Final Recognition
It was three in the morning, and several miles North of Konoha village, the Inuzuka vetenary research clinic’s skylight shattered. Before the shards of glass had settled on the floor, three shadowy figures landed almost silently in the centre of the room.
Using the light of the almost full moon to guide them, they rummaged in the draws until one of them found what they were looking for. A storm cloud drifting across the sky, promising rain, snuffed out the moonlight. When it passed, moonlight spilled into an empty room.

At quarter past seven later that morning the fifth Hokage, Tsunade, received a messenger with a report warranting her attention. Reading it swiftly, she issued an order to the messenger to summon rookie team eight to her office, and as an afterthought, Uzumaki Naruto.
Fortunately at that moment in time team eight, Aburume Shino, Inuzuka Kiba, and Hyuuga Hinata, had scheduled training for that morning, and as such were all assembled and fully equipped in Tsunade’s office before nine thirty.
“Team eight.” The Fifth Hokage began, “I have just received an urgent report from the Inuzuka research facility,” hearing these words, Kiba tensed, as did Akamaru, Kiba’s canine companion, who currently was residing inside Kiba’s jacket.
“What happened? Is my sister okay?” Kiba interrupted Tsunade.
“No-one was harmed, Kiba-kun.” Tsunade replied gently, before continuing. “It appears that some confidential research material was stolen along with a serum recently developed in the clinic. I have been informed that if the items stolen reach another shinobi village, it would cause serious problems for our own village. Ordinarily I would send a team of Jounins, however, due to the current weakness of Konoha, all I can afford to send are you.” She smiled. “Although based on your mission record I expect you to excel. This is an A rank mission, and I am appointing Inuzuka Kiba to mission leader. Your orders are as follows: to track down the thieves and retrieve the research materials and serum. By whatever means necessary. I am also assigning Uzumaki Naruto to your team to assist you, as he isn’t on a mission, and he has worked well with you in the past.”
At this Kiba sighed a little, and Hinata blushed. “Time is wasting.” Kiba announced. “Let’s go!”
It was at this moment that a flash of orange entered the room, Uzumaki Naruto in all his glory. “I was having a really good dream Tsunade-baachan, why did you make that guy wake me up?”
Tsunade’s eyebrow twitched a little, “You will be leaving with team eight now. You will be informed on the way.”
Naruto was about to complain when he realised everyone was leaving without him, and so hurried after them.
Naruto called to Shino “What’s going on?” as they sped down the main street that led to the giant Konoha gates. Although he was running, somehow Shino managed to shrug. “This is Kiba’s mission, ask him.”
Without waiting to be asked, Kiba called back, “It looks like some stupid ninjas broke into my family’s research clinic and stole some of our stuff. The Fifth has sent us to get it back.”
A glimmer of ambition went into Naruto’s eyes. “And Tsunade-baachan wanted me to help because I’m such a great ninja! Right? Right?”
Kiba smiled and looked over his shoulder at the blonde ninja following him. “Actually she said it was only because you weren’t busy.”
“Damn it!” Naruto swore loudly
Hinata blushed deeply and almost whispered. “Tsunade also said you work well with us Naruto-kun.”
This made Naruto smile, as they dashed North, further into the forest.
