her name is Konan, and she's currently second in command of the Akatsuki.” 8888888888888 *Oru means "to fold" as in folding Origami paper. Bonus points if you got that*
