Leap of Faith

This is truly a Leap of Faith, not even I know where it will end. This will stick close to the bones of the manga, but I shall invent my own conclusions that will radically differ to the original. The Great Three are waking.

AN: Hello there, this is my first fiction and feedback on the writing style, any suggestions, or anything you didn't like, would be appreciated. This is ongoing and I really don't know where it's heading, this is a journey we will hopefully be taking together. This fic will be sasunaru, but it may take some time to reach that stage.
I don’t like shirking on the details, and there will most likely be things included in this fic that may trouble some people (there are already some points spinning in my mind), but I hope you understand that it is for the story so don’t take it to heart ^_^ baby eating!
Updates will be patchy; it'll be whenever inspiration comes knocking.

Prologue

Why do you ask me a favour little cousin. Is it that difficult?
It’s exhausting; there is no time for slumber. The brat needs to be watched whether he’s on a mission or in the den.
Oh? And don’t you get to rest my dear? I wouldn’t be fair otherwise.
The villagers know, but don’t understand.
Those are normal humans, what danger do they present?
He won’t kill them.
Pfft! Poor, poor Kyuubi! Have these dreadful foes attacked before?
Not to a great extent.
Oh? Ah! You mean mental attacks and bouts of anguish! So sweet.
Almost seventeen years…
Seventeen? You act as though that’s a great amount of time!
Through the eyes of a human, it is.
Well, what is it you’re proposing?
A switch.
Why would I want to do that little one? I’m quite cosy here.
Because you’re bored.
No cousin, it’s a little hard to be bored while asleep. Now leave before I get annoyed.
Please Great One, I thought under the circumstances you would want to do this. Forgive me.
Do not talk in riddles at me. What could I want?
You don’t know? The clan’s all but extinct, only two remain: a traitorous boy and an impure child. And you have not yet fulfilled your promise to the Great One.
It would seem my cousin, that I do want this. Until my promise to Elder Sister is fulfilled we shall exchange places. Enjoy your rest; you did well to inform me of this.
Thank you Great One.
Tell me, why traitor and impure?
The traitor is the murderer of the clan, and the other is in the grip of a snake.
A murderer and a Snake? That is all I have to work with?
Yes, Great One.
Leave it to me.

The snarls of fury thundered through the night.

Huh? Who are these guys? Naruto glanced at the blank faces all around him. They moved sloth like across a bare grid of metal pipes, shuffling their feet and scattering flakes of rust as they went. Worry began to grip him, what would they do if they realised he was different? To try and fool them he began to move as they did with his arms bent as though carrying a precious box.
It got suddenly dark, and the blonde looked to where the only light was coming from: above. Flakes of rust flittered down from the pipes high above, and it occurred to him that he no longer stood upon them, but on rocky ground. The light was so weak that Naruto dared not move in case he stood on the edge of a precipice. The light flickered out, returning moments later. Now the odd people were gone, but their blood rained down discolouring the blonde boy’s hair. It was transfixing to him, falling straight and true like red rain.
A scrapping sound from ahead drew Naruto’s attention. Fear gripped him as his eyes met a single great eye. His immediate thought was that Sasuke was before him, but as the fear abruptly drained he realised that this couldn’t be the renegade friend; this eye was larger than he himself was tall. The eye regarded him with twinkling mirth, while all he could do was gape at it in awe. As he stared, the differences between this eye and the Sharingan became evident. The Sharingan had three black fleck-comma like-marks pointing away from a jet black pupil that floated in a red sea of an iris. This eye was different yet strangely similar; it still had the deep black pupil, but that was rimmed in crimson. It even had crimson comma-like marks, which sat connected with the iris’s ring, which had their own small black cores. The eye had no white and instead was entirely yellow and black which made it meld into the deep darkness all around. It appeared as though the yellow ring was inert and simply floating with him in the abyss.
But Naruto could feel it looking at him.
The yellow ring wobbled, and slowly another identical ring was revealed beside it. The moment both eyes settled on him he felt their weight. When the creature grinned revealing jaws of gleaming fangs the boy’s entire body stiffened.
Then it moved forward into the light.
A huge, heavily clawed paw stepped from the shadows the fur shinning like moonlight. The beast emerged as a great wolf, towering above Naruto blocking out the feeble light, and all the while staring down and still grinning. Then it leapt, and Naruto couldn’t think let alone run out of its way.
The first tip of a massive claw struck him in the stomach; he stumbled back as it burned through his clothes to the seal beneath. The entire wolf turned into fire and rushed through the seal, the flames licked at his chest and lashed at the air until the Wolf was fully submerged within him. Its tail gave a last blinding whip before everything went quiet.
Naruto was lying unconscious on the rocky floor totally unaware as the seal began to vanish from his bared stomach. Once it was completely erased a paw print began pressing against his skin, more, and more lumps began pressing furiously against him and stretched his skin to unbelievable lengths. Naruto’s face remained serene, still completely oblivious. The creature inside him managed to push itself half way out of his body before the skin finally split, and with a flash of flames the Kyuubi launched itself completely out of Naruto’s body. It landed on the rocky ground in a heap, all nine tails quivering in excitement, and embarrassment, at finally being free of the damn boy, but landing so unceremoniously in front of a Great One. And the Kyuubi knew the Great One was watching, the Great One was always watching. Deep chuckles were rolling from the Kyuubi’s former host’s lips, and the fox watched warily as the boy rose from the ground. Naruto didn’t look that different, taking into consideration the huge change that had just occurred without the boy’s knowledge. In fact, the only thing that was different was his eyes. The eyes were no longer the red slits that showed the fox demon was active, but the odd yellow and black eyes of the Wolf.
“What is it little cousin, missing him already?” The Wolf sneered at the Kyuubi with Naruto’s lips. The demon fox couldn’t bare to be disgraced in front of the Wolf again, so he bounded away into the shadows to where the Wolf’s Resting Place lay.
Now Kyuubi could finally rest, and dream of reeking havoc on the world again.

Hope you liked the Prologue. I'm looking for someone to beta, so if you'd like to help just say so in a review and I'll let you know if it's you ^_^
