Title: How To Be An Alpha

Warnings: none other than cuteness maybe? Oh, that and I kind of enjoyed writing this, and left it totally opened at the end, so I’m calling this my PRELUDE! So look forward to more ^__^
Naruto Uzumaki was in the back room of his training room, rummaging through his paperwork before the start of his new class. The blond prepared his folders to hand out to his newest students, stuffing a list of must-have items in before collecting the pile and placing them on his cart.
Opening his binder, a tan finger slid down the list of names that would be attending that night. He preferred to have an idea of the names of his students before they came in so he could say hello to them personally. It looked like there would be a nice variety of students in his class this round, which always pleased the blond. He could tell he would be challenged by this group. A tooth slipped past his lip as he grinned at the thrill of the challenge. Glancing down at his watch, Naruto saw that his students should be arriving soon, and he should stand at the door to invite them in.
Coming out of the back room, he could see through the glass door the figure of a man; tall, lithe body, and spiky silver hair to top it off. A smile spread across Naruto’s face, wiping his hands on his khakis, he pulled open the door to greet his first student of the night.
“Hello! Come on in!” Naruto’s eyes scrunched with his smile, his palm open, indicating for the man to come into the room. Looking to the ground, Naruto dropped to his knees, his hand palm down reached towards his prize. “Pakkun, yes?”
“Yeah. This is Pakkun,” the silver haired man answered.
Naruto looked up as the man spoke, and was slightly shocked to see the man had the majority of his face covered. He had a black mask that covered the bottom half of his face, and a similar black wrap covering his left eye. Trying to not look obviously surprised by the man’s accessories, the blond crinkled his eyes and smiled before looking back at the brown pug with a black mask.
‘Heh, owner and pet look-a-like contest for the win?’ Naruto said jokingly to himself. “Hi Pakkun! I’m Naruto! I’ll be your teacher for the next eight weeks!” The little pug came over and sniffed the blond’s hand, and sat down. Naruto laughed to himself, thinking the dog was basically saying he passed inspection and could pet him. Giving the pug a scratch on the chin and chest, he then tested the back of his neck and worked his way to the top of his head where he noticed the pup loosen up at his ministrations. Giving a gentle tug or two on his ears, Naruto stood and told the man to have a seat anywhere in the room.
The blond looked out the door to see no one else had arrived, then looked to see where his first student chose to sit. The blue eyes couldn’t help but focus on the enigma’s ass as it seemed to sway in the tight fitting slacks he wore.
Naruto couldn’t help but think that some day, he would finally find the right person in one of his classes. He figured it’d be the best place to find a dog-lover such as himself, without it being a member of the Inuzuka clan, that is. Normally when a man, because that is what Naruto preferred, came through, he was usually disappointed with seeing a ring on the finger, or knowing all too well, they were straight.
Naruto caught the sound of a throat being cleared, and realized he was still staring at Pakkun’s owner while in a daze. He looked up to meet a dark eye looking at him amusedly. Trying not to blush as if he was caught with his hand in the cookie-jar, Naruto smiled at the man and asked how long he has had his pug.
The two had a chance to talk for a few minutes before they heard the heavy breathing of dogs pulling their owners along. Naruto nodded his head at Kakashi, hoping he indicated he had a pleasant time talking to the man and hoped to do so again. Really, so much can be said with a simple bob of the head. Naruto couldn’t help but thinking he wouldn’t mind bobbing his--… shaking his head, Naruto had to tear his eyes from the pleasant image and greet the oncoming slew of students.
After a total of seven more students came in, Naruto closed and locked the door to turn his attention to the group of dogs and humans.
“Welcome everyone, to the Inuzuka Dog Training School! My name is Naruto Uzumaki, and I will be your trainer for the next eight weeks! If you would please turn off all cell phones, we will begin today’s lesson!”
Many reached into their pockets or purses to turn off their phones as Naruto instructed, but the blond couldn’t help but notice that Pakkun’s dad didn’t move. Thinking maybe he just forgot to bring his or didn‘t own one, the blond began the first part of their course, How to be an Alpha.
Checking his watch, Naruto saw he had a half hour before their first class would come to an end, so he decided he would bring in his companion.
“If you would all hold on to your dogs, I think it is time to introduce someone from my pack.” Naruto smiled at his students as they all made sure to hold on to their dog’s leashes. He saw Pakkun‘s dad, Kakashi, crinkle his eye at him as he stepped on Pakkun’s leash.
Unlocking then pulling open the heavy glass door, Naruto put his heel on the base to hold it open. Taking his fingers into his mouth, pressing his tongue in such a way he learned only after months of practice, he gave a series of short whistles that did not emit high pitch whistles as one would expect. It sounded like a first-timer trying out how to whistle instead. Turning and looking back at his students he gave a bright smile as a red, medium sized dog, with a black bushy tail came running in. Stopping in the middle of the room, the average sized dog, with more than average sized ears, sat down, his tail curling around his feet.
“This is Pangeran, my domestic Dhole.” Naruto walked over to the dog who resembled a fox in many ways, and stood to the right of it. “I have a Canidae sanctuary for declining wild breeds. He was born at the sanctuary last year, and almost didn’t make it, so he stayed with me where I could get him past the hard times where he would have surely died if in the wild. He seemed to have taken a liking to me, so I began working with him and a year later, here he is!” Naruto reached his left hand down to scratch the top of the dog’s head, and the dog lifted his head to meet the fingers, eyes closing instantly.
The students began to ask questions about Naruto’s sanctuary, and the blond couldn’t help but feel proud of what he had done in the last six years and answered each question. After a few minutes, glancing at the time, Naruto clapped his hands and told the students he would be showing them their first command.
After demonstrating on Pangeran, he asked each student to repeat his actions as he watched them closely to correct their hand movements, or the amount of times giving a command.
Soon class came to an end, and Naruto wished his new students well for the coming week, and bid them goodbye.
The blond man and red dog stood side by side and watched as man and beast walked out his door. Naruto noticed that the man who was the first to enter his room this evening was also the last to leave. The tall man took his time packing his things together and standing to walk out the door. Pakkun taking his time moving along with the silver haired man at his heel.
“Good job today Pakkun! And you too, Kakashi!” The blond was horrible about remembering owners’ names, but Kakashi’s name stuck out like a neon light in his head, and Naruto knew he wouldn’t forget it any time soon.
“You are quite the teacher, for being so young,“ the silver haired man said, surprising Naruto.
Rubbing the back of his head, Naruto smiled wide. “Thanks! It’s something I’m passionate about, and I just hope I can be of help to the dogs in the long run, keeping them from ever seeing the inside of a shelter again.“ The blond dropped his hand, all seriousness in his face. This was a subject he was so passionate about that all kidding ceased.
“I’m sure you’ve saved many lives, and will do so in the future. Now, I do have a question before I go.“ Kakashi stood close to the blond, eyeing him up and down before saying, “Now, you say Pakkun isn’t allowed to sleep in my bed anymore because it will make him an equal. Now, I’m curious, do you send your partners to a different bed as well?“
Naruto’s eyes enlarged at the question. He wasn’t sure if he was more shocked at the question itself, or the fact the way he said it, Kakashi surmised that Naruto was gay. Naruto had to think though, with all the ogling, he wouldn’t appear straight to the one he ogled either. “They sleep with me in my bed…“ The blond couldn’t believe he was having this conversation!
“I thought the Alpha didn’t sleep with those below him,“ Kakashi egged on.
“The Alpha sleeps with his submissive equal,“ Naruto countered.
“So, you DO send them on their way?“ The crinkle at the edge of the man’s eye was endearing, but also annoying with the game Kakashi had created. More-so, because he was completely right.
The blond nodded and turned his head away from the dark eye watching him closely. A warm hand came up and gently cupped Naruto’s chin and moved it to face the older man. “The Alpha is submitting?“
Naruto stared widely at Kakashi. He just showed the man his neck! He broke eye contact! What was he doing? He WAS Alpha! Cheeks flushing, Naruto straightened and moved in on the masked man. “I never submit,“ he growled.
“Good,“ Kakashi practically purred. At that, the man winked (or closed his eye, hard to tell), then turned to leave. “See you next week, Naruto.“
Watching incredulously as the man and his dog left the room and then the building, Naruto finally realized all that was implied in their short conversation. Yeah, the mysterious-Kakashi would be something Naruto would not be able to get out of his mind for quite some time.
