Curse of the Morning Light
::Prologue::
+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+
"Do you still hear me? I promise that I don't hate you for doing what you did," The shining figure of the blonde intensified as his voice got weaker and the only sign of his strength weakening was the sound of his own voice cracking.
"Wha?" The crumpled form of the once almighty prince is now cradled in the loving arms of his once lover who's face now show the signs of aging and tears that welled up threatening to burst out.
"Shhh. Save your strength, but I just wanted to say that I love you and I always will." Once more the blonde found himself unable to continue, but he needed to say what he needed, lest he miss his chance forever so he began once more, "for now, I will honor our destiny wherever it takes us but know that my love for you will never cease and if for some reason it may not seem so, know that by doing what I must, I am preserving you as well."
"But why?" asked the raven, his voice now shaky from his previous exertions. "Why do you have to suffer for something that I have done?"
The blonde merely shook his head in the negative as if to say that it's not anyone's fault but also decided to reply in turn, "I am not suffering because I know that you will live, I know that maybe in time... even a thousand years from now, that maybe, just maybe, destiny will lead you back to me."
Now the tears fell like raindrops as the sky turned gray and before long, the cries of the heavens followed along with the blonde's. The blonde haired young man could feel his humanity slip away as his skin turned gray and dull like that of a common rock's surface.
"I don't want this," uttered the raven in what he could muster. His voice was shaky but the conviction was there. "I know I'm in the wrong so let me take your place while you live!" The desperation in the raven's voice is clearly heard through the unabashed calm monotony of the strained voice.
Once more, the blonde felt more tears run down his cheek as the transformation started to occur more rapidly. His body felt numb and cold, all the warmth leaving him replaced by some unknown chill that swept up from nowhere.
"I'm sorry but this is what must happen, I know it, I can feel it, this has purpose... so please, never regret anything that has happened for I believe that everything happens for a reason and I can't explain why, but I know, somewhere deep in my heart that this is my place, at least for now." The blonde's voice almost seemed frantic now, betraying the emotionless state that he wanted to project. The warmth of his body now left in an exponential rate. He could feel his muscles contract and release involuntarily simultaneously like a rapid fire, his throat constricting and his eyes glazing over. The light that surrounded his body dimmed down as well, but what was more prominent was the way that his body seized to function the right way. It wouldn't be long now, until his mortal flesh left him.
"But I can't, I won't let go... and before you go, I also want you to know that whatever that had transpired before was a mistake, I guess what I'm trying to say is that... I love you (suki desu) [1]."
The blonde's eyes, now blurry, held back the tears that still threatened to flow, but soon enough pain blossomed from his chest and he couldn't help but drop down on to his knees. He gently placed the raven down, cradling the raven's upper body and head like how a mother would cradle her new born child. Then soon enough, their eyes connected and the blonde felt himself smile a little as his body now turned to stone.
The raven wept and wept along with the heavens as teardrops fell accompanying the streams of salty liquid pouring down the raven's face. He struggled to let himself stand up, he noticed that the blonde's once glowing body now mimicked the dull grey of his surroundings. He still couldn't stop the tears from falling so he leaned in once more and kissed the rough, stone lips of the once warm, inviting body.
As he pulled back a little, he noticed that in front of him and the blonde, glinted a small necklace. It was the stone of legends of which could only be given to the worthy. It was also the blonde's famed jewelry that was lost in the struggle that had transpired. He took the jeweled necklace and placed it on the blonde, letting the brightness of the blue jewel contrast the surrounding. Then once more, he kissed the unmoving statue of the blonde before he made his way out of the forested area where, now, hundreds of dead body littered the ground surrounding the statue of the blonde. The raven haired young man, failed to notice that once he was out of sight, tears of blood ran down from the statue's eyes.

The land was declared sacred by the prince and was further left alone as the prince, now king, ruled the land into prosperity. The king led his land into prosperity and wealth. He gave his lands and the surrounding lands a way for peace to reign over. Under his rule, he made sure that all of his people would live happily and that was what, indeed happened.
In no time at all, the land grew and spread all under the raven king's name. No one really wanted to oppose since everything that the king is doing is for their sake as well, and everything is being peacefully negotiated. Everyone lived in perfect harmony but needless to say the king wasn't extremely happy.
The king, whenever he was out and about, always looked sad, but the king didn't want to throw his life away for that would be a betrayal to his lover's act. He wanted nothing more than to be where the other was, but he knew that he would need to wait until the time came when he would meet the other once more.
Unknown to everyone, but the few close friends of the king, the king would at times visit his once lover's statue, or grave in another’s perspective, and talk to it as if the thing itself was listening. Years dragged on and on, moving on into decades as the same routines were repeated. By now, the years had started to wear the king down and he could only make a couple of trips a month or so. His health, while still okay, would slowly start to deteriorate soon as well.
The people were a little concerned, since the king had not sired a child all these years after he came in power. Most other surrounding royals offered their daughters but the king refused and continued to live on in slight solitude. He regressed from his people as the years kept piling on. It was only a matter of time until the king had gotten bed-ridden that the kingdom was in an uproar over the health of their leader.
As the outside world continued, the raven could only think of one person. So in the middle of the night, he tried his best to sneak out of the palace walls into the sacred land just in the forest surrounding. The raven, now quite old, walked on the memorized path towards his blonde. He let his will overpower the exhaustion he felt. He failed to even sense the presence of his most trusted right hand man following him in case he needed help.
As soon as he reached the statue, he felt his body grow weaker and more exhausted. He could see that the years had not diminished the statue at all. It still remained as it was the first day it came to be. The present stone body of the blonde was now kneeling while his arms were thrust out a bit like holding a fragile infant. The head was still tilted down, looking at his arms, smiling a small smile. The raven haired ruler let years of unshed tears fall once more as he got closer and closer and he let his arms go around the statue's neck in a small embrace.
The moonlight shone on the statue and the old man, turning them into the center piece of the forest. The trusted right hand man looked on in fascination as his leader and friend still grieved over the loss of his lover; he also felt a tear drop as his heart constricted in the fact that this all powerful ruler could have everything but the one thing he really, truly wanted. As he looked on in admiration, the raven's heart stoped beating and his face was painted with a soft smile that now, he could die happily in the arms of the person he loved.
The other man, considerably younger, turned away as the tears that let loose marked his smooth features. It was time to tell the council of the king that the land was now without a ruler.

Months after the raven haired king had died, wars broke out to try and gain ownership to the unclaimed lands of the fallen king. Kingdoms from every part of the lands vied for the power and control along with the prosperity that the land of the fallen king held. This turned out to be their downfall as hundreds and thousands of men were slaughtered and murdered leaving the kingdoms with less protection than ever before. Decades of wars started and ended until everyone merely divided up the land and formed their own countries and sections.
Once more, the lands grew powerful and rich, and were able to sustain their people well. Then decades and centuries passed by and the land evolved and people started coming up with new ideas which effectively ended the silence between countries and tied them together. The land prospered and renewed itself until technologies were upgraded and knowledge became wide-spread.
Throughout all this time, the sacred lands were left untouched until an archaeologist stumbled upon it in later years. He found the mummified bones of the king from almost a couple of hundred years back and buried it properly at the side of the statue. Once he had unknowingly completed a ritual, a light thrust forth from the mummified bones and scattered into millions of tiny orbs that scattered throughout the land. The archaeologist, himself, was stunned to no end but what really caught his eye was the magnificent blue jewel that was hung around the statue's neck. It would seem that the jewel was still intact so he tried to grab it, only for it to glow, summoning up an aurora borealis to light up the surroundings.
The man didn't know it then, but it would turn out that the aurora borealis was a blessing granted forth from the jewel by the statue. In time, the man would find out and build the statue a shrine, honoring it. Upon the grounds of the forest fields, the shrine stood tall and more and more people came to touch the jewel and see if it would summon up the aurora borealis as well.
Soon enough, legends came about and it was told that for anyone who can touch the stone and summon an aurora borealis would forever be granted a good life, far beyond any average means. The legend grew and was spread far into the world, welcoming people from everywhere to come and try to see if they could make the stone glow as the legends say. Many tried and in only a few cases were the lights summoned.
Unbeknownst to the people, that the lights could only be summoned if they could feel the deep connection within themselves and the statue. The world was granted the love of the king and his lover from the time the archaeologist had completed the ritual. The tiny orbs of light that he had seen were a significance of love from the once lovers. The love orb is also reborn in every new child to be passed on to the next. To be able to feel that connection would summon the lights and give them fortunes unimaginable, but at the same time, each person that summoned the lights gave the statue cracks from which no one could explain.
Eventually, the people gave up trying to summon the lights until the legend died down to only a handful group of people. Never the less, years kept passing on by and technologies expanded and common knowledge expanded as well. Soon towering cities were built until the forests were cut down, leaving only a couple of acres that the shrine inhabited. A university was built around the shrine, and the university students deemed the shrine a love shrine. They created a brand new legend from which foretold that to whoever could summon the lights would be granted their true love forever and ever.
Now only time will tell whether the two star-crossed lovers could once more cross paths in the eye of destiny.
