Disclaimer:
I don't own Naruto, and I am not obtaining money through the establishing of these stories. They are strictly for fun, and nothing more.
A Game of Tag; Abandoning the Party!
Heyo! Hero here! =^-^=
Not much to say about this chapter, except that once again,Nagisa is ready to give Shikamaru another *run* for his money. Maybe more >.<
I'm having such a hard time resisting the urge to add 'Shika/OC' to the story's list of pairings. Meh. I'll think about it.
And I am glad that the story is amusing you,Golden Kitsune, haha (:
Look forward to more silly incidents.
Enjoy~

'Suprise!" exclaimed a chorus of voices. Nagisa stared blankly at the group of people gathered around before her,not quite sure of what she was seeing.
Suprise? What was she supposed to be suprised about? Or perhaps, this was all an arrangement meant for Sasuke. After staring at the many smiling faces, the female Uchiha turned to the silent man beside her.
"Hey,Uchiha? What's this all about?"
"It's a welcoming party," answered a blonde, spikey haired man. She recognized him as the Seventh Hokage; the Orange Ninja. Naruto was it? He wore a huge, pearly white grin that Nagisa felt was contageous and found herself smiling back at him.
"That's right," said another voice, surpisingly clear and full of formality. Nagisa discovered that it belonged to a rather pale,dark-haired young man. His features were strikingly similar to Sasuke's,though she found that he was individually attractive in his own way. He tilted his head and gave her a smile that seemed a little too forced to be real. "Hello. I am Sai,"
"Uh...hi," Nagisa replied, feeling a slight sense of awkwardness. If he didn't want to smile at her, then why the hell was he even trying? 'Jeez' she sighed inwardly and crossed her arms over her chest.
Nagisa was just memorizing all the faces staring back at her, when she realized that they were all waiting for her to introduce herself. Straightening up and clearing her throat, she put on a smile.
"I'm Nagisa Uchiha. And I'm gonna turn your worlds upside down!"
The blonde haired,blue-eyed girl sitting next to a man with painted swirls on either sides of his cheeks raised an eyebrow, and her lips curled into a smirk. "Oh,really?" she mused. "You sound fun already,"
Nagisa was about to reply, when she felt a hand pulling her away gently from where she stood, and guiding her to the table. As she sat down, she turned hesitantly to face the one that had pulled her,and her eyes locked with a pair of cerulean ones which beamed at her as if she were just one of the crowd. Naruto gave her a curious look that she was ready to question, and then the entire group began to talk among themselves.
While she was certainly the type to be friendly,Nagisa decided to simply remain quiet and study the people around her. They were such a lively bunch,so enthusiastic in each of their conversations, including when they were speaking to her. She began to match names with faces, applying details she meant to remember to her memory about each and every one of their personalities. Some of them immediately made it easy for her to analyze them,as they were very open and unreserved, even in front of a new being in their presence.
First, there was the outgoing blonde woman. Her name was Ino,and her boyfriend was called Chouji. While she was outspoken and had a bit of a temper, she had a kind side that seemed earnest enough to blend through her rough edges. He,on the other hand, seemed gentle natured. However,it became apparent that he was somewhat sensitive to certain subjects that involved his weight, and the effect of any instances where the matter would be brought to surface would lead to an attempted assault on his offender. This happened once, and only once in Nagisa's presence, with the offender being a very dark haired, emotionless male who smiled through the entire string of insults that followed his ill statement.
Fortunately,a pink haired kunoichi called Sakura had stepped in to mediate when things became out of hand, and in the instant she seemed to think that the situation called for a more physical scolding. Nagisa had winced at the sound of the woman's fist slamming down on saidvictim's skull,as the force of the blow resulted in leaving a bump the size of a small melon atop the artist's head. By the end of the troubling incident,Nagisa warily concluded that Sakura Haruno was without a doubt,a scary person, and the Uchiha vowed to do everything she could to steer clear of the kunoichi's wrath.
The rest of the group did little to agitate a scene. At some point,Nagisa was introduced to the beautiful, violet eyed Hyuuga Heiress Hinata and her cousin Neji. Like her and Sasuke, they bothed possessed a kekkei genkai called the Byakuugan. Nagisa had said that she wanted to see it in action,to which Neji replied he was more than willing to demonstrate sometime. The male Hyuuga seemed generally nice, but he didn't seem to say much; only speaking when spoken to. His cousin, however, was even far more quiet, even bashful about engaging in light conversation.
Nagisa found her shyness to be overwhelmingly adorable,so much that Sasuke had to restrain the blue-eyed Uchiha on more than one occasion as she felt the urge to embrace Hinata, making her melt and blush until she was finally freed. Her boyfriend called Kiba, looked as though he was unsure of whether to interfere or watch with a wavering curiousity.
Somewhere among the multiple conversations,Nagisa found herself silent again with no one else to talk to. She considered striking up a light conversation with her raven haired house mate, but discovered that he was deeply engaged in an arguement with the blonde Hokage over something about their late arrival.
Nagisa sighed and let her cheek fall to rest in her open hand, and turned to face the front windows of the restaurant..
That's when she saw him.
He sauntered lazily into the doorway of the shop, hands shoved into his pockets and looking for all the world like he could care less if there was a party of his fellow shinobi going on right in front of him. Nagisa half expected the entire table to turn their heads in acknowledgement to him,but nothing of the sort had happened. Her eyes locked onto the sharp, brown eyes of the ponytailed man,and with her new aquaintances still conversationally engaged, she slipped away and walked over to meet him.
Shikamaru's eyes briefed over the woman that was approaching him. The glint in her deep, oceanic orbs told him to be wary of her,as the grin that graced her lips was a sure sign of his impending subduction. The door to the restaurant was about four feet away, but it felt as though if he turned to make a desperate escape now,it would be a clumsy one. She'd done well enough to slip away from her own party, and Shikamaru shortly entertained the impossible thought that somehow, just maybe, she'd found his sudden presence to be just a little more intruging than her sulking male counterpart's.
Once the thought crossed his mind,Shikamaru quickly discarded it and allowed his eyes to sojourn the form of the woman now standing before him.
"Hey,handsome," she said in a low, sultry voice. The grin on her lips slowly turned into a smile. Shikamaru shifted uncomfortably under the weight of her gaze, willing his eyes to focus on the Uchiha's face rather than the pronounced way that her breasts held snug beneath the too small black t-shirt that she wore. Her eyes clouded with something he couldn't immediately define, but it was gone before he could think on it for more than a second.
"Uh...hey," the lazy jounin replied, heaving a sigh that probably came off bored; maybe even impatient, but that was the truth of it. He didn't feel like playing any games with this woman today. If she wanted something from him,she was better off telling him what it was so he could get on with doing...well,particularly nothing.
"I had fun yesterday," the Uchiha woman said, and her voice was teasing. Shikamaru snorted to himself, allowing his light brown eyes to rise to the ceiling. She'd had fun? Something told him not to feel so suprised,as he had sort of figured this out the previous day. Chasing her around had proved to be vain in the end,but she'd gotten a few laughs out of it. It had all been at his expense, and afterward,Naruto hadn't even bothered to penalize her. That Naruto...he had to be the world's most leniant Hokage.
"Glad I could entertain you,but I have things to do now," the cloud-gazing jounin said finally. Of course, that was a complete lie but she didn't have to know that; that is,if she was going to buy it at all.
"Oh? You're going to attend that party?" the female Uchiha asked and jabbed a thumb in the direction of the table behind her. The sound of crashing, followed by a series of yelling voices made the disdain become apparent on Shikamaru's face. The faint, sly grin beginning to take form on her lips caused him to groan inwardly.
"Come on," she said, taking him by the arm and pulling him out of the restaurant's entrance and into the afternoon sunlight. The rays shone down on them, bringing warmth to their skin, which had adapted to the air conditioned little shop.
Nagisa wasn't exactly sure why,or even when but before she knew it,herself and the lazy young man were walking along the sidewalk past the strips of little shops in the village. Through the silence of their stroll, she couldn't think of much of anything, only that she was more accustomed to being outside, and was grateful to have an excuse to be out of the little shop that made her feel closed in. The people that had so graciously welcomed her were still people that were unfamiliar to her,and having had only one person in her life show her even less than that amount of friendliness had caused her inner uncertainess to surface and lead her to instinctively stray away.
But wasn't this man a stranger as well? Perhaps it was his indifferent demeanor that had drawn her near in simple curiousity to him. He was not as accomodating as his friends, but the reason didn't seem to be because of what had gone on between them the previous day.
A truce had gone unrequieted between them as they walked the streets of Konoha, but she got the feeling that he hadn't cared about the chase that he'd been led on yesterday enough to harbor ill feelings towards her in the first place. Maybe that was just the way he was. He was not as easy to analyze as the rest, and that had led her to want to study him just a little closer.
"So um...you're Nagisa, right?" Shikamaru finally decided to break the the silence. His head was turned to the sky, eyes resting there to concentrate heavily on the clouds drifting along the blue. "Quite a contrast between your male counterpart, huh?"
The woman snorted and simply shook her head. "I can't really think of that guy as my relative. We are definitely different and that is exactly the reason why,"
Shikamaru sighed and shoved his hands into his pockets. "Well, you know what they say...opposites attract,"
"They say that?" Nagisa frowned and shot a glance in his direction while trying to keep an eye trained on the street ahead.
"Well, yeah," he scratched the back of his hair. While he understood that it was true,he couldn't really explain the why part. It was just another one of those things you could only look at scientifically, and he found it annoying enough to endlessly tumble around in his mind without a more satisfying explaination. In the end,it would only leave him with the same frustration he started with from the beginning.
"So?" the Uchiha said a few moments later. He tone sounded expectant,so the jounin gave her a side glance to study her expression. She was grinning from ear to ear. What kind of look was that?
"What?" Shikamaru mumbled, dark brows knitting. Nagisa tilted her head and her lips twisted into a pout.
"Ya got a name?"
The two of them simultaneously ceased their stroll.
"Shikamaru," the dark haired man replied finally. The pouty look on the woman's face disappeared and was replaced with confusion.
"Really..." she said, her tone laced with fascination. She brought a finger to her bottom lip,and began to tap it thoughtfully. "That's suprisingly just,"
Shikamaru fixed the Uchiha with a smirk and turned to lean against the wall near the alley that they had come to. "So I've been told...Hey,where are we even going?"
The unreadable expression on Nagisa's face as she stared ahead of them told him that she hadn't the slightest clue. "I'm not sure," she confirmed. Shikamaru turned his head to study the area in front of them, knowing very well where they were right now. It was the exact spot where their chase had begun the day before. He wondered if she had unconsciously brought them here,or if she knew where they were going all along. His eyes shifted to her then,half-expecting her to take off the moment the thought had registered into his mind. But she didn't.
"Hey,we should probably head back, don't you--"
"I'm not ready yet," Nagisa replied, before he could complete his sentence. She felt his eyes narrowing on her,as she studied the busy little town. "Yo...Shikamaru,right?"
"Yeah. What is it?"
"The area on the outskirts of town is pretty big right?" Nagisa forced a smile away from her lips.
Chocolate brown eyes widened slightly at the woman. He could almost see the wheels turning in her mind. Knowing that some sort of plan was beginning to form within it,Shikamaru was cautious in his reply. "It's expansive...but again,it's outside of the village so we aren't permitted to leave,"
The female Uchiha's frown returned and she bit down on her bottom lip. "So then...is there any other foresty landscape within the village?"
Shikamaru sighed and leaned back further against the wall where he stood and folded his arms. "What are you getting at,woman...?"
Nagisa grinned; she thought he'd never ask.
"Our last game of tag was interrupted,so no one won. I want to have a rematch,"
Shikamaru stared at the Uchiha as if she'd just grown another head. Was she serious? 'This woman...everything seems to be like a game to her,' the cloud-gazing shinobi grumbled momentarily to himself and then allowed his arms to drop to his sides. He didn't know why he wasn't going to argue with her; but he'd decided not to.
"Look,I don't really know what sort of thing you could hope to gain from something so juvenille. But I've got nothing better to do. So I'm in,"
Nagisa graced the lazy man with a wide grin before snatching his wrist in her small grasp. "Awesome. Let's go,then,"

"Her eyes are blue, man. They aren't black!"
"But how can they be? Hey,Sasuke? Don't all Uchihas...?"
Sasuke Uchiha's gaze fixed on the empty seat before him, cursing himself silently. How hadn't he noticed? He was not one who became easily distracted, especially by trivial things such as watching an Aburame clan member sitting across from him play chubby bunny with all the dango he could fit into his mouth. There was also the instance where he'd become momentarily alarmed when his blonde friend had attempted to do the same with all the ice cubes in his glass, though the result had called immediate medical attention from a pink haired kunoichi who happened to be an expert in the profession.
Which of these instances had left him completely oblivous? When had she managed to escape him? Sasuke's eyes glared daggers at the entrance of the restaurant, completely unaware that he was being spoken to,until he felt a gentle hand come to rest on his shoulder.
"Sasuke," said a soft voice. Naruto leaned over to catch a glimpse of his friend's troubled expression. "What's wrong?"
"Nagisa is gone," Sasuke replied dryly. The blonde nodded, but didn't seem alarmed in the slightest.
"Yeah, she left with Shikamaru when he walked in. Not sure where they went, but I'm sure she'll be fine--"
The hand on Sasuke's shoulder fell away as the Uchiha stood up suddenly, chair tipping backwards to fall onto the floor with a sound clatter. The abrupt noise caused the lively party to come to a deafening silence, and all heads turned to the direction of the scene. Naruto's hand reached out to grab a fistful of his dark haired friend's shirt, but Sasuke swatted the air behind him in indication that he was not to be followed, nor stopped. The Hokage dropped his arm down onto his lap and watched the Uchiha stalk out of the restaurant, leaving his friends abandoned to exchange even looks of apprehension.

"So,this is the biggest forest in in Konoha," Shikamaru said. His Uchiha companion strolled along side him. He'd decided that the land was expansive yet covered well enough to be appropriate for the game they inteded to play. Again, the jounin had to ask himself why he was even willing to participate in something so childish. Maybe it had been the way she'd went about asking him, that had made it a bit more of a reasonable request. She'd demanded a rematch without even offering some sort of compensation.
With hands still shoved into his pockets, the lazy young man crossed the large training field that blended into the foresty area surrounding it. Nagisa stood on the opposite side with her arms behind her head, which was lifted to the sky. A flock of black birds passed over them from out of the trees on Shikamaru's side and he watched then disappear as they arched their wings and lifted higher into the sky...
"Well, make your move," Nagisa called, her voice carrying sharply over the distance between them. Shikamaru lowered his gaze from the blue and momentarily studied the jittering Uchiha before him.
"Ah,wait," he said, which caused her to halt. No way was he going to do this just for shits and giggles. 'I want some sort of reward if I have to do this. You did drag me away from a public affair,so I think it's only just if you compensate for your troublesome insistence,"
Nagisa frowned and pressed a hand to her hip. "So you want a prize if you win? Well.." it didn't seem unreasonable. If anything,it would make things all the more exciting. "Alright then. What do you want if you win?"
What did he want?
Here,he'd gone and made a request like that and he hadn't even given this part much thought. There were few things in life that Shikamaru really wanted, besides to simply just enjoy life itself. Maybe just going along and playing this silly game would allow him the pleasure of doing just that. It was a beautiful day,and he would be moving around a lot once they began. One thing that he rarely ever did was see the brighter side of things, and so he was suprised at what little thought it had taken him to come up with the answer.
"I don't know yet,but trust me it won't be anything unreasonable,so I'll decide towards the end. How's that?"
"That's fine," the Uchiha complied. "But if I win, then there's something that I want too,"
"Oh?" Shikamaru couldn't say that he didn't see this coming.
"Uh huh," Nagisa's lips curled into a mischevious grin that lit her eyes with an equal touch of devilment. She pressed the tips of her fingers to her mouth to give them a soft kiss and blew across her palm in the lazy nin's direction.
Shikamaru had taken a hint, somewhat understanding the meaning of the gesture to be something a little more friendly than he would allow his imagination to concieve in regaurds to this unfamiliar woman.
"I get to kiss you," she insisted, confirming his assumption. For a split second,he entertained the idea that his current predicament just might be a win/win situation. It wasn't too bad of a request,as far as compensation went, and it wasn't like this woman was hard on the eyes. Besides,Shikamaru had relved in his fair share of lip on lip action many a time,so it shouldn't bother him the slightest...
'Well,not actually...'
The lazy shinobi sighed and brushed away any uncertainties about the situation to dwell on them later. "Fine," he agreed finally. A glint of elatedness danced in the Uchiha's deep blue eyes.
"Perfect," she grinned. "Then let's get started,"

So,that's it for this chapter. I've decided to ask for an opinion. Not necessecarily saying that it will be used in the story, but maybe it will be...So what do you think Shikamaru should ask for,if he wins the game? ^^
Looking forward to some feedback~ Until then...
