Unfinished Business
Hey everyone! For those of you who have read my fic Inside on the Outside, this is the sequel or conclusion story. I don’t think it will be as lengthy but I think you will definitely enjoy it. We pick up in the month of November, remember that Kurenai had invited Kakashi and Anko on a trip to the mountains. I hope you like it and thanx to everyone for your support!
I don’t own Naruto, any of it’s characters nor do I profit from my fics.
It was mid November, Kakashi and Anko had spent the entire afternoon trying to pack for the trip to the mountains. Their destination was a very large rustic home high in a northern mountain town. The house actually partially belonged to Asuma’s parents; they rented it out for a portion of the year. Kurenai had already been there but Asuma’s parents needed for someone to finish out the rent on the place for the month of November; it was already paid for some someone needed to stay there. So, Kurenai had gotten Anko, Kakashi, Iruka, Gai, Hayate, Shizune and Genma to commit to one week in the mountains.
It was wonderful, the time off. Kakashi had been on 2 missions, not stressful but time consuming. Anko had been slammed with paperwork and getting the newly appointed chuunins ready for their more intense training. Iruka had been busy with the beginners and he was ready to smash his head against his desk because they were a wild bunch, however he couldn’t help but love them. Shizune had been working herself to death for Hokage Tsunade and was worn out. All and all everyone was more than looking forward for this trip. No academy. No deadlines. No papers to grade. Just friends, the mountains and a whole lot of alcohol…
Anko and Kakashi weren’t the best travel planners in the world. Currently, the living room was a wreck with different sized suitcases because they couldn’t decide how big or small they should go. The bedroom looked like a category 5 hurricane had passed through because there were clothes stung out everywhere and absolutely no sign of making progress. There were just massive piles all over the bed and the floor, and the dresser.
The bathroom was just as bad because there were piles of towels everywhere ( they weren’t certain if the house had any) and everything from shampoo to Anko’s new birth control pills was cluttered across the bathroom sinks’ countertop.
To top everything off, Anko was ready to knock Pakkun’s teeth out…Kakashi had summoned him to see how much he would drive Anko crazy….much to his delight it was working because Pakkun kept following her around everywhere and then disagreeing with everything she wanted to pack (yes, remember Pakkun can talk). Then he would lay in the middle of something which would piss her off even more and she would freak out and run it to the washer. Finally…she threw him outside and locked the doors. Every time he came around to the back sliding glass door on the bedroom and bark, she would close the curtain. Kakashi thought this was hysterical. Anko took a deep breath.
“Okay, you know what? We’re not very good at packing shit….are we?” she asked looking at the mass before her.
“Are you going to leave my little dog outside?” Kakashi begged her.
“You’re going to be outside with that damn dog in about 2 minutes.” She loved making comments like that, because she knew Kakashi never took her seriously.
“No…we’re really terrible packers.” Kakashi said putting his hands on her shoulders. They looked at what was in the suitcase…Come Come Paradise Volume 14 and a bottle of Vodka…things were looking a little grim at this point. They weren’t certain where to start with the packing except they did have a large amount of alcohol sitting in the living room and it was packed. Everyone was responsible for a certain part of the alcohol, for Anko and Kakashi their duty was hard liquor, Iruka had the beer, Asuma and Kurenai had mixers, Shizune and Hayate were bringing malt beverages, Gai had jello for jello shots, and Genma was responsible for wine. Yes, it was going to be a very alcoholic week in the mountains.
“Alright, how about you pack things that you want to take and I’ll pack things I think I should take?” Kakashi suggested…why this thought didn’t occur to either of them earlier was a mystery.
“Oh that’s a good idea!” Anko said and she headed for her lingerie drawer spite the fact that is was November; Anko was going to pack everything slutty she could think of. Now they were making some progress, Kakashi was sorting though all the clothes on the bed determining what was his and what he wanted to take.
After 2 hours of continuous and successful packing, all the luggage was sitting by the door ready to leave for the mountains the next day. Kakashi paced around a little in the kitchen as Anko double checked everything to make certain they had all the suitcases ready for the trip.
“Um…Anko?” he finally said to her.
“Yeah.” She was trying to tightly secure one of the suitcases.
“Do you….well…do you think that sometimes maybe people are meant to be together?” he asked her. Anko thought a moment.
“Oh my god! Are you talking about Asuma and Kurenai? Do you think….you know?” Anko asked grinning. That wasn’t what he wanted her to say.
“Do I think what?”
“Asuma didn’t tell you?
“Apparently not.” Kakashi said knowing that this conversation had gone in a completely different direction than what he wanted. It was okay, though.
“Kurenai might be pregnant, but she doesn’t know yet.” Anko said.
“No way. Really? Are you serious? I had no idea. You’re serious?” Kakashi was surprised.
“Yep. But it’s still too soon for her to know. We’ll all know for sure once we’re in the mountains. She’s taking a pregnancy test while we are there.”
“How did this happen? Kakashi asked.
“Well, let’s recap….first the guy…” Kakashi laughed at her.
“Oh hush, not that!” he said.
“Oh, that. I don’t know. Ask the broken condom, or the lack of one.” Anko had such a way with words…Now, they were both tired from packing all afternoon it was time to unwind on the couch with whatever Kakashi found in the refrigerator to stick in the microwave.
