Disclaimer:
I do not own Naruto, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
You Can't Go Home Yet
This is the chapter before the chapter that you all have been waiting for.
Thank you reviewers. Umm…I have ramen. Like, 12 packages of it. Want some?
OMG I’m such an idiot. I just re-read my story, and in the 2nd chapter I combined their chakras, but in the 4th chapter I had Naruto take out Kyuubi’s chakra. Oops.
Oh, I found another mistake. In Ch. 7, I put 23/7 instead of 24/7. You knew what I meant.
In the same chapter I put ‘of fuck’ instead of ‘oh fuck’. I must have been having a bad spelling day.
Ch. 8 – ‘no’ instead of ‘now’.
And I used to pride myself on my spelling and grammar.

Ch. 9: You Can’t Go Home Yet
Kakashi searched through Sasuke’s fridge, trying to find something edible. It didn’t work. The boy had been sick so long that all of the food was either sour, moldy, or had freezer burn. Well, there was some ramen.
Instead of making the noodles, Kakashi took a quick shopping trip. When he came back he whipped up some rice balls and miso soup. To top it all of…a tomato.
Sasuke came down the stairs in a very good mood – even if he wasn’t smiling. He was all nice and clean and had his duck-butt hair style back, though he still looked like an anorexic girl.
His eyes widened at the sight of food. Real food, not the nutrient filled mush that Sakura insisted he eat while he was sick.
He didn’t hesitate to stuff his face, reminding Kakashi of Naruto. He quickly cut off that line of thought; it wasn’t fair to kick Sasuke’s ass when he was so sick. “Thanks Kakashi-sensei.”
“I’m just glad you’re eating.”
“Of course I’m eating. I can’t look so weak in front of my brother.”
Kakashi sweat dropped. ‘All this because of Itachi?’
The food and bath had given Sasuke a temporary energy boost, and he wanted to do something productive while it lasted. It hit him. ‘Itachi’s going to want his room. I could go clean it.’
With a new goal, Kakashi watched as Sasuke attempted to run (he legs still weren’t used to supporting his weight) upstairs and to Itachi’s room. Step 1: Throw the bed sheets and as much of Itachi’s clothing as possible in the washer (even though it was doubtful that they even fit anymore). Step 2: Dust, sweep, mop, and polish Itachi’s room. (Sasuke had a LOT of energy and was determined to make his aniki happy.) Step 3: Move bed sheets/clothes from washer to dryer, then put rest of the clothes in washer. Step 4: Take a nap. Sasuke flopped down on the closest thing next to him – Itachi’s bed. He woke up an hour later with no sign of having nightmares. Step 5: Remake Itachi’s bed and put clothes away; move clothes from washer to dryer. Step 6: Take another nightmare-less nap.
Kakashi had left as soon as he figured out that Sasuke was cleaning, not wanting to be talked into helping. Lazy bastard. Instead he went to the Hokage Tower to visit Naruto and the gang.
Itachi had just walked out of the door (they decided that it wouldn’t hurt for Kyuubi to stay with Naruto for another night to give Itachi some time alone with Sasuke. What the Council doesn’t know won’t hurt them) when Kakashi got there.
“You’re not going home, are you?” Kakashi asked.
“That was the plan. I haven’t seen Sasuke on good terms for almost 11 years,” Itachi said.
“About that. Sasuke has somehow managed to convince himself that you were on a mission to capture the person how killed your clan. It seems that he forgot about the near-death experience he had while fighting you and his purpose in life to hate you.”
“Possibly a good thing.”
“You can’t go home yet. Sasuke’s making you a surprise.”
Itachi raised an eyebrow, but shrugged it off. He followed Kakashi back inside to hang out with Naruto and Kyuubi, the latter still trying to make Itachi his mate.
“Hello Kakashi-sensei,” Naruto said.
Said jounin looked at Naruto with curiosity. The blonde seemed…calm. Kyuubi supplied the reason behind this strange behavior. “He hasn’t had ramen in three days.”
Naruto began to talk again, asking a question that seemed to come out of nowhere. “Who is Uzumaki? I mean, I know who my father is, so I know I don’t have his last name, which means it is my mother’s. But I have never heard of another Uzumaki. Neither has Nii-chan, and he’s only-he-knows years old.”
“….” Nobody had an answer, so Naruto continued.
“Tsunade-sama (Tsunade choked on her sake), I want to change my last name to Kitsune.”
“What? No!” Tsunade said.
“Why not? I mean, you can say ‘the Uchiha brothers’, but you can’t do that with me and my Nii-chan. And I think that ‘Naruto Kitsune’ sounds better than ‘Kyuubi Uzumaki’. It makes me sound cool and warns everybody that I’m a prankster.”
“Naruto, you are not changing your last name, and that’s final.”
“Then at least buy me ramen.”
“Kakashi?”
“I’m on it.” With that, Kakashi left with a poof, only to come back a few minutes later with three warm bowls of Ichiraku’s ramen.
After devouring them, Naruto scratched the back of his head. “So…does Sasuke know I’m here yet?”
“I didn’t have the chance to tell him. He was so excited that Itachi was coming back that he ran to take a shower before I could even say your name. Then I came here when he started to clean.”
Tsunade raised an eyebrow. “I thought Sakura did that.”
“She didn’t clean Itachi’s room.”
Itachi glared at Kakashi. “Sasuke’s sick and you let him clean my room?”
“It’s not contagious.”
“Sasuke’s sick, and you let him waste energy on cleaning my room instead of getting better? What kind of adult are you?!”
“The lazy and immature kind,” Naruto muttered under his breath.
Now, the room was full of strong shinobi and a demon, so off course they all had good hearing. So of course, they all heard him. Tsunade and Kyuubi snickered, Itachi held back an amused smirk, and Kakashi looked like he had just been denied his Icha Icha.

After Step 6 of mission Clean Itachi’s Room (the nap), Sasuke decided it was time to eat. Since Kakashi had so kindly went shopping for him, the youngest Uchiha had the ingredients necessary for dango.
‘Hm. I better make some more, just in case Itachi’s hungry when he gets back.’
As if the thought of him made him appear, Itachi walked in the door.
Sasuke smiled and ran over to his brother. “Itachi! You’re home!”
“Stop!” Itachi held out his hand.
Sasuke stopped so quickly that he almost fell. “What’s wrong?”
“You’re too big for that now.”
“Oh.” Sasuke reached back and scratched the back of his head. “Sorry Aniki.”
Itachi recognized this as a nervous habit Naruto had. ‘They really did spend too much – or not enough – time together.’
Sasuke began to talk out of nowhere again. “Are you hungry? I just finished making some dango.”
Itachi walked into the kitchen. “Some dango? Otouto, there’s enough here to last us three days.”
“I got a little carried away.”
“Ah. Well, let’s eat.”
“So, how was your mission?”
‘Mission? Oh, right.’ “It took longer than expected, but I caught him in the end.”
“Who was it?”
“…Madara. Uchiha Madara.”
“Madara? Didn’t he die like, forever ago?”
“Obviously not.” Sasuke yawned. “Why don’t you go to bed? I hear you’ve been sick.”
“But you just got (yawn) back.”
“I’ll be here tomorrow.”
“Promise?”
“Promise.”
“Good night, Aniki.”
“Good night, Otouto.” Itachi watched as his little brother walked up the stair and to his room. Deciding that he had a long day, Itachi went to his recently cleaned room, making a mental note to thank Sasuke later.
*****
You’re standing in front of the light this time, along with Neji. What the hell is Hyuuga standing so close to you? And why is he getting closer? He’s smiling. I’ve never seen him smile before. Are you making him smile? You’re smiling too, so I guess so.
Stop. Don’t let that bastard get any closer. I know what he’s going to do, and I don’t want to see it. I’m right here Naruto. Do you even care? Obviously not, because you let him kiss you. You’re letting him dominate you. Why aren’t you putting up a fight? The only person you’ve ever willingly submitted to was me, and only because you know that there will be consequences if you don’t.
And no, these are not tears. I just have something in my eye. It’s a good thing you can’t see me – even you could have come up with a better excuse.
Hyuuga is disappearing. Good, I would have killed the bastard if I had to look at him any longer. Is that Sai? What the hell?!
Do you not see the lust shining in his eyes? Are you really going to get that close to someone that just wants to fuck you? I don’t count.
Damn it, Naruto. Keep your shirt on. Are you trying to get Sai to jump you? Judging by the way you’re kissing him, I think you’re going to jump him. Have you always been like this?
No, I am not crying. My eyes are just red because I rubbed them too hard, trying to erase the scene in front of me. I’m going to have to kill that bastard too, aren’t I?
Garaa? Do you have a pale skin fetish or something? He surrounded you two in that sand of his, so I can’t see you. But I can hear you. I can hear the way you moan out his name. This is too much.
Alright, I’ll admit it. I’m crying. Why am I crying? Because I love you and it hurts to see you with someone else. The worse part about it is that you are in the light, so there is no hole for me to fill.
You are alone now. Good. “Naruto, I love you.”
“It’s too late, Sasuke. Now that you’re out of my life, I have people who would hesitate to tell me how they feel, and accept that I feel the same way towards them.”
To add insult to injury, the three pale bastards from earlier are now standing around you, smirking in victory.
I began to sob.
*****
Itachi hadn’t been able to sleep. All he could see were images of his dead clan and the look on Sasuke’s face as Itachi told him it was his fault. Therefore he was awake when he heard sobbing coming from the room across the hall.
Deciding it was time to start playing big brother again, Itachi walk over. “Sasuke? Otouto, what’s wrong?” The boy was still asleep. Itachi knelt next to him and shook his shoulder. “Sasuke, wake up!”
Sasuke’s eyes shot open. “A…Aniki?” The boy’s frame was shaking.
“Otouto, what’s wrong?”
Sasuke reached out and clung to Itachi, burying his face in the elder’s neck. His sobs got worse. Itachi rubbed his back in soothing circles. “He hates me,” Sasuke said in a weak, muffled voice.
“What?”
“Na..Naruto. (sniff) I didn’t tell him how I felt soon enough. (sob) Now he’s with…with..(short fit of hard crying) with Neji, Sai, and Garaa. (some more crying) Aniki, what am I going to do?”
“First, you’re going to get some sleep and calm down. We can talk more in the morning.” When Sasuke didn’t move, Itachi stood up and laid them both on Sasuke’s bed. It was a little difficult to get his brother tucked under his chin like he used to do when Sasuke had nightmares as a kid, but he managed.
They both managed a night free of nightmares.
