*~*~*~*

He was so amazingly happy! He was starting a new job that paid amazingly well and he couldn’t wait until he got to work. It was in a new building, under the Uchiha line of buildings and was currently run by Itachi Uchiha. Naruto himself was working as the man’s new receptionist, and it was a job he was looking forward to since it included some heavy amounts of money as pay.

Humming happily, backpack on his back and wearing a pair of black slacks with a simple gray shirt that was his work clothes, Naruto barely noticed the fact that a long, old style hearse had started to drive next to him at the same pace that he had set walking. Looking out of the corner of his blue eyes, he frowned to himself, pink lips pressing together and whiskered cheeks twitching. He was suddenly feeling very nervous about what was going to happen in the next few moments.

When the driver lent over and looked out of the window, Naruto had to bite back an squeal of surprise at seeing the man. With skin so pale it actually had a bluish tint to it and matching blue hair, the guy’s eyes seemed like nothing more than black dots, scarring on the side of his neck looking like gills. There was something about the sharp tooth grin that sent fear skittering down his back.

When the driver called out, it was in a deep voice that rasped like a scale knife over a fish’s scales. “Do ya need a lift?” he asked. Naruto shook his head, quickly even as the man pointed over one shoulder with a thumb to the back where a coffin rested. “Ya sure? I have room for one more,” he drawled.

“I’m good, thank you,” Naruto stuttered out before deciding that he could run the rest of the way to work and not looked the least bit mussed up. Once at work, he headed up to the ninth floor where he worked, mind often times going back to the creepy man and the hearse. He sighed happily when he was finally able to clock out for the day and head for the bank of elevators that would take him down to the first floor.

When the elevator got to his floor, he noted that it was looking kind of on the full side, making him hesitate before going to step in. It was then that the voice that had been following that morning called out, “Are you sure you don’t want to come on it? There’s room for one more.”

Squeaking, Naruto shook his head, blond hair flying down to lay in his face. “No, I’m good. I’ll take the the stairs,” he got out, backing away as he stared at the blue male from that morning. The man just smiled that sharp toothed smile as the doors closed, making his shudder.

Turning to the stairs, he sighed and started down them, only getting down a few of them before a horrible screech reached his ears followed by screams and a deafening crash that came from the elevator shaft. Swallowing, he practically ran down the stairs only to find that the elevator was being pried open by two of the security guards.

He caught the end of their conversation and swallowed heavily at the thought that he had dodged a bullet. Apparently the elevator cable, which had been changed out the week before, had snapped, sending his fellow co-workers to their grisly death, Naruto getting away only because of the man he had met and who had freaked him out.
