Dangerous Obession
This is my first fic, so once you’re done reading give me some constructive critism, k? Anyway, this is going to be a Sasuke/Hinata/Itachi fic, so if you don’t like the pairing then I suggest that you don’t read. Also let me know if I spelled someone’s name wrong, I’m not sure if I did and I’m currently too lazy to check. :P
Disclamer: I don’t own Naruto and the plot is from Sandra Brown’s book The Crush.
Prologue:
Shizune couldn’t believe it when her cellphone began to ring shortly after three in the morning. If it wasn’t for the fact that she suffered from a light case of insomnia she probably wouldn’t even be awake this late, or early, depending on how one looked at it. Despite this, she was awake and therefore was obligated to answer the cellphone. With a loud annoyed sigh she stalked over to the old antique coffee table. Her silver and pink cellphone laid there vibrating against the wood as its annoying ring continued to escalate in sound, demanding that Shizune give it immediate attention. Suddenly her hand shot out and flipped open the phone as she pressed it to her ear.
“Hello,” her voice sounded clipped and frustrated even to her own ears. Sighing silently she rubbed her temple with her free hand. Her various nights of little or no sleep were catching up to her, she was even snapping at people on the phone. She tried to console herself by reasoning that it was the person on the other end of the line’s fault for calling her at this ungodly hour.
“Dr. Shizune? May I speak to Dr. Shizune?”
Shizune frowned at the phone as she pulled it away from her ear. Who the hell was this? She had never before in her life heard a voice like the one that had just asked for her. Hell, it sounded so weird she wouldn’t be surprised to learn that the person was using some kind of jutsu to conceal their voice, nevermind why they were concealing it. Shaking her head she brought the phone back to her ear. She wouldn’t hang up just yet; there was always the chance that this was a real emergency call and not some prank being performed by young kids with too much time on their hands and nothing to do.
“Yes, this is she. May I ask who is speaking?”
“This is a receptionist from Konoha Hospital. I’m calling because there’s been an accident involving a bomb near the training fields and several nin were hurt. The hospital is overwhelmed and we’re calling all medic nins in.”
Shizune frowned again. She hadn’t heard an explosion and she lived close enough to the training grounds that she should have heard it with her acute hearing. However, just as she was about to inform the operator that she had made a mistake Shizune heard the distinct sound of a group of ninjas hurrying in the direction of the hospital. The fact that they weren’t doing much to mask their traveling convinced Shizune that what the receptionist was telling her was true. Sighing yet again she warily glanced at the clock on the wall as she wondered how quickly she could get to the hospital.
“Dr. Shizune? Are you still there?”
“I’ll be there in about three minutes.”
With that Shizune shut the phone and began to run around her small, yet impeccably clean apartment. After grabbing her id and basic personal medical equipment she rushed out of her apartment door, sorely sorry to have to report for work so early, or late, in the day. As she raced across the rooftops in Konoha she couldn’t help but think that the village was awfully quiet for an explosion to have occurred, even if it was just in the training fields. She ignored her thoughts, however, as the hospital came in site. She quickly shoved her id in the young teen’s face before passing by him without giving him her usual wave and smile.
Before heading into the hospital stepped into the equipment shed to get changed into her scrubs and lab coat.

Kankuro loved his job as the night guard at Konoha Hospital. Even more than that he loved the fact that he watched over the area around the equipment shed. It was this area that hardly ever received any visitors, since the staff of the hospital only came here to sometimes change and grabbed equipment that wasn’t stored inside the hospital. All in all working here meant that he didn’t have to see a lot of people, which was exactly why he loved the area he watched over.
His sister, Temari, had one more than one occasion told him that he loved his job a bit too much. She thought that they work he did was creepy, with only his nasty books and his puppet to keep him company. Despite of what she thought he liked the fact that those two things were the only things that kept him company, people were such a hassle to deal with. Not only were most people rude, but they also had a habit of talking more to the paint on his face than to him. So, naturally he had decided that he didn’t want to be around people. After all who wanted to be around people that thought that they were crazy?
A sharp knock on the glass of the security shack made him look up from his smut book. He was somewhat surprised to see Dr. Shizune standing on the other side of the glass. Before he had time to greet her, though, she shoved her id to the window and stalked off towards the shed. Stunned it took Kankuro a while to realize just what had happened and once he did he frowned. Dr. Shizune was actually on of the nicest people he had ever known. She was the only one who looked him in the eye while she spoke with him and she also made a point of greeting him with a smile and a waved. To be honest he even had a slight crush on her, if you could consider jacking off to her image, preferably naked, having a crush on someone.
A quick glance at the small digital clock in the shack gave him a clue as to why Dr. Shizune was in a rather rude mood. Most likely she was pissed at having to come to work so early in the morning, he knew from experience that she was not a morning person. With a shrug he happily returned his attention to the book he had been reading. His reading was once again interrupted, though this time he had interrupted himself. Shouldn’t Dr. Shizune have passed him by now to walk around to the front of the hospital?
Frowning Kankuro stood up and exited the security shack. He quickly made his way to the shed, trying to cover most of his face with his hood as he did. Even Dr. Shizune shouldn’t have to gaze upon his painted face for longer than necessary. As he entered the shack he switched on the flashlight that he kept with him at all times.
“Dr. Shizune?”
His voice seemed to echo throughout the small shed as he slowly made his way through it. He wondered why she didn’t answer him back? She wouldn’t like it if he accidentally walked in on her changing, would she? Shaking his head Kankuro sighed. Maybe he had simply been too absorbed in his book to notice her walking past his shack. Temari had always said that he paid way too much attention to the smutty books, to the point where he seemed completely oblivious to his surroundings. Deciding that he had indeed simply missed Dr. Shizune passing him, Kankuro was completely ready and prepared to walk out of the shed when he saw it. It being the lifeless hand of Dr. Shizune…
