Author's Note: First Naruto yaoi story. Kakashi x Iruka. This will be AU. It will be rated M for late and graphic sex. The books mentioned within are not real, I just made them up. Hope it doesn't feel rushed as there is no sex in this part at all. I must thank Samurai Smee for giving me the idea and encouragement and putting up with me using class time to write it and finally getting around to typing. So I apologize if they are OOC or if there are any mistakes; this is AU after all and things are bound to change. Happy reading! Also posted to fanfiction.net

Part One

Iruka Umino straightened his short, spiky brown ponytail as he sighed and leaned against the counter. The manga book he had been holding, he set aside. He could only read it so many times.

It was the dead time of day in the bookstore he was manager of. He traced the scar on his nose as he debated on setting out more books from the back or not.

Deciding that idle hands were the devil’s advocate, he headed to the back and grabbed a stack that came just under his chin. He wished bitterly that Izumo or someone else had come in.

Kakashi Hatake stood in the isle that few dared to go down; the sexuality aisle. It never bothered him that people gave him strange looks or whispered. They should have.

His silver hair was a grey-silver color, even though he was under thirty. It had been that way for years. The lower portion of his face was kept covered by a mask, bandanna or scarf.

Not because he was scarred or a germaphobe, but he liked the way it felt and the attention it got. It also made him harder to track down and recognize.

His left eye was strangely bi-colored red and black with a scar running through the middle of it. The scar was from a car accident as a child that killed his best friend.

He flipped through the book on varying color illustrated sex positions. Most of the ones pictured he had either done or had heard of, only a few surprising him.

He picked up another, hoping it would 'wow' him. His sharp ears caught the faint sound of footsteps on thin carpet. Natural instinct should have kicked in and told him to hide the book, but it didn't.

Kakashi watched as a man, in probably his early twenties, passed the aisle he was on, carrying a stack of best-selling books.

The man was rather beautiful though, Kakashi noticed. His short brown ponytail kind of bounced as he moved, his arms toned and tanned showing through the black shirt he was wearing.

His body wasn't lithe, but he wasn't fat either. It was rather muscled and healthy, probably with smooth skin.

But it was the large scar across the bridge of his nose that Kakashi was drawn to. He was scarred, like Kakashi, but it was kind of cute.

Kakashi wasn’t flaming gay, but he what he liked in both sexes; just more of them happened to be men. Yes, he had slept with men over the years and even some women, but mostly people had to catch his eyes and strike his fancy.

This man did both. He appeared to be kind of innocent or naïve of the world and how it worked. Kakashi was drawn to him. He smirked under the mask. This man ‘wowed’ him.

Deciding to bide his time and let him return to the counter, he flipped through the book again. Lucky for him, the man in the pictures kind of resembled the manager.

Iruka brushed a few strands out of his face as he finished stacking the latest release of some crime series. He didn’t really pay a lot of attention to half of what they sold. He got off his hands and knees, heading back to the counter. He wasn’t sure if he had a customer or not.

He felt a little more satisfied with himself for stacking some books. He smiled at his own unusual laziness. He was hard worker, which is what had gotten him the job, unlike the other two men that worked with him.

He resumed his seat behind the counter, picking up the manga again, just in case a customer wanted to know if it was good or not.

Poor Iruka had the summer off from college. He was only a few semesters away from getting a teaching degree. He loved working with kids.

"Good series?" someone asked.

"Yeah, it's alright," Iruka answered automatically. It took a few seconds for it to sink in that he had a customer. He blushed a little, putting the book aside once again.

"Maybe I'll try it one day." Iruka found himself looking at a customer he had noticed earlier. He remembered Izumo's description of the mysterious "ninja-like" man that came in sometimes and hung out in one asile of the store.

Iruka couldn't stop himself from staring at the silver-haired customer, with his face cover and scar. His voice was smooth and lazy, even his body kind of slouched.

"Yeah, I recommend it," Iruka smiled, nodding. The man set down a few paperback books on the counter. "Will these be-" He picked up the very top one, his hands having trouble grabbing all of them at the same time. He noticed the title and the cover picture: The Art of Sexual Fantasy for Anal Sex, including a picture of a man on hands and knees, mouth wide open as another pounded into him. Blush stained his cheeks as he stammered "be-be all f-for you?" He didn’t dare look at the rest of them.

Kakashi kept this smirk hidden as he watched the young man stammer and blush. The other two that were usually in the store just picked them up like they were nothing, even commenting on the validity or something like “Oh yeah, that position is a rip off.”

"Yeah," Kakashi told him, leaning on the counter as he started to ring them up. Iruka could hardly type in the prices as he handled each one, the titles going on like 101 Myths and Facts About Anal Sex and Seme or Uke?: How to get the most out of top and bottom. He didn't even know they carried books of that nature.

"Okay," he said awkwardly.

"Pretty good books if you ask me. Had some positions and things I had never heard of."

“Oh?” The man wasn’t embarrassed at all by talking about them? Iruka knew he was blushing but he couldn’t stop. This man was so shameless.

“Mhm. Of course it helps that the pictures have someone as pretty as you.” Kakashi bit his tongue, trying not to laugh as manager Iruka blushed an even darker shade of red and avoided his gaze. “Manager Iruka Umino.”

“Thank you,” he said. This just wasn’t like him at all. He never stuttered or blushed or stammered. Of course, he never received compliments and certainly never from men. He didn’t even know why he said ‘thank you.’

“No problem.” Iruka dropped the books on the floor, having to crouch down and put them in a bag as he gave the price. Izumo would die for taking lunch early today.

When he stood back up, bag in hand, the money was already on the counter. He gave the bag to the pervert customer as he put the money away and started to make change, hoping the blush would leave.

“Here’s your change,” he said holding it out.

“Just keep it beautiful,” Kakashi said as he took Iruka’s hand and shut his fingers over the money. “I’ll be back for sure.”

“Thank you, c-come again,” Iruka told him, looking away. God what was wrong with him? The silver-haired man nodded as he let go of Iruka’s hand and left.

Iruka stood there in stunned silence; he could still feel the flush in his skin and the electricity shooting through his hand from the other man’s touch.

He fell back on the stool, his mouth agape. His mind was just rolling over blank, unable to think. He heard the back room’s door slam, signally that Izumo and Kotetsu were back.

They had worked with Iruka for a while. Izumo was brown headed and wore his choppy hair over one eye while Kotetsu was rocked black and spiky hair. They were always together and Iruka had to question if they were in a relationship or were just good friends. He decided it was good friends when they both brought in girls one night.

“Iruka, we brought you lunch!” Izumo shouted. He noticed his manager wasn’t moving. He hurried around the counter with Kotetsua on his heels. “Iruka? Iruka-sensei,” he teased. The other man shook his hand, feeling spacey.

“What?”

“What has you all flustered Iruka-sensei?” Izumo asked as he set the bag of food down.

“Was it a customer or did something happen like you realized that manga you’re reading is actually for kids?” Kotetsu laughed.

“Hey now, play nice,” Iruka said. He debated on spilling the information. He decided to chance it. “It was a customer.” Izumo and Kotetsu looked at each other, sharing a knowing glance.

“Oh, it was that customer,” Izumo started dramatically. “The pervert one. We should have warned you innocent Iruka-sensei that he likes to purchase dirty books.”

“He’s a regular then?”

“I guess,” Izumo shrugged. “Did something happen between you two? You have to touch his books?” Iruka glared for a few moments.

“No, nothing happened. I sold him some books.” He couldn’t control the blush as it spread across his face again.

“Right,” Izumo and Kotetsu rolled their eyes at the same time, dropping the matter.

That night, as Iruka was closing up the store, he passed by the aisle where Kakashi had picked up the books. Deciding to see what the man purchased, he ventured down, browsing the titles.

He ended up just walking by very quickly and closing up the store. No, he couldn’t bring himself to look at them. He headed to his car, manga in hand, and left for home.

Kakashi, on the other hand, was at home reading the books with an avid eye, thinking about a certain brown-haired manager and trying to come up with a plan.

X

Izumo and Kotetsu were gone during lunch again, leaving Iruka the store alone. He didn’t expect the silver-haired man to come back in the next day but he was there.

He had come in during the morning rush. Iruka was terribly nervous as he sat behind the counter. Protocol called for him to be up and asking if he needed help, but Iruka was afraid that help would turn into another blushing fest for him.

He couldn’t stop thinking about the mysterious man and his naughty books; it had plagued him right into sleep.

Gulping and trying to smile, he moved from behind the counter and to the row of books in a separate section of the store. He half hoped that the man had left. Coming around the corner, he found the man was still there.

“Do you need any help?” Iruka asked, tracing the scar on his nose as he tried not to look at the shelves.

“Well I could use some I guess,” he chuckled turning around to face Iruka. Today he had a black scarf coving the lower portion of his face. “What kind do you give?” he asked approaching Iruka, a slight sway to his hips.

“What do you mean?” he asked, gulping and keeping his friendly smile.

“Is it just with books or can it be with other things?” He was standing as close to Iruka as he could get without touching him.

“My job is to help, manager Iruka Umino at your service.”

“Iruka, cute. My name is Kakashi Hatake,” he said pulling the scarf down some, just under his perfect nose.

“Nice to meet you Kakashi,” Iruka bowed a little. “What would you like help with?”

“Hm, well there is this book I’m dying to read called Icha Icha Paradise,” he said. Iruka knew the one he spoke of. He blushed a little as he thought about it.

“We have that one. Follow me,” he said as he turned on his heel. It was one of the best sellers but he had made Izumo stock it. He could feel the man’s presence behind him, blushing as he wished he knew what he was focusing his attention on.

Kakashi smiled as he watched Iruka move along. His ass looked tight in the black slacks he was wearing, perfectly shaped. Kakashi wanted to know how it looked without clothes and with his-

“Would this be the book?” Iruka’s question interrupted his daydreaming and dirty thoughts. He held out an orange covered hardback.

Kakashi took the book from him, their fingers brushing for only a moment, but long enough for electricity to shoot through them. He flipped it open and looked through it. Out of the corner of his eyes, he could see Iruka trying not to fidget.

“Yes, this is the book, thank you.” He pulled the scarf down a little, watching Iruka’s face to see if he was interested in what was hidden from all eyes. Yes, he was interested.

“Just doing my job,” he smiled. “Will that be all?”

“No, not yet. Would you go on a date with me?” Kakashi asked. Iruka could almost see him smile. He stood there, slight shock moving through his system. No one had ever asked him out before.

“Well um-“

“I understand if it might be too forward, but I want to know more about you and I think it would be good. If you’re single that is. Someone as beautiful as you are must have someone.” Iruka found his cheeks stained almost permanently with blush.

“I don’t have anyone,” he said, “so I guess I could go on a date with you.” He put his finger on the tip of his nose, out of complete habit. Kakashi found the move adorable.

“Great then.” He followed Iruka back to the counter. They exchanged information and times before Kakashi paid for his book and left Iruka flustered again. Izumo didn’t even bother to ask this time.

X

“Can you two close the shop for me?” Iruka asked Friday night. Izumo and Kotetsu looked at him like he had grown another head.

“Yeah, we can. Where are you going?” Izumo asked as he set down the book he had been holding.

“I’m going out actually,” Iruka smiled.

“Oh, okay have fun,” Izumo smiled. He had no idea who Iruka was going out with.

Kakashi had come in the store everyday that week just to visit Iruka on his lunch breaks. It was nice, to have someone so interested in him. It had really boosted his self confidence.

“I’ll try,” he smiled widely as he left to head home and change. He was excited?

Iruka had never been sure which sex he liked more, though it often leaned more on guys. He, had of course, never voiced this information to anyone, as he was sure that no one would understand, except maybe now.

He couldn’t stop smiling though. He wasn’t really sure what he had gone home for. He didn’t feel he needed to anything special, except maybe change or something.

Iruka looked around for a better shirt, better than the dress one he had on. He figured casual would be fine enough. He was growing increasingly nervous with every minute that passed. It wasn’t like Kakashi was going to see his apartment or something.

They were going to meet in the lobby at seven. It was a quarter till, right then. Before Iruka could give himself any ideas of cancelling, he headed down stuffing his keys and hands into the pockets of his jeans. It wasn’t even dark outside yet.

The lobby wasn’t very crowded at all. Iruka grabbed a seat in the open so that Kakashi would be sure to see him. He was fidgety and starting to sweat.

He had no idea where Kakashi was going to take him or what they were going to do. He was twenty-six years old and had never been on a proper date; something else he didn’t tell people.

There was a magazine beside him, so to ease the nervousness, he started reading.

Kakashi, on the other hand, was feeling cool and rather calm about it. He raked a hand through his messy grey hair. He had been on many dates of course.

Iruka’s sweet smile and scar popped into his mind and something inside of him fluttered. That had never happened with anyone else. He couldn’t stop the smile that spread across his face as he pulled up to the apartment building. He breathed deeply as he exited the car.

“Reading again I see,” he chuckled as he walked up to Iruka. The other man blushed, putting the magazine down. Kakashi loved watching his face color around him. He wondered where else the blush would creep when pushed far enough.

“Habit I guess,” he said sheepishly, putting the magazine down and touching a finger to the end of his nose. Kakashi found that cute as well. Iruka just didn’t know how cute he really was and the things he was doing to Kakashi inside.

“That’s fine. Good article?” Iruka nodded. It had been about chocolate cake with exotic icing. “Interesting. Well, are you ready to go?” he asked.

“Yeah, lets go.” Iruka stood up and followed him out to his car. It was a rather old one, small and grey, of which Iruka didn’t know the model of.

Kakashi opened the door for him and Iruka climbed in, leaning across the seat to unlock his door for him.

“Thanks,” Kakashi told him. Iruka could almost see the corners of his mouth turned up in a smile under his scarf again. He was completely curious about what Kakashi looked like under there and he was dying to ask.

“So where are we going?”

“Well it’s a surprise really, but I think you’ll like it.” Kakashi had never planned anything like he had for Iruka. He really wanted to make it special for some reason. “Hope you don’t mind.”

“No, surprises are fine.” The sun was starting to really drop in the summer sky as Iruka watched the scenery fly by. He and Kakashi kept up a steady banter, Iruka taking longer to notice that they weren’t in the city anymore. He could see fields and cherry trees.

“Something wrong?” Kakashi asked, noticing that Iruka had fallen silent.

“Huh? Oh no, just looking outside,” he smiled.

“Pretty isn’t it?” Kakashi asked.

“Yes.” The sun was even lower now, the sky blood red and fading to a golden color.

“Then we’re here.” Kakashi pulled off the road, near a few of the threes. He shut the car off and got out. Istead of waiting, Iruka stepped out as well. “I thought we could dine under the stars.”

“Wow, that sounds nice,” Iruka blushed as Kakashi grabbed a basket from the backseat as they walked to a place under the nearest tree.

They spread a blanket and settled in, dividing the bento boxes between them. Kakashi had even taken the time to cook the food himself.

“Do you like it?” he asked.

“Yes, it is very good,” Iruka smiled. He could see a tiny bit more of Kakashi’s face. “Thank you.”

“No problem Iruka.” The name rolled off his tongue. The man blushed under the darkening sky, small talk resuming for a little while. Kakashi couldn’t keep his eyes off Iruka. He looked even more beautiful tonight than he had any other time during the week.

“Is there something on my face?” Iruka asked, feeling self-conscious under the other man’s gaze.

“No, I’m sorry, I couldn’t stop staring,” he confessed, waiting for the flush to return. “You really are beautiful Iruka.”

“Thank you,” he answered, bowing his head. Iruka had to wonder and second guess though. No one had told him that. He looked at Kakashi again to see that the scarf was off his face. Iruka gasped.

Kakashi was a god. His face was flawless and smooth, his jaw line strong, his nose perfectly formed. His mouth was just the right size, his lips pulled back in a soft smile.

“Kakashi?” No wonder the man kept the mask on; he would have a million people chasing him.

“Hm?” He hadn’t realized the scarf was completely off.

“Wow,” Iruka breathed. He wanted to touch him. Kakashi reached up and realized he was exposed. Now it was his turn to blush as he raked a hand through his hair, the strands catching the colors. He went to cover it back up, but Iruka’s hand reached out to stop him.

He found himself leaning forward to place a gentle kiss on Iruka’s lips. They were all he had dreamed of and more. The slightly younger man melted into the other as Kakashi brought a hand up to cup the back of his head.

Iruka could feel something awakening inside of his as his stomach flip-flopped when Kakashi traced his experienced tongue across his lower lip.

He blushed and opened his mouth, allowing Kakashi to enter the space. He could taste the sake they had over dinner, as he kept his eyes shut. Kakashi massaged his tongue slowly, trying to teach him how it was done.

Iruka felt him place gentle kisses around his lips and mouth as he opened his eyes to look into Kakashi’s bi-colored ones. He slowly touched a hand to all the places, still staring at Kakashi with the other man watching every movement. He wasn’t sure what to say.

“Kakashi…” he started.

“Did you enjoy that?” Iruka nodded; his first kiss. “Good, I was afraid I had been too forward.”

“No, not at all,” Iruka told him breathlessly. He wanted more. Kakashi seemed to understand, for he leaned in and grabbed Iruka again, kissing him deeply.

Iruka placed his hands on Kakashi’s chest, leaning into him more as Kakashi’s hands locked on his head and his waist. Kakashi brushed his body against Iruka’s as the kiss grew more heated, Iruka’s arms wrapping around his neck.

Kakashi tangled a hand in his slipping ponytail, pulling the elastic out and letting the locks fall around his shoulders and face. Iruka was making soft sounds into their kiss as Kakashi’s hand gripped his waist.

Iruka could not believe he was doing this and with a man as beautiful as Kakashi. But how far was this going to go? Right about then he really didn’t care.

Kakashi was being extremely gentle with him. His tongue was soft as it traced Iruka’s jaw before his lips pressed to the skin. Iruka gasped and fell against him. His skin was extremely sensitive from never being intimately touched.

The lightest caress could probably make him orgasm right there. Kakashi knew this, intentionally teasing him. Iruka’s mouth opened wide and his eyes shut as the slightly older man held him against his muscular body.

“Kakashi,” he gasped as he began to suck his neck. He knew he was blushing, but he couldn’t stop. This felt so good.

“So soft,” he mumbled as he began to rub Iruka’s back. “This can go just as far as you want it to. Though, if you don’t want to go all the way tonight, I’ll understand,” Kakashi told him. “It won’t affect my opinion of you or change anything.” Kakashi was giving him a choice?

“You wouldn’t be mad if I said I didn’t want to go all the way tonight?” he asked, pulling back some and blushing as usual.

“Nope, I won’t be mad at all.” He kissed him gently.

“Thank you,” Iruka said, bowing his head to Kakashi’s chest. “Can we do that on another night?”

“Yes, that’s fine.” He held Iruka to him, gently rubbing small circles on his back, enjoying the feel of his body against his. It was cute, how Iruka didn’t quite want to go all the way. It was the first date, after all. Some people would have found that prudish, but Kakashi loved it.

He slowly moved back against the truck of the tree, still holding Iruka close as they watched the sun sink below the edge of the horizon, the space between daylight and night, the twilight, and the blanket of stars.

Kakashi’s fingers stroked Iruka’s soft hair. His breathing was light and regular against his neck. Kakashi chuckled as he realized that the slightly younger man was asleep. His face was angelic, his lips in a shy smile. He would hate to wake him up soon to go home, but it had to be done. He was sure Iruka probably had work the next morning.

“Iruka,” he whispered softly, kissing the shell of his ear. The man stirred a little. “Iruka,” he tried again.

“Hm?” he asked groggily, trying to look at Kakashi’s still exposed face. “What happened?”

“You fell asleep,” Kakashi smiled.

“Oh no! I’m sorry,” Iruka started. “I didn’t mean to.”

“It’s okay. You’re cute,” the slightly older man grinned as he chuckled again, watching Iruka blush.

“I guess I was so tired from work,” he grinned.

“I understand. Must be a handful having Izumo and Kotetsu in the shop or out of it. They look like they would be interesting to work with.”

“They are,” Iruka confirmed. “They’re pretty nice when they’re not teasing me.”

“They tease you huh? How?”

“Izumo gave me the nickname,” Iruka flushed. It sounded strange coming from a twenty-four year old coworker.

“What is it then?” Kakashi grinned mischievously.

“Well…” His face flushed an even deeper shade of color. “Iruka-sensei,” he smiled. “It sounds funny coming from someone two years younger than me.” Kakashi was now laughing.

“That’s even cuter than I thought. You’re going to be a teacher right?”

“Yes, very soon, I hope. But I guess then I’ll be Umino-sensei instead of Iruka to the students.”

“I think you’ll be an excellent teacher,” Kakashi told him earnestly. “You’re honest enough.”

“Thank you,” he nodded. Kakashi was a martial arts teacher. He understood about students.

“Come on, it’s getting late. I’ll drive you home,” Kakashi told him as he helped him off the ground.

“Alright.”
