Chapter 01

---

It had been his shopping day in the town closest to the caverns, which he lived with the other members of the notorious band of missing nin called the Akatsuki. He was running back to the caves with two tickets in his hand, forgetting the grocery bags back at the village, where he had won the tickets. Going into the cavern, he danced and twirled, dodging all the tricks and traps to keep out door-to-door salesmen and Girl guides selling cookies. They usually found the cookies later on the dead bodies and took them, without paying.

Never the less, the orange masked Akatsuki was very excited as he found the hidden rock in the dead end of the cavern. Pushing the button, the door lifted to reveal a cozy looking living area that was complete with all the comforts of living in a normal western style home. The wallpaper was red with white swirling clouds and the ground was tiled black with the white outlined Akatsuki cloud.

There was a big screen TV as well as a couch, a love seat and an armchair, all black with the Akatsuki emblem sewn into the fabric. A few of the members were out on missions, however… Kakuzu, who was known for being very frugal, looked up from his romance novel, called ‘The Eclipse of the Heart’ as the orange masked member came in and spun around three times looking for blonde hair.

“Tobi, where the hell are the groceries?” However, Tobi was already gone out of sight into another room, the room in which Deidara made most of his bombs for battle as well as for his ‘art’. Tobi never saw past Deidara’s philosophy on what art was but he never commented about it because as Tobi knew, it would result in being blown up.

“Deidara-sempai! Deidara-sempai!” He cried as he opened the door to go in… only to be blown back out of the entrance with clay all over him. Getting up, and picking up his orange mask to quickly put it back onto his face before anyone could see his heavily scarred face. Adjusting his mask, Tobi look up to see a very anger looking Deidara coming out of the room. He had clay in his tied up blonde hair and was wearing his tank top with a fish net top over his stomach, which was not exposed but you could still see it. He wore standard nin pants with wrappings down his legs and standard sandals.

“Tobi… what have I told you about coming into this room…un?”
Tobi looked down like a kicked puppy as he replied. “I’m to never go in that room, ever… not in a million years.”
Deidara nodded as he crossed his arms. “Yeah, now what did you want, un?” He asked looking down at the goofy Akatsuki member, wondering how on earth someone like this could ever get into an organization like this. He hated Sasori-no-danna for dying and leaving him with this moron. Sasori was probably in hell laughing his puppet ass off saying. “Pay back is a bitch.” However, this did not mean that he did not miss his Danna, although he would never admit it.

Tobi looked down at the two tickets that were right under Deidara-sempai. He pointed with his gloved hand. “I won those…” He said as he slowly got up and dusted himself off. He watched as Deidara bent down to grab the two tickets.

“What’s this, un?” He read it quietly before reading it outloud. “A three day paid trip for two to the beautiful hot springs resort in Tsuchi no Kuni, known for their hot springs...un” Deidara read the back as well. Everything was free, food, accommodations and there was even a guided tour.

“Wait… you want me and you to go?” The blonde asked the orange masked fool.
Tobi nodded. “Uh huh… won’t it be fun, Deidara-sempai? We’ll get to know each other because I don’t think you like me… and well, this is a perfect way to get to know each other.”

Deidara dismissed it. “We’re not going, un.” He said as he walked back into his bomb lab.
“B-b-but… I need to take someone and I want to take y---“ He was cut off by the door slam as he realized what happen and pouted under his mask.

On the other side of the Door, Deidara still had the tickets in his hand as he thought it over. ‘Tobi is probably waiting for me right out the door… I haven’t been to a hot spring since I was exiled from the Hidden Rock… maybe it won’t be that bad and it’s not I’m going to be in my old village, un.’ He tapped his chin as he thought to himself as he was thinking about the possibility about going. Finally, he opened the door after a few moments.

As expected, Tobi was standing there as if he was a dog pawing at the door to be open. Deidara sighed before saying to the masked fool. “Fine… we’ll go, un.” As expected, if he had been able to see Tobi’s eyes, they would be lit up as he started running around in circles at his extreme joy. The blonde watched with amusement and slight disapproval.
“Tobi…un?”
Tobi, whom was bouncing off the walls, bounced over to his sempai. “What, Deidara-sempai?” The orange masked fool was rolling on the balls of his feet. If you had seen his face, you would see he was beaming.

Deidara was going to say something rude but he couldn’t bring himself to do it at that moment. “Whatever, un… just go get ready or something,un…” He muttered. “I’m going to pack too…” Deidara liked hot springs the last one he had been to was back about 9 years when he was exiled from the Hidden Rock. He went to his room, which he had to share with his idiot of a partner so that he could pack all the things that he would need. Most hot springs had towels, yakatas, etc. so Deidara only packed a small travel bag along with a large amount of clay just in case.

He did not notice what Tobi was packing and honestly did not care since Tobi was old enough to know at least what to bring to a hot springs. He was also the person who would have to inform the Leader on their sudden free vacation. He hated the Leader sometimes because he never knew what he would decide on what the members were allowed and not allowed to do.

However, he knew that he would have to ask for the permission to go to the hot springs trip. The blonde remembered back when Sasori-no-danna pushed him into the Leader-sama’s room not four years before awhile Leader-sama and the mysterious blue haired member were having a rather intimate moment.

Knocking on the door of the ‘dark and shadowy’ room as it was named as such and even had a sign proclaiming that it was in fact the Dark and Shadowy room, Deidara waited for a reply before entering. After a moment, there was a reply. “Come in.” The voice was deep indicating that it was the Leader. “Leader-sama, un.”

“What is it, Deidara?” The glowing red eyes appeared saying that the Leader was there and listening. The other unknown member was also in the room as well. The blonde Akatsuki member spoke up. “Leader-sama, I request that both myself and Tobi be allowed to go to Iwagakure on important matters, un…” He started.

“What important matters?” Leader-sama asked in a stern voice.

“Ah, well… I have gotten word th-” Deidara started before being cut off.
“Deidara, do I look like a fool?”
“No, un.”

“Then stop with the half ass excuse, I know that Tobi won tickets to a hot spring.”
“But how di-“ He was cut off again.
“I know all…” He said loudly. “You both may go but… I want you to bring back some souvenirs.” Leader-sama demanded as Deidara blinked at the pair of red eyes. He did not know if he wanted to believe it but he was happy none the less that Leader-sama was allowing the two to go to Iwagakure. “Thank you, Leader-sama… un.”

He said this before walking out of the dark and shadowy room to go and check on how Tobi was doing on the packing of his own things. Walking into the living room, Deidara saw Tobi standing there, supposedly ready to go, he was wearing his Akatsuki robe but he had on a pair of flippers and sunglasses as well as a floaty dolphin under his arm with a backpack on his back. “Deidara-sempai, I’m ready.”

“Tobi! You idiot! We are going to a hot springs… not the beach, un!” Deidara face-palmed himself as his orange masked partner looked like he was pouting. Deidara wouldn’t know because Tobi had on the ridiculous mask. “But, Sempai… I wanted to smash the watermelon with the bat!”

“Go… put that shit away, all you need is a bathrobe, a towel and a few other things for traveling and site seeing, un!” The blonde was rubbing his temple wondering how the hell was he going to survive with this idiot. At least they would be at a hot spring resort; maybe he would be able to ignore the moron. Getting his straw hat, Deidara placed it firmly on his head as he already had his clay pouch around his waist with a few other things that might be needed in the pockets on the inside of his cloak. The tickets were also in a safe spot in his robe.

Tobi was ready within about ten minutes as the pair started off towards the exit of the cavern. They easily passed all of the traps, passing by the bodies of the few unfortunate souls that had wandered into the caves. Tobi even found an entire box of Girl Guide cookies from one of the bodies as he picked it up and lifted it into the air in a happy dance. However, an arrow from one of the traps hit the box and made it fly into the stone wall.

Tobi never got the cookies. After the journey through the caves, both walked into the warm sunlight of the mid-afternoon. Deidara was already prepared with an clay figure of a hawk as his handmouth stuck out its tongue and the bird popped out.

Tossing it into the air, Deidara focused his charka so that the bird exploded into a cloud of dust to reveal the same bird but much bigger. The blonde hopped onto the large clay hawk as he waited for his fidgeting partner. “Deidara-sempai, can’t we walk… I hate flying.”

“No, you moron… it’s much too far to walk, un.”
“But…”
“Get on the fucking bird now, un.”
“Uh, okay Deidara-sempai.” Tobi said as he scrambled up on the large bird knowing full well that he was not going to enjoy this flight.

While Deidara could easily fly around as he stood up, Tobi had to hang on for dear life because the blonde was accustom to doing tricks, such as flips and rolls during the flight. Tobi hated barrel rolls for this very reason.

---

The flight seemed like forever to orange masked Akatsuki, whom was feeling rather ill. Deidara, on the other hand seemed to be in a good mood. He was almost always like that after a flight; to the blonde… he loved the freedom of being in flight. It was so uplifting.

They had landed in a forest, not far from the hot springs resort. It was not in Iwagakure but it was still pretty close that it was a hot spot for the shinobi of the village to go there on vacation. Deidara, however was not a missing nin. He had been exiled from the village, there was nothing saying that he was not allowed in the Land of the Earth.

The pair were walking through the odd looking forest were the mushrooms were as big as trees. There were many rock ledges as well as tall trees in which the roots were mostly above the ground. There was something about this forest that seemed to make the orange masked ninja stop.

Tobi knew that he had been there before. It was as if a few flashes came back to him, before they were gone. Tobi never remembered anything from before about fifteen years ago when Zetsu had found him, he couldn’t even remember how the tall plant-like man found him but something about this place told him that he had been there before he met Zetsu-san.

The clay artist was walking ahead as he noticed that Tobi was not beside him. Turning himself around, Deidara saw the screwball being completely calm and quiet as if he was looking around the forest in ah and wonder. “Tobi-kun, what are you doing, un?” The blonde asked him with one of his hands on his hip, tapping his foot waiting for the idiot to snap out of the little stupid daydream that he was having.

Looking back at his sempai, Tobi blinked from under his mask. “Oh, sorry Deidara-sempai!” He said as he started running over to Deidara before tripping over a root on the ground and falling face first into the hard wood of another tree root. “Oopsie!” He said as he felt his mask had fallen off of his face.

He scrambled to find it as his gloved hands patted the ground in a rush. He did not want anyone to see his heavily scarred face, especially someone who was as pretty as his sempai. He saw the mask under an uplifted root as he reached his hand to get it.

Much to Tobi’s horror, it was not his whole mask… it was only half of it as he saw the other half was beside him. What was he going to do? There was no way of fixing it. His dark bangs were hanging in his face trying to hide himself from his very pretty partner.

“Tobi, what the hell is the hold up, un?” Deidara said as he saw that Tobi had fallen but had turned away to shake his head in disbelief at the situation. However, Tobi was being much too slow and Deidara was impatient, he wanted to go and relax in the hot mineral water. Marching over to his partner, Deidara looked down with a frown across his lips. “Hurry up, un.” He stopped in front of Tobi as the boy was holding up his mask for his sempai to see.

Something that Deidara had been curious over was why Tobi wore the mask, he always thought it best not to ask about the boy’s goofy looking mask. “You broke your mask, un.” He said with an eye roll. “Is that all, Come on, I want to get to the hot spring, un.”

Tobi did not look up. “Sempai, I want to go back… and get my mask fixed as soon as possible.” He said in a quiet and serious voice. Something that was not normal for Tobi. The blonde tapped his foot before impatiently grabbing the boy by the arm and pulling him up against his will. “No, Sempai… I don’t want anyone to see my face… we need to get back before…” Tobi pleaded as Deidara was pulling him up with all his might. “What’s so bad about not having your-…un!” Deidara cut himself off as he saw what was behind the mask, he could not believe it.

Hi, This is Flaming Ryoko with a fanfiction. Something that I haven’t done in a really long time, this is going to be a Deidara/Tobi because the pairing is really cute. I do plan on writing a Sasori/Deidara one… if I ever finish this one. And knowing Myself and my procrastination, it won’t happen. Still, Read and Review.

And yes, this is Yaoi. I know… Crazy for someone who use to loathe most yaoi but… I love Deidara too much to care if he’s a female or a male.

Anyways, Enjoy. <3
