Reaching for Love.
Naruto's tan hands dug into the bedding as tears poured down his face. Today... another year since Sasuke had left. He couldn't face the village, or the friends he knew would support him today, not today. He knew Sakura was in the same boat as he was, and he also knew no one would really bother either of them today...well...all but one.
"Oy, Naruto....kun?" Sai asked as he entered the dark room. The blonde was somewhere in his bed, where little, shaky sobs could be heard. Concerned for his friend, Sai slowly moved in towards the shaking mass.
He gently lay a hand on Naruto's back, as he dug the black shirted fox out from his bedding. As Sai held the crying Naruto... he felt his hatred for Sasuke grow ten fold. How dare he make his Naruto hurt like this...
What were these feelings? The ones licking up into his stomach like a flame as he held onto his Naruto...A burning need to protect him, help him, make sure he was alright... these feelings they had no purpose..to the once emotionless teen...or at least they hadn't always. Somehow, stroking the blonde's soft golden hair....made him feel like he was home.
He was holding and comforting his Naruto...and he didn't even understand why he was calling Naruto his Naruto in his mind...since when had he started to do that? Did it matter... No.
Something as trivial as when he laid claim to the fox did not matter, all that mattered was he belonged to the artist, who would paint a picture of them together...for all eternity. No Sasuke Uchiha included...ever again.
